      The Grand Australian Roadtrip

StarTrek. Shot this quickie before entering Mt Isa yesterday after a 800 kms ride. The number of stars you can see at night just outside the city, which itself is in the middle of nowhere, had be 'starstruck'!

The Red Way. On the way to Tennant Creek!

      Devils Marbles!

      Which way?

      Northern Territory !

Sorry no fuel! The nearest fuel station was 200 kms away from this!

      Is this Mars?

      Inside the Barkly Homestead. #notonlyfuel

130 kmph is too slow for this mate!

From Dawn to Dusk. A frame extract from a self video today at sunset just before Tennant Creek.

      No Fuel.

      Right here right now!

One of the worst roadtrip enemies!

      MadMax vehicles!

So you need a 150 HP bike to carry your stuff? I met this guy, Andre, from France cycling from Melbourne to Darwin on a cycle. More at The Long Red Ride | 5000km through Australia's Red Centre

      Gods Must be Crazy!

      Test shot from Olloclip fisheye!

And that's where the info center is on the bike!

This 19 yr young bloke was doing 8000 Kays on this decade old bike all by himself! #respect

      The barren center! #olloclip

At Anzac Hill in Alice Springs.

Today I reached the big red rock in the center of Australia called Uluru. This big 'rock' not only astonishes by being in the the middle of a vast flatland, but is of also great spiritual significance to the Aboriginals here. 17000 kms till to go!

        All the Best Sunny.

        Must be half way through.

Feeling a little drained out of strength. I hope not. You are STRONG LIKE ROCK..

This is the time when you need the maximum mental and physical fitness in this extremely difficult Soloride.

We the Xbhpians support you and really appreciate your effort. Keep driving safely.

Check out that car! 1948 Austin!

            Burnout!

This photo is special. The motorcycle on the left is going around Australia. The camel on the right has travelled across Australia's vast desert and outback, 5000+ kms in nine months from Perth to Byron Bay! Both are a special breed. An Indian is riding the motorcycle, while the camel is of an North Indian descent (they are still call Afghan Camels). The owner, Mark, calls this camel named BIG JIM as the Ducati of camels since it wins the maximum races that are held at the their local track! Thanks to Uluru Camel Tours for the insight and the opportunity!

One of the most beautiful sunsets I have ever seen! This was in the middle of a highway to Alice Springs from Uluru at sunset today!

              Re: The Grand Australian Roadtrip

Here is another shout to another wonderful Indian motorcycling club called Born 2 Ride (New Delhi) for virtually cheering The Grand Australian Roadtrip!

Always feels good to make it into one of the local newspapers, especially if its in the middle of nowhere! This one was in Centralian Advocate 10th May 2013. A small town's newspaper is always much lighter and simpler read than the over crowded big city papers!

I got a chance to ride the insane Diavel again and finally I saw what I must look like riding the Multistrada! And doesnt that FOTOS plate look sweet! Thanks to Pravin and Pat for a great day yesterday in Alice Springs!

Dawn to Dusk. 16000 kms remaining.

The last 400 kms of 1750 kms today were ridden through the Kakadu National Park, which is essentially a forest. It was pitch dark when I spotted isolated bush fires. The clear night sky was punctuated by thousands of stars. Even though the first thing on my mind was to reach the bed after the SaddleSore, I reckoned this was too good a photo opportunity to pass! Here it is, thanks to my gloves which provided a makedo tripod in the road, a quick shot of what was an surreal night scene with the Ducati Multistrada!

              New Pirelli Scorpion Trails!

Its Four in the Morning. This photo was shot in the middle of the highway between Alice Springs and Tennant Creek yesterday at 4.30 AM. Doing a SaddleSore gave me an opportunity to see a beautiful sunrise as well as a sunset in the same on the road. Priceless moments. It seemed the millions of stones making the road were similar to millions of stars making up the night sky, both roads in their own right, but for different kind of vehicles.

I found this unique plant / tree growing out of the ground looking like an Alien crawling the parched red land around the sacred rock of Uluru in Centralia. In the distance are the silhouettes of the organic looking rocks of Olgas against the setting sun. I used an external speedlite for highlighting the Multistrada with the 'Alien' plant.

An appearance in The Indian Telegraph Australian Tabloid(April 2013 edition).

              Leaving Darwin!

                Re: The Grand Australian Roadtrip

                Fire !

Internal Combustion propels the bike. External Combustion can stop it! Shot along the highway to Katherine from Darwin.

G'Day. Nothing like experiencing a sunrise in the middle of the outback. This one was at 7 AM 200kms north of Alice Springs on my SaddleSore day. Amazing moment. The rays seem to reach the bone marrow!

The Bikerni:Association of Female Bikers-India are a group of female motorcyclists in India and they have been virtually cheering me on the ride! A shout to them for that!

Today was another 900 kms day. The benefits of riding in the night in Australia seem to outweigh the hazards of it. Or so I would like to conveniently think. But when you find yourself in the outback with skies like this and a half moon showing you the way with cool breeze blowing the clouds in the sky, it is more than worthwhile to be suspicious of every shrub on the roadside to be a kangaroo or a wallaby. Beam Me Up, Scotty - is all I can say! Shot a couple of hours ago from this posting 100 kms before Halls Creek in Western Australia at 8 PM in the night.

                Take off!

                Burnout II !

Who wants to go this way ?

                That's half of what's to come !

As far as you can see!

The Grand Australian Roadtrip - Live Updates!

GhostRider. Another photo shot at night on the Halls Creek highway yesterday. Exposure: 30 seconds. In this photo I am actually 'filled' with clouds. Heavenly connection!

The Boab Tree is only found in Western Australia's Kimberly region and the Madagascar, and Africa. These are also called bottle trees due to their shape. Many of them are hundreds and even 1500 hundred years old, making them one of the oldest living organisms on Earth. I found this one on the highway yesterday to Halls Creek.

Of course! I was missing cyclones!

                                Was madmax here!

Ghost Gums are Australian Eucalyptus trees that have white to pink barks. They certainly do stand out on the highways in the night!

Tropic of Capricorn. Will pass through this thrice in the trip!

Heading South towards Perth. Its getting cooler now! This one was taken at Carnarvon, Western Australia today at sunset.

A moment of respect for this behind the scenes workhorse - the Alienware MX14 with 16GB RAM. This is the reason along with Adobe Creative Cloud from Adobe India that you see the photos from my DSLRs up every night. Works blazingly fast with Lightroom and Adobe PhotoshopWooramel Roadhouse.
