Hey HydBiker, its been eons since there was any contact with those thieves. But rest assured, THEY are looking at the thread. My friend harish, has been getting random calls once in a while, saying about spotting the bike. It is very likely that the thieves may try to divert his attention.Originally posted by HydBiker View PostAre those guys still trying to negotiate with your friend?
It has been over 2 months now and it would have concluded in something!!!
However, the police did call them once from their intial cell phone. The police even told those guyz to come and surrender the bike. From that day on (more than 3 months ago) the thieves have gone into hiding. In the last few months, I believe there was only one call my friend harish received and we suspect that it was the thieves themselves, very less chances for it to be a genuine call. Logically speaking, they must try every means possible to sell the bike to some innocent bakra.
Because of this topic, I've heard many incidents of superbikes being stolen. Just the sheer mesmerism of wanting a bike and overlooking the legal documents. That's like butter smooth transaction for the thieves. Steal a bike (like con an innocent person like my friend by paying a meagre amount) and sell it to another unsuspecting soul.
But even now, the thieves must have had even a little bit of trouble in selling the bike to someone. My guess is that its very likely sold out now, very good chances for that because the only way a konica minolta edition bike could be resold quickly was to re-paint it....however, given that the rims are blue, repaining them would be a very tough job. for an experienced biker, they can spot such subtle changes on the bike.
so there you go, hydbiker, no updates as of yet. Optimistically, only a miracle will get the bike back. But one thing's for certain. Many sections of this thread is copied and pasted in other threads of people wanting to purchase superbikes. The knowledge is spread out, that is our intention!!! Let us not fall trap to the underworld of superbike stealing. Let us be careful! Now many people know the rules of spotting a clear paper bike.
Cheers,

Sorry for the late reply brother ! Yeah I saw the pic in the first page ! The model of the RR is the same. Only a different paint job. Exactly the same model with a different paint job. This was a White one with black vinyls on it. And it is easy to get paint jobs done on a bike. That too in factory colours. I have seen a GSX in Bangalore that was yellow first but then coloured red to avoid trouble from cops !Originally posted by Bking View PostHey Sourpunk, thanks for the tip. Its not working for me either. I just checked. Was it a konika minolta edition? there is a pick of the bike on the first page of this thread. The point is, konika minolta edition is actually a while bike with blue decals in it, but with blue rims.
Did the bike you see was all white with blue rims? any feedback would help buddy.

Omg soo long
OMG This was sooooo Long. took me atleast 2 hours to read the entire thing. Sure added a lot of knowledge to me. Specially cuz I'm searching for a Good CBR 600RR since a long time, but either they r not legal, or the owners with the DRI clearance are asking WAYYY too much. Any ways. During my search an unknown person through a dealer had approached me for a vehicle with this description, but I did not show any interest as I am interested in Papers First. I dont wanna get myself into any sorta trouble whatsoever.. This was about 2 months ago. Cheers.
All the best. Ill keep reading.

You're right kashif. Nothing much can be understood by just trying to change the color of the bike. The thing about superbikes in India is that there are a lot of, what do you say, urban legends? associated them...a cop will try to stop you no matter what, as long as he sees a big machine. Same case with the DRI, they know a big bike when they see one.Originally posted by kashif.sayed View PostHow would color of bike helps in avoiding trouble from cops. sorry i did not understand.
Atta boy Hemank! Really, very proud of you. This is the exact kind of things that I and my friend harish wanted to see. The awareness of the shady superbike underworld.Originally posted by hemank View PostOMG This was sooooo Long. took me atleast 2 hours to read the entire thing. Sure added a lot of knowledge to me. And you're right, either they are not legal, or those with clear papers have a very huge price!!! makes sense right? So everyone, suspect even more, when you're getting a deal for an unreasonable low price. As the age old saying goes, "if something sounds too good to be true, then it probably is not."
And again hemank, good way to ask for the papers first bro. cause the moment you say you only want to see the papers first, the dealer will never call you back. Now you know all the info about buying a used superbike and how much more important is peace of mind. not worth anything to compromise peace of mind.
Now that you know this, you will also spread the word. With new bikes getting launched in india, including 600 cc (which is not far as now that the hyosungs are here and its legal to import a 600cc now, the jap 600cc is SURE to follow, only a matter of time) the days of the nasty superbike thieves are numbers! Their sorry As**s will need to look for a new area to cheat, freaking losers!
Good luck hemank, and I wish that you will get your dream soon, that too a legal one. Thanks again, for the update.

Extremely useful thread. Have referred atleast 3 friends to go through the info posted here before thinking of buying used or under 800cc bikes.
Its quite frustrating to believe the thieves got away with the bike. It shouldn't end like this.
You get the point?? :D

Any News on the progress ? What are the cops saying about the whole incident ? I know how painful it is to go through such an ordeal, i am really wishing that the thoughtless thieves be nailed soon and put behind bars.
Its really heartening to see him try to spread awareness about the right way to proceed in deals such as this. I'v spread the word in my friends circle, All the best to your friend !

Thanks for your concern kailash, the thing is, the cops know about this stuff, and are definitely vigilant. However, my friend was informed by cops to not disclose any update with respect to what developments are happening with finding the bike. The cops are aware that a thread like this is up, and we are certain that the thief is reading all these updates. by informing what developments are happening with the cops, the thieves will also stay updated. So unless the thieves are caught, or just leave a motorcycle at some place and scoot away (very unlikely to happen) and my friend gets his bike back, I do not want to disclose any updates. Moreover, it is only my friend harish who has all the updates, so I am not aware of any major updates myself.Originally posted by kailash9999 View PostAny News on the progress ? But real thanks to xbhp, selling that bike to another party definitely has become hard for the theif. The only thing that has not made him dump the bike is the fact that he actually ended up paying my friend an advance of rs 1.1 Lakhs. Looking at the thieves perspective, he cannot make a big money from selling the bike in parts. He has to find a bakra to sell the bike away quickly. But thanks to xbhp, no matter which state the thief takes the bike, its not going to be an easy affair for him.
Look, maybe he did sell, maybe he did not. But what fact remains is that I do not see a konica minolta emerging on the street yet. Thanks to many xbhp members, I am getting personal messages about the links to sale of superbikes, in some cases, videos they shot of cbr600 in konica minolta editions to confirm if its my friends bike.
By getting these personal messages, I am certain that the theif will not get to read them through the regular thread, and whatever info I gather, I just pass it on to my friend who updates the police. So thanks to all those members, who send me personal messages.
A note to all: If you come across any sale link for superbikes, suspecting of any 2008 cbr600rr, please send me a personal message, and DO NOT post it on this thread.
Love you xbhp guys!

Dear Aman,Originally posted by aman619lalendi View PostBking js want to know tht d bike is official i mean to say full duty paid because am der in dis business(Dealer of SBK) if i get contact to dis bike...i will help u out..
Thank you for the concern. The bike DOES NOT have the duty paid! That is the problem in the first place. I suggest that you please read the entire thread. It is because of the lack of proper papers, superbikes are easily subjected to get stolen. All details of the bike are disclosed in the first page.
Both myself and my friend harish have actually lost our hopes in getting the bike back. We still believe it is in hiding, somewhere in hyderabad only. The thieves have been trying to stage the whole event as if they came from bangalore (all details are there throughout this thread).
However, there is some hope that me and my friend have, say a 1% chance of getting the bike back, although a very low chance, and that too, thanks to xbhp members. Any internet spotting for superbike ads, or just plain people noticing it, members of xbhp are sending me private messages that I duly pass on to my friend. We owe big time to this lovely biking community so called xBhp.
What you can do Aman, is that, since you are a dealer in this superbike business, you can help to spread more awareness. This was the biggest intention behind starting this thread! Certainly, we would love to get the bike back, but thanks to this community, many readers have become aware of the underworld scam that dawns upon the superbiking world in India. More than 26,000 views have been on this thread, so imagine how many people know about such scams, that too, its all people who are passionate about bikes.
So here is how you can help out aman:
write a post in this thread (or start a new thread at the discretion of the moderator) on things to know before buying a superbike. Talk of things such as what papers to look for? how invoice price is determined? how is taxation on bike is determined? what is tax structure with respect to new bike and used bikes? how to verify if documents are original? what are the DRI implications? can someone buy a DRI certified bike? What are the legal ports of entry? etc etc.
Not only will you create awareness aman, but you will also establish yourself as a legit superbike dealer in this community. You will become they guy that everyoen here can rely on to make superbiking a much simple process, and more importantly, a peace of mind giving experience.
So out with your thoughts and suggestion buddy. Cheers.
