  • how can u say for sure if this is the same bike???
    • it's minus the 56 on the screen

    • and it's also got a michelin mascot sticker added on to the front mudguard.

    • it doesn't even have the white rim strips on anymore.

    • the konica minolta sticker on the top of the front fender is a completely different sticker.

    • brembo decals on the USD forks.

    • no mirrors. no indicators.

    • there's even a difference in the paint-work on the top portion of the fairing.

Thanks xionite. Guess I got over excited. Besides, my friend harish also got back to me. If you see the exhaust, it's got a stock one, where as my friend's bike has a Jardine exhaust.

What caught my attention was that the registration numbers were missing, so I got excited that it were my friend's bike. Sharp eyes there buddy, thanks. Unless the thief made minor updates to decals and changed to a stock exhaust (which I really doubt), then this isn't my friend's bike.

But then again, this one doesn't have a registration number, and neither has the person disclosed any phone number....wondering how clean this bike is either! Man, this is disappointing!

      • Hey BKing, I've seen a Konica Minolta edition CBR600RR close to my house on three separate occasions, on the Outer Ring Road, in and around the Nagarbhavi area, here in Bangalore. I found it odd to see a Konica Minolta edition bike. I couldn't get a closer look at the person riding the bike on all three occasions as he was too fast and my gaze was fixed on the bike, but on the third instance that i saw, the rider was wearing a helmet unlike the previous two occasions. And also i couldn't observe the licence plate/sticker. I dont remember seeing the number '56' on the windscreen as well. I'll keep my eyes open and if i find the bike again and find any resemblance to what you've mentioned about the bike, i'll inform you man.
Right now, 11 Bhp at 7500 Rpm.

            • This is getting murkier and murkier each passing day. Can never take sides as there's still dilema as to who stands correct and who does not. However, I just pray and wish the rightful owner gets the justice. Bking, keep prowling on and keep scouting for these scamsters, who knows you might get lucky somewhere. However, I am really confused, why isin't police able to trace him using the Mobile No. I've personally seen them using the Mobile Network Tower ID or what ever you call it in this case, to trace down the exact location of the mobile phone. This makes life even more easier. I've seen them send a mail once to Airtel, when I logded a complaint with Cyber Crime Cell, here in Hyderabad.

Thanks for the wishes buddy! All the questions and concerns that you have now have already been addressed. Many of your thoughts and questions are similar to other members. This is a very, VERY complext topic. I've said it before this topic needs to be read atleast twice from page 1. ONly then will one understand its complex reality.

The goal behind starting this topic, irrespective of we get the bike or not, is to make bikers aware of such scams. So please read the whole thing again, and I assure you, you will learn a lot of from it. Its not only about hoping to get the big back, but most importantly, you will learn how to spot a shady superbike and/or a brokers who propose to sell them to you. Good luck buddy!

Am afraid not rajoy123. I am not a single source. We are keeping updated with all websites that sell superbikes. Whether the bike is already been sold to an unsuspecting client, or perhaps it is still in hiding. The thieves just want all of us to forget.

If I get any clues, I will be the first to update it on this thread. Thanks to all members, I am getting personal messages or any suspicion reported. So far, in my opinion, not a clear cut clue.

Fact is, there are a lot of bikers on xbhp webiste, and judging by the number of views on this topic, the word will spread. But I am concerned about those passionate bikers not on xbhp. There are still people who don't know about xbhp.

But lets see man, fingers crossed. Let's hope for the best and prepare for the worst! cheers.

                      • i couldn't believe how i missed this thread from all these days.

                        @ Bking

buddy, i really hope that your friend gets his bike.
its clear as glass now as who is the culprit.
from your 1st ever post i can judge that your friend is the one to be trusted, i don't believe that accusation raised as of whom to trust and so and so.

i would like to appreciate YOU to put it up here, and hats off to your dedication and the idea of keeping the bikers aware about such things.
having a broken heart of losing a 600cc and still doing all this is really really a very very difficult job.

if i was offered a 600 at a lesser price and the registration was not transferred to my name (like in your friend's case) i myself would have gone for the deal eyes closed, and maybe would have ended up with a stolen or a seized bike.
but this thread really really helped in opening our eyes, showing us the right picture.

let us know whatever turns up, keep updates going and don't forget to keep nagging the police to find the bugger.
he should have been found as of now since you have his picture...

Right ON, Nanotechnology!!! Thank you for your compliments. This IS EXACTLY what I want other members to realize!!! I can't thank you enough!

As for as the bike is concerned, we are losing hope day by day. Yes, we are on the lookout at various websites, and my friend harish is on with the cops. But if you put yourself in the plight of the thief, we believe that he has gone into hiding, together with the bike. While everybody forgets, the thief will re-surface.

But rest assured buddy, the objective of this thread (as I've stated many times here itself) is to make other people aware of such scams. It is definitely going to achieve the following objectives:

                          1. Understand the legit nature of a clean bike
                          2. What papers to check for (apart from registration, the "bill of landing" is the most important document for a superbike)
                          3. What websites to look into.
                          4. An intricate understanding of the used superbike prices
                          5. What questions to ask to assess credibility of the bike to a seller or a broker
Now that you have read the thread, you know how they gave some money first, threw a DRI confiscation that was fake, and still we didn't buy it, then they send a fake lawyer notice, etc etc.

I really thank my friend Harish, because even though his bike got stolen, it was his idea to make me highlight this issue on xbhp! A lot of innocent men are cheated and it has led us to conclude that the thieves follow a specific set of protocols. yes, the word i am using is "protocol" , as they have a very specific set of plan. The plans are well tailored, very specific, to even not want you to transfer titles to your name. I am very proud of you Nanotechnology, as you didn't let your emotion or love for the bike deceive you. Another member from xbhp (can't remember his name) read this thread and decided to give up the plan for buying a used superbike, he went and got himself a kawasaki ninja 250R. Nothing is worth at the cost of peace of mind. Let me assure you, over 95% of the superbikes in India are grey, I repeat 95%. How do I know? Well, I myself was looking to buy a used superbike, told a lot of brokers, and personally inspected all the bikes. I saw over 40 bikes!! of which, one suzuki gsxr 100 (red and black) 2006 model was a clean bike. It is the same bike featured in Dhoom 2 movie, the one that hrithik roshan rides. The owner had all the papers, esp the bill of landing. And despite being a 2006 model, he quoted 8 lakhs for it, as he paid 100% duty, an MP state registered bike.

I know Nanotechnology, now that you have read this thread, you will tell atleast 5 more people. Those 5 other people will tell 5 more people each. I believe that I should also start posting these issue in other threads where people look for used superbikes.

                          Cheers buddy!

                          • yes Bking, knowledge is worth more than anything else, if everyone are aware of things, only then such scams can be diminished.
here there are loads of SBKs and i bet most of them are from grey market.

i don't think that the guy will sell off the bike easily after all this, even if he does so, the one who'll buy it will be a biker at heart and maybe google a bit about the bike or so and i am sure he'll somehow come to this thread.

there still stands a chance that you might find the guy.

even i wished to buy a sbk and as i said earlier, i might have done that too if i had an offer BEFORE reading this thread.

                            Now I've learnt it.
but this learning came a hard way for you and your friend and i really feel sorry for that.

i wish you get the bike, though it may sound too late now, but the only thing that still concerns me is the post by tenhut.
even if done by a completely legal way that too from a showroom, why do us bikers have to bear all this pain ??

i have been wishing to buy a Ducati hyperhotard from last two years, someday a time will come that I'll go and buy it. but even after buying it up from a ducati showroom if i have to suffer with this RTO or DRI crap, I'll be heart broken.

Not to worry Nanotechnology. The biking scene in India is going through a major transition (revolution would be more appropriate) phase. Yes, I understand your concern, especially after reading what TenHut has posted, how you have problems despite getting a legal bike.

But as I already noted, the government workers are just trying to save their skin, by being overly and unnecessarily cautious. You see, the DRI nailed a lot of RTO officials from mumbai, especially the MH06 and MH02 authorities for taking bribes and giving a registration certificate. I have heard from brokers that a bribe between Rs. 25,000 to Rs. 50,000 can get you an RC. This is another issue because those trying to re-sell superbikes with RC still does not make it legal. People need to know that the RC was obtained by bribes, and your bike can STILL be confiscated by the DRI if caught. Many dealers have told me that bike has RC, so it is a genuine bike, and I go like, "yeah right, give me a break man." What makes the bike legal is the Bill of Landing issued by the port authorities.

So now, you realize the problems that TenHut faced. Though he had a legal bike, the RTO officials have been nailed on their As**es so bad that now they are just plain afraid to issue registration. Tehre is always a question of "What if if the bike is really not legal. and If i may end up being suspended like the rest." Another way to look at this scenario is that RTO officials are just plain pissed because they can no longer take bribes, and given the typical goverment worker's attitude, they just want to create pain for super bike customers.

Rest assured Nanotech, I see this problem concerning registration happening only in Mumbai. I know people in hyderabad and chennai who have bought superbikes through showrooms had no issues with registration at RTO office.

So let this not discourage you from pursuing your dream buddy!!! Now that there is a big flow of many superbikes into india, bike companies will pressurize the RTO officials and make them do it hassel free for customers. I think beyond 2012, India would be a great place to buy and enjoy superbikes legally good luck my friend!
