    Hey grey

It was very nice to read your post. Very expressive and it indeed showed dat it was written right from the heart

I too had similar question in my mind when i was hunting for my bike. I liked fz6 alot and had seen it in a store and was ready to buy it. But i dont know, i still felt i was not 110% charged n pepped up. I felt something missing in my smile when i thought about owing the fz6.

Its then that i realised that i had not yet seen a new clean fully faired sportsbike with an eye of 'acquiring' it. On the roads when you see a bike zooming past you will just see all goody goody things, and you go mad about it. Its only when you really sit down to book a bike that a whole new set of questions start arising in ur mind, the kind of questions you never thought on when you saw them with the eye of an 'admirer'.

So coming to the point.....its subjective...like kenda n leonerd wrote...if i am more into city riding, for leisure, and the sense of satisfaction that "ya i own one of the finest and sexiest looking bike" i will go for a fuly faired one...and if i love it..even on a sportsbike if i tour, my back wont ache...evn if it aches ill not feel the pain...even if i feel the pain...ill say "its worth it" hehe. And my back till now has never given any problem...and ill go lil bit out of the tangent here..but i have experienced something that only a sportsbike owner mite know.

My first ride on my R6 was an out of the world experience. I fell so much in love with it that i didnt think anything over it...the first 2 weeks my wrists n arms used to ache a bit after riding because of the so called aggressive seating position. But after a month of riding, the pain was gone...and apart from that i realised that earlier during my weights session in te gym.. after few exercises wen i used to do my biceps...my wrists used to give up and the barbell or the dumbells were just literally hanging on my palms....but after i have started riding my R6...my wrists have become stronger and even my trainer noticed how fast the developement was...all thanks to my R6 that i got stornger wrists

Even nakeds have their own pros n cons and we have to take our call as what do we prefer. I am not a tourer i am more of a city rider so i was more inclined towards the R6...though now i am soon going to tour on my R6..but that is because i love it and think i will be able to do it.

If i had started this thread and even if everybody had voted for nakeds....i still think i would ave bought a sports bike So buddy all i can say is best of luck Choose smartly and do what your heart says

@neo da - thanks for the post :-) wanted to hear your views on the subject since you recently bought your sweet machine :-)

I love faired bikes. Don't take me wrong. I just found something in the triumph street/speed triples that i could relate to much better - they seemed to "fit" me better in terms of overall personality as well - frank, brutal, and a pure troublemaker

Somehow during the GODS meets when I stood oggling at the ceebers, the r1 and the many busas and boulevards, none of them made my pulse race quite like when I went to the yammie showroom and oggled the MT-01. Off late i've been spending more time with that monster as opposed to the R1. I don't know, the R1 looks great, performs great, but everytime I think about me and a faired bike, the fit seems a little off. The ninja 2005-6 zx6r is probably the only bike till now which would throw me off a naked.

Then came along my discovery of the speed triple

Now THATS a bike! It's mean, brutal, fast, and those bug eyes, monster dual underseat exhausts, and overall feel of the bike, coupled with the many MANY dyno graphs and ride reports I read just warmed me to it in a way that no bike or machine ever has. Probably the Audis, or the first time I saw an R1 in the flesh, but nothing has ever come close to this kind of a relation.

My only fear is, when I get it (oh and get it I will!! Have no doubts. 14 hour shifts, here I come!) is the reliability. The Jap fours have CRAZY reliability. The triumphs, being a smaller company, are not AS reliable as the japs. I've to do some in depth research on the kind of support on offer from our friendly importers and SBK mechanics for a triumph and triples. I know there are a (few?) rocket IIIs in delhi, and a thunderbird in GODS. Will just have to try and chat with the owners and see how they get their shit solved.

With the internet, a lot of your questions can get answered, and you can ask your mechanic to do it, or if you're a wrench jockey, then DIY.

But you'd probably understand this the best - when I even think about the street triple(since it's a more practical bike than the speed and STILL more bike than I could handle!) my pulse races, i feel a light gud-gud in the stomach, and I can hear that throaty, zing zing mixed with GROWL exhaust note of that bike. Yum. Damn I feel it again!

      Stick to your guns people!

      More faired bike owners POVs.

ROSSITER?????? Where art thou???? GS? Kriss? Manav? PCSaketh? Where are all these people?

your point on the fairing for wind deflection is VERY valid! But then again, if you can go upto 130-150 on a naked and tuck in a wee bit and escape a bit of the wind, I'm cool with that! Going at speeds of 200/250/300 in this country is just asking for trouble!

Of course, later in my life, I'd definitely want to get myself a faired 600 as well - and in 5 to 10 years, the 600s will evolve with more mid range - alot of manufacturers are desperately aiming towards making those hot sellers near perfect. Hopefully by then the F1 track in Noida will be launched. Once that happens, I'm getting my self a tricked out track only faired bike!

Doing 100km/h + on any bike starts showing the effects of wind drag. 130-150 on a naked bike is more of just trying to show an effort of being able to do that speed. You will not be able to sustain it for long.. Try doing 110 on a non faired bike like a pulsar/cbz and then compare doing the same speed on a ZMA. Even the half fairing on the ZMA & P220 helps a lot.

Hehe...greynaroth...i pretty much understand whats going on in your mind and thats excatly what i wanted to say...i didnt want to prove that faired bikes are the best...all i was trying to imply is that it all depends on your personal choice.

Even i like MT-01 alot...before i finalised my bike, i was seriously thinking on all of these bikes you mentioned...i found that i am sort of on a cross road wherein i like most of the bikes...even Suzuki B-king, mt-01...i simply love dem...they are stunning...but dunno they still dodnt titilate my heart as much as the faired ones...So its all upto you, i love both of them but if i wanna buy, at present i am gonna go for the faired ones...dunno with time i might 'evolve' n start preferring nakeds over faired ones I am in a position that even if im married to katrina...i wudnt stop ogling at kareena or priyanka hehe

Ur on the right path...tc and waiting for a good reason to visit delhi

In India, nakeds hands down. In Europe or the US, at a home not far from a track, faired definitely.

BTW, greyanaroth, your enthusiasm for the Triple is contagious man
Many more people will be gunning for nakeds after this thread and farfromnormals acquisition.

Comeon man, you're buying a bike for yourself, not to leave a stricken look on a fellow rider's face!! The sleeper scene is so overdone all over.
And, trust me bud you will be looking at your bike a zillion more times than you'll see a surprised look on anyone's face.

                  The fully faired one
WHich zooms - splashing the oncoming air
Like to fly in the streets like a rocket..........

Well Naked ones - looks good ---- but there are few things to be considere in it
It is not easy to wash or remove dusts in the naked one
Since the INidan roads are fully breezed - so oncoming wind will reduce your speed - whereas in fully faired bikes - these can be avoided

Buying a 'proper' mmotorcycle is still a distant ( a very distant ) dream for me and no i've never ridden a supersport or a naked. The closest i ever got to was pillion on a Comet and a very short ride on my buddy's RD.

Well here's my take.If you think about Indian riding condition's and all sorts of practicality,i think the only place you should even think of owning a supersport in the country is well, Madras which has got the MMST.I mean, considering our scenario a torquey naked is the way to go,IF practicality is your main concern.

But then, for a 20 year old like me (who does know the advantages of a naked here),my heart just oozes with love for a sleek supersport.I mean like i just don't feel satisfied when i ride and own a naked in my dreams. It just doesn't feel complete.I dunno why.Mebbe it's my age.Mebbe there's a poser in me.But this is what my heart tells.

And if i ever own a naked,it's gonna be the brutal '08 V-Max.

A doubt to the Guru's - But aren't Supersport's equipped with better handling ? Or is the handling advantage negligible in the Indian scenario ?

Personal Experience, the ZMA half fairing is absolute bull pooh! its causes more problems then it can ever aid.....
Havent got a chance to rip a P220 yet but then again its overall handling is a different thing altogether....

                          Naked Lovin'

                          I'm into naked lovin'!
Just the engine, frame, mechanicals and design of a naked styled motorcycle get me all excited!
Full Faired Sportsbike's somehow just dont evoke such an emotion from me.
The only Sportsbike that caught my attention was a Black 2007 Suzuki Hayabusa!
(I quite like the lines of this bike! Although, It's styling is quite different from that of other Sportsbikes)

i havent tried a superbike yet .. the fully faired bike looks cool but you get a lot of attention while riding which I truly hate... maybe the loooks of rd 350 or yamaha rx 100 with a 800cc engine .. does such a bike really exist ? i dont know .. i am really poor with motorcycle history outside our country ...

                                From a layman/ kid's perspective -
Naked bikes makes feel that the biker knows a hell lot about bikes, real addict!
Faired bikes makes feel that the biker is cool though, doesn't know much about bikes....

Both have pros and cons... nakeds are more practical, but I never got a chance to ride a fully-faired baby, so it's my last-desire to ride something like CBR1000RR and feel atleast 150bhps between my legs before going to hell....
