Sorry about keeping it under wraps guys. It's just that the MT01 and GS story has been an on and off love affair. I was being superstitous about it, and trying to keep cool. We are closer than ever to getting GS the bike, but still a lot of ground work/paper work left for him to snort away into the sunset
I hope to have my bike up and running by then

Totally uderstandable Mr.GS. I hope things go smooth this time round. The bush has never been anywhere close to PC's body. Anyone who visits this read and reads this piece of information must have their fingers crossed. Waiting for those 10days to pass by. All the best GS.Originally posted by gsferrari View PostI guess it is IMPOSSIBLE to keep this kind of stuff secret for too long. The thing is - I've tried to get one before and the plans have always flopped. This time I've gone in with bagfuls of money so I am harboring half a hope that I will leave Bangalore with my dream bike in 10 days time.
Yes...I have booked the LAST MT01 in the country and I am pretty happy just now. Still have some obstacles to sort out...didn't want to jinx my luck...hence the elaborate silence.
No - Akhil won't be buying his own MT01 - We plan to do some bike-swapping on a regular basis. My MT01 will be christened "Thor" and his R1 has already been christened "Phwoar".
Just say a small prayer so this happens cleanly this time. Fed-Up of beating around the bush...unless it is the bush somewhere in the middle of Proyanka Chopra's body...sigpic

Thanks Saaki. But all good things have to come to an end. Compatibility is not everything, the stark truth.
Update: Received an email saying the head will arrive on Friday. I don't think the delay was due to Customs as was previously informed to me. Not sure what the delay is still.
Bottom line is.. I have had enough. I am leaving it to them to fix up the bike as and when the part comes in, and to their satisfaction. I am not even going to bother to check whether the bike has been repaired properly.
Reason for this is that I've decided to sell the R1 off. I have totally lost faith in their after sales support, or lack of it. If by the end of this month, the bike isn't ready yet, I will sell it off in an as-is condition. Don't care how much money I get in that scenario, but I just want to be rid of the headache once and for all.
Coming to this point has been a long and painful process, especially since I am so attached to the R1. Fellow members who have seen me with my bike will attest to that fact.
It is a truly heartbreaking decision, but one that had to be made.

This is heartbreaking indeed Akhil! Sad to hear about your decision but i guess its for the best. Its been a waste of time and financial resources. I hope the bike gets fixed in due time but it has been a long and painful wait for you to get things moving.
I read through the posts on the r1-forum and some of the members had their bike fixed without any questions asked, seems like Yamaha is aware of this issue.
But here in India, yamaha has turned their back on its valued customers. I hope they learn a lesson in someway or the other soon!!!--------------------------------

No!!!!!! Akhil I cant believe on your decision of selling the One and the most hurting part is definetly the Closure of this thread....all I can think about is the million times you would have thought before taking up this decision....
Well the bright side is that you can think of another SBK....take care man...Hammer the racetrack. Pace yourself on the street.

That is Sad indeed
. It was not expected of Yamaha, instances like these are not going to help them, if they are seriously thinkng of launchin big bikes.
it is very dissappointing
the pain shows in your words rossitier, but i hope you get another one of those big machines very soon in near future

Based on my discussions with Akhil over the last few months and his current frame of mind, I have been forced to stall my plans for the MT01 as well. This is hugely disappointing. We are already quite mad to put down large sums of money for these bikes...I don't think I can put up with poor service, lies and several months of downtime just for the privilege of riding a big bike. My zma offers me trouble-free motoring...why cant I expect this from a 12 lakh motorcycle?

The worst thing is that Yamaha is so drunk on the success of the R15 and FZ16 that they dont really care about these niche products. The attitude they projected when I wanted to buy the MT01 was shocking...they didnt care if I bought one or not and they were happy to let me know that it made no difference to them.

sad to hear this .. none of us would expect such a beautiful and expensive piece of machine out of order for such a long time (has it been 6 mnths already?)
@gs : They know that MT01 and R1 have done their job of resurrecting the brand again , why bother with one or two customers for these beasts!
With bad service with official bikes , DRI raiding the grey market buyers , is there any option left for us?sigpicThe Moto Cafe - India's first bike theme cafe @ Chandni Chowk

Akhil, to be frank I expected this long back. There is a limit to how much a person can adjust or accept things. This is just a bit way over ur head!!
Kinda shows the poor status of CBU imports. Sad to see one of the first CBU import customers doing this.
GS, Ur TZR and RDs shud give u much more trouble-free motoring, much much more thrill man!!! India may have matured as far as CBUs go, but the attitude of people still needs a LOT of improvement.
Hope Yam take this as a clue!Last edited by Aparajith; 06-15-2009, 06:14 PM.Democracy is when 2 wolves and a sheep meet to decide who is for dinner. Liberty is when the sheep has a gun.
