  • @Apar: I've not lost my cool so far because there is no point in doing so. I'll wait until the repairs are done and then I'll take it up with the relevant people.

@OF: Right said there.. But I did have some hopes when there were a few cases of work going ahead extremely fast. There was one case of an R1 here which had a fall and needed swingarm replacement. The whole thing, from order placement to the bike being back on the road was completed within 10 working days. But like you said, there seems to be an air of mystique around the bike which makes it seem like extra terrestrial technology.

    @santa: Interesting suggestion

@Maverick: Yeah I've just been waiting and waiting man.. Still waiting

In the meantime, let me at least post up some pics of the CF bits that have gone onto the bike. I'll get some pics later this evening

    • This is still better service than Skoda India

Dude...I share your frustrations (as you know) and my own tiny Yammie is taking forever to get off the ground. Perhaps a switch to Sunny favorite Honda (pun intended) may be worth looking into.

Too bad most Honda service centers are run by proverbial grease monkeys. I have marked Honda service centers in my mental GPS and avoid these areas because there is a chance a pissed off customer might set a bomb off out of frustration...

Hang in there and courier the R1s keys to me when the bike is ready. You've waited this long...why not wait a few more months and let me run it in nicely while you explore the heights of the himalayas

      • ^^GS, are u talking about HONDA bikes or cars?

P.S: What u say about SKODA INDIA is true. A friend of mine had a personal experience with a Fabia.

You talking about Skoda and VW. You should look at Honda. Cheap skates and service till eternity! Wait like longer than forever.

Bikes...Honda and Hero Honda have some of the WORST service process/QC etc. Utter rubbish...this will rain on their big-bike parade big time.

No complaints with Honda (CAR) service in Chennai/Mumbai. The company has pretty high C-Sat ratings on the service front. Perhaps it is a different story in the capital city

Terrible! I was with a Foreign correspondent to test ride a vehicle, which we do often! It took them over 72 hours to send a vehicle after promising one "Within the hour". Reason; they had problems with procuring petrol. We refused to test it when it came 3 days later!!!

I hope Yamaha gives us better service than That!

              • So the update after a few strong emails is that.. The part is in Singapore as of day before. It should've been sent by DHL to Faridabad, and will be hand carried from there to Bangalore. So, by mid of next week, the work should be starting. Let's hope for the best.

The chaps in Bangalore Wheels were busy yesterday so we couldn't get the CF bits on. My next CF part will most likely be the front fender and the tank cover.

I am not India bashing here, but I don't know ... theres something about the Indian subsidiaries of these multinational companies !!

I've had experience with Aviva Insurance in India and in UK (its called Norwich Union there) and the over customer experience was much better in UK !!

excuse my ignorance, but what exactly are "CF parts" ? I did a google on it but did not get any relevant results ...

                          • Fresh update: The head was opened up today. I had no idea that the repair work will be started today, and they came in the morning and left in a few hours.

So, they opened her up, discovered that the inlet valve was jammed, and the valve stem had run itself through to a small bit. This is the description of the technician, and I couldn't get an accurate picture from what he said. The failed part(s) have been taken by Yamaha, so I have no clue what they look like. Being a hands on guy, this is very frustrating for me.

Because the damage is so intense, they are now recommending a new head itself. The head will be ordered tomorrow and I will be pushing them to get the bike up and running by this week.

Will go tomorrow to have a look at my engine all opened up

                              • The new head can take anywhere between 3-60 days, depending on whether "stock" is available in Singapore/Japan/Europe, in that order.
