Not a chance. Still a day or two away for me to ride off. Right now the radiator, fuel rail, injectors are going on to the bike. The head has been installed. After this, we'll do a systems check, and tomorrow will be a short ride, following which I would want them to check the valve clearances for any post-installation hiccups. So quite a bit of work left.Originally posted by satyenpoojary View PostSomething tells me you are already on the road on the R1
I actually did the same thing that GS talked about. I just rode it normally, except for the maniacal speed bursts that I soon grew out of.Originally posted by Streetfighter View PostRossi buddy; could all this mess have happened due to careful running in during the initial few hundred kms? Just thinking aloud as I kind of lean towards the school of thought that advocates hard running during the first few hundred miles.
So it's all good.
@OF: Thanks for the wonderful writeup there. I will replicate the text in the engine run-in thread(s) that keep popping up every now and then. Like you said, running in is all about managing heat, in a nutshell. Fantastic..

You've got some nerve for someone who just had a valve-guide failure. I'll be telling your future wife about it with a biological twistOriginally posted by rossiter View PostYou can take the guy out of Rajnikanth-land, but you can't take the Rajnikanth dialogues out of the guy.

I'm sure this must've been thrown about somewhere on these forums but here it is again; and I pretty much agree with this write up

Oh and I forgot to mention; I've seen the effects of running in cautiously in real life. A friend and me identical brand new cars. I used to thrash the car and his grandpa used to drive it like a cycle. After a year or so when I drove his car I found it ran like a dog. This could be coincidental and many other factors may have been at play here but that incident has been stuck in my head to date.sigpic StreetFighter

Egads! Now the ECU is throwing out an error code..
After all the assembly was done, they turned the ignition on to find an error code and it pointed to a faulty ignition coil on cylinder no.3, which again is/was the problematic cylinder. As of now, they're still trying to fix it."Tough times never last, but tough people do." - Robert Schuller

On behalf of Akhil - the ECU error is sorted out. Cleared out the connectors with cleaning solutions and generous use of compressed air and the problem has gone away.
The bike is being cleaned up and polished and Akhil will finally take Phwoar home this evening...after 4 months!!
He'll have it for a couple of weeks before I steal it from him

Yes.. I will be taking Phwoar home this evening.. Will be checking to see if all is in order and then will report back.
PS: What I forgot to tell GS is that, after all the cleaning and checking the connectors, the error still didn't go away, and they just went ahead and started it up, the error disappeared!
Probably the ECU was just throwing out the error based on the last time the engine was running or something. But all's well that ends well. Will write more later."Tough times never last, but tough people do." - Robert Schuller
