Sad that the R1 was grounded for couple of months last year! I am sure you must have had sleepless nights, Rossiter.
Anyways, keep the thread flowing with updates. Good luck. Hope to catch you and your 1 someday.
Thanks Makky let me know the next time you're in town. Will catch up for sure.

If the crack on the cylinder head bolt was microscopic (saw pic on FB), I can imagine how difficult it would have been to locate. But glad it is fixed now

I wish you could have brought the S1000RR down here.. It looks menacing to say the least (asymmetrical or whatever), & I'm not at all talking about the insane power it dishes out
    Thanks tibby

The R1 completes 15000 km! Will be checking in for valve clearances and other checks generally done at 15000 km.

Been playing around with the engine maps and doing some trial and error with various maps. So far, I haven't found anything which is 100% but works well most of the time (read: Street usage).

Haven't been to the tracks in a couple of months, but that should be rectified next month

Also, finally got around to installing a bunch of aftermarket parts, namely:

    1) Speedohealer - To fix any speedo errors.
    2) CF parts - Carbon fibre front fender, rear hugger, tank cover.
    3) Integrated LED tail-light. Gives the rear a cleaner look.
    4) Probolt titanium bolts - For the axles, brake calipers and swing arm nuts.

    Will post up pics soon

I am planning to do it myself, just need tools and time. I don't trust anyone with my bike nowadays.

Yeah, Thor the MT-01 has done 20k+ in a year, out of which I've contributed 5k to it.

Satyen, you are one of the earliest members I used to interact with on the forum, a good 3 years ago almost.

Which head bolt slip are you talking about?

Oh sure.. I'm willing to wager you'll take another 2 years to do 20k, and by then I'd have done 40k

a complete movie can be made out of it about the unending love of the bikers and their steeds.........

was spellbound with the amount of sincerity in writing the thread and the updates and was shocked to learn about the customer service...

                • I don't think Rossiter will be catching up to my mileage anytime soon. The demands of his existence are far too great to let him venture out for a long ride. Work, family, the fairer sex and a whole list of distractions that keep him behind me in the mileage game

(all this prodding is designed to jerk him into the realization that Kriss' death anniversary just went by and we are yet to do the tribute ride...)

So Mr.Rossiter - dare I say a ride into the hills of Tirupati is in the offing somewhere around Diwali?

Akhil, you seem to have disowned this thread.

Treat us to some pics of the bike with the aftermarket stuff (you didn't seem to have any of these on the bike this past Sunday).

Also, please post a sound clip of the awesome exhaust note.

The pleasure is when your rear wheel slides, and you bring it back; and when the front wheel lifts, you take your time bringing it back.

                      • The R1 turns 3 today

Rode her to work, thinking about all the memories she has given me the last 3 years. And in true R1 form, just as I reached my office, the check engine light came on. Had to top up oil

I plan to do a little ride today, and a longer ride later this month.

3 years have just whizzed by, and I remember Day 1 like it was yesterday. Thanks in part to all my friends here, I am motoring on like it is still Day 1.
