It's a one piece leather suit man. We'll talk more in the riding gear thread if required.

Yeah it's been a really long time. I need to catch up with everyone as well. We'll do it sometime.

                    • I know the guys you were talking about, but I didn't go riding with them. I generally don't ride with other guys whom I don't know, because group riding with big bikes is dicey on our roads.

Anyway, it was a fun Sunday, and like you said, plenty of big bikes and cars around.

                          • It is now 2 weeks since I got Phwoar back. Since then, I've logged in about 1000 kms and I took the bike in to have a look at the plugs. The plugs were greyish-white and were showing that the engine is running on the leaner side. Either that or the engine was overheating. A look at the coolant reservoir also showed that the coolant level was very low. Refilled the coolant level, and prepared the bike for a quick compression test.

All the cylinders gave a steady reading of 165 to 170 PSI. It was developing good compression, with the new head installed and everything.

Decided to run with it some more and re-check the plugs. Once the bike is running with the race baffles, it will be even more leaner which means I'll have to go the PC3 way to even out the A/F mixture.

That aside, I have been having a blast on Phwoar. Rides include the daily commute to work and back, a quick dash to Channapatna for a bite at McDonalds, another quicker dash to Chikmagalur for some late night/early morning coffee.

Still riding it, although the arrival of Thor into the garage, and work has lead to me being off Phwoar for a few days. So when I took Phwoar out today, I felt it was tiny and ever so nimble after riding the MT01 from Hubli and around the town yesterday.

Will be taking Phwoar in for service for an oil change and couple of small niggles. And pick up Thor at the same time. I'm doing some serious SBK babysitting alright

                              • Thor (MT-01) feels MASSIVE compared to the R1. I recall landing at Akhil's place on the MT-01 and walking into the garage to check out Phwoar. When I saw the bike I felt a tug at my heart...perhaps I'd made the wrong decision by going for the MT-01 instead of an R1

About an hour later, post-dinner, we decided to ride out to meet some friends and I wanted to have a go on the R1. The bike suddenly felt so TINY compared to the MT-01. It really does feel like an RX-100 after you ride a bullet for many years

The sound and the way it builds revs are so different from the MT-01 that you stop and wonder how Yamaha decided to bring two incredibly disconnected motorcycle philosophies to India. It would have made far more sense to show up with the FZ1 and the R1. The MT-01 seems like a diabolical spin on their part to Shock and Awe!!!!...because that is what the MT-01 does!

While the R1 is a precision blade in the hands of a Surgeon...the MT-01 is a chainsaw in the hands of a pyromaniac

After a short ride on the R1 I decided that it was clearly not the bike for me. The aggressive riding posture and the lack of bottom end grunt wouldn't work out for someone as large and heavy as me. The MT-01 lacks the outright performance and manic powerband of the R1 but it puts such a big smile on my face...and such a big hole in my checkbook.

I love both these bikes and thanks to Akhil...i'll get to experience them as often as I like. They are like apples and oranges...men and women...cats and dogs...and I'm loving every minute I get to spend with them
