        • Phew! though at the last, everything went well and the one & master got themselves rejuvenated at the track, good!

          P.S- sorry for hijacking different issue but can we start something(via public support)which would make govt. to lower the taxes implied on SBK's? when even planes & yachts don't command so much duties?

            • @sheelpriye: Thanks! That's a good suggestion, but bureaucracy is a difficult adversary. No matter how many groups we make, or how big it is, I don't see things changing.
              @jfazer: Thanks!

              Thanks everyone, sorry am replying so late as well.

              Quick update on the R1:

              14002 kms completed, and now the front tyre has been changed as well. Have gone for an OEM Pilot Power soft compound again. I actually wanted a 2CT, but consecutive track events made sure tyres were not available immediately

              As the front was nearly decimated, and speeds of even 80 kmph was unsafe, I decided to go with what I had. A service, and a tyre change cost me around 13k, and she's buzzing again. Planning to install a PC3 in a week or so to sort out some fuelling gaps at the top end of the RPM.

              She's giving me a healthy mileage of about 15 kmpl with 80-20 highway-city traffic usage.

              Planning to head to Kari at the end of the month for the indimotard T.W.O racing school.

              Motoring on!

                  The pleasure is when your rear wheel slides, and you bring it back; and when the front wheel lifts, you take your time bringing it back.

                      Thank you for your wishes. It's remarkable and humbling to find such comments even after a good 2 years of this thread being around

                      Just got the R1 back after a track session last month. The R1 sprung an oil leak when I was at the track, and it turned out to be a cracked cylinder head bolt. The crack along the bolt was so minute, that it was letting out oil only under high load conditions (high RPMs). The cause can be put down to a bad install when they were putting my engine back. Got a new one on the machine and it's running fine now.

                      Otherwise, I've just been experimenting with engine maps, and thanks to Poncho and some good advice, I'm using a map which seems to be working for me 80% of the time.

                      As for the S1000RR, it left my garage in the US last month. It is safe hands and the new owner is turning into it a race bike, something which these bikes are truly meant for. The bike will be used in a national racing series, and I cannot be happier.

                            They are supposed to. But they don't use torque wrenches all the time.

                            @sheelpriye: Yep again.

                            • I finished this thread at a single go in the morning. Amazing thread! It kept me hooked to the last. Couple of one liners were simply superb.
                              Sad that the R1 was grounded for couple of months last year! I am sure you must have had sleepless nights, Rossiter.
                              Anyways, keep the thread flowing with updates. Good luck. Hope to catch you and your 1 someday.

                                Nice to see Phwoar is frequenting the tracks, where it belongs to
                                If the crack on the cylinder head bolt was microscopic (saw pic on FB), I can imagine how difficult it would have been to locate. But glad it is fixed now

                                I wish you could have brought the S1000RR down here.. It looks menacing to say the least (asymmetrical or whatever), & I'm not at all talking about the insane power it dishes out
