  • @Akhil: Congrats on the 'third time is a charm' anniversary. Any chance of commemorating the occasion by getting Phwoar a two-wheeled garage mate apart from Thor and the P180?

P.S: Please do try and keep us informed on the ride. Have been longing to allow the zeema to stretch her legs from her usual city-commute-duty...

Congrats Akhil. I remember your thread on the issues you faced with the bike when it was brand new and how much you had to run around to get it sorted out. Anyone else may have disposed it off and bought some other bike but you chose to fight it out and keep the bike... shows your love for the machine and the way she looks and moves today is proof of that. Congrats and wishing you many more happy and safe years with theOne.

Thanks Sundar! I'll surely hit you up man. How're you doing otherwise? You've been awfully quiet of late?

Thanks Aditya! I will admit that I did want to sell it, but somehow I stuck it out and it's running like a dream and howls like a monster.

And I almost went the Ducati way, but it wasn't meant to be..

Please also bestow the honor on us by letting us ride with you on our puny ninja's.

Nandi hills is boring. Not much of a ride and curves are way too sharp to corner. But get here and we'll plan out a meet.

Yup. I got the S1000RR in the US on one of my visits and I wanted to bring it back. But then I got wind of the BMW guys launching the bikes here in India and I sold it to a race team.

Anyway, just got the R1 back from the 15000 km service. Here's the cost breakup for the service:

                        1) Yamalube 20w40 4 litres: 775.33
                        2) Air filter: 1480.2
                        3) Oil filter: 616.74
                        4) Crankcase cover gasket: 440.53
                        5) Head (nut): 352.42
                        6) Rivet (2 nos): 176.11

                        Sub-total: 3841.41

                        Labour:

                        1) General Service: 3500
                        2) Clutch Overhaul: 750
                        3) Coolant topup: 400.

                        Sub-total: 4650.

                        Total: Spares+Labour = Rs. 9489.00

Minor complaints like a little rattling noise from the clutch, and some nuts and bolts missing from when I misplaced them at the track. Compression test was done, and 3 out of 4 cylinders were pumping out 175 psi, as against one which was low at 130. Need to figure out what to do with that one cylinder.

The plugs were also checked in great condition and were in perfect condition, showing a tan colour, which means that the engine is running just perfect. It feels that way as well because the R1 is flying now.

Pics and a sound clip of the new exhausts coming up.

Would wait for further updates as RSV-4 too has come in

I still have the sound clip of your bike's exhausts that I took the other day.
Wasn't able to upload it as it was an audio clip. Will play around with moviemaker & make a small vid so that its uploadable. Will try & do it ASAP.

The pleasure is when your rear wheel slides, and you bring it back; and when the front wheel lifts, you take your time bringing it back.
