Hope all works out well soon, i would recommends putting up a thread at Yamaha R1 Forum, if you haven't done it already, you can get fast and experienced answers there. What i have read on the process, it seems to be a complex one but yamaha would be the best people to re flash the ECU.
But maybe this would be some help if yamaha can't -
Dynojet's Autotune device comes with wideband sensors to widen your available fuel tuning options and help your motorcycle stay in tune while you ride by making real-time changes to your air/fuel ratio. Place your order online now.

Also was able to find a stock map here (its at the bottom) -

Dynojet is the world leader in performance enhancement products for motorcycles and cars. Push the limit of your vehicle with our powersports vehicle parts.

    Hope it helps.

    • nice pics. they need to put more tracks in india ! only way they can train riders with the skills they need in a safe enviroment. and who knows maybe a future rossi is there somewhere.

I read ages ago that some places in the US can hack the ECU and change mapping. if i come across another link ill post it up . your other option is a power commander V . I dont know if they supply it for your model R1 but it has an auto tune fucntion that may be worth looking into.

btw are those pictures taken at the start, mid or end of the corner?? Just wondering if you were trail braking into the corners with the finger on the brake lever.

Yes I did post about the 2CTs, but when I finally needed a rear tyre, none of the Yamaha dealers had them in stock. So I had to go with whatever he had because my R1 was leaving for Kari that day. In any case, I'll be getting some ultra sticky Power Ones for the tracks soon. This one I'll be ripping it up with a couple more trackdays. Not very happy with it to be honest, but it's good enough for the time being. That said, I still have some tread left over in my original rear PP tyre, which I can also use.

I don't want to load the battery up more than I already have, so HIDs are out of the question. I don't do much riding in the nights nowadays, so this gives me the best VFM considering my usage. As for the X-treme Power, GS already picked up the Osrams for me, so I can't opt for it now

I'm not too sure whether they don't feature a back protector with all their suits, but I was using my Cramster inside the suit. You may be right, I haven't seen any Astars full suits with the back protector so far. But then again, I don't really follow the gear trends too much, they keep updating far too often and the price tags depress me.

Thanks for the links man. Am already looking at getting a PC3 offline.

Thanks csgup1. Am lucky to be in Bangalore which is more or less equidistant (4 hours) from the two tracks open for the public in the country. Agree with you about the training, but there are a lot of private initiatives on which are plucking out potentials among 14-15 year olds. We will some results very soon hopefully. Can't believe at 24, I can be considered over the hill if I take up racing.

The PC-V is meant for the latest generation bikes ( > 2009 Harleys, R1s etc). Wouldn't work with my R1 but the autotune function is downright yummy. Would be lovely to have it done on the go.

THere is a company here in Bangalore that works on ECUs so am trying to see if they will be able to map my R1. All said and done, I sorely need a dyno to see how the engine is running with the current stock mapping.

Those pics are taken mid corner, and am not even close to trail braking. I like to keep a finger on the brake lever just in case.

        • almost every rider who is famous started riding when they were less than 10 years old. however anyone can pick up racing for a bit of fun..... I would highly reccomend not keeping a finger on the lever , your first survival reaction will be to grab the brakes when you should be gassing it out if a situation arises. grabbing the brakes will just add to the chance of a washout , plus it feels 'less busy'

          • At 13542 kms on the odo, my R1 turned two today. Can't believe it's been two years already. I still remember the people who were posting in that first thread. Been a long time, lots of experiences

Just to share.. the first person to celebrate the R1's birthday was my mom. Early in the morning, she did a little puja in the garage and The One sported tilaks / namams as I zipped down to office on it

                            • @Akhil: Here's wishing you and Phwoar a very happy 2nd anniversary. It seems like it was hardly a few months ago (which happened to be one of the most meomorable days of my life) when you, very graciously, allowed me to join you on Phwoar's first 'official' service at BW

Here's looking forward to you adding a certain Italian companion to Phwoar in the near future !

                              Cheers !
