What kinda niggles are you facing though? Hope they aren't engine related.Originally posted by rossiter View PostA long overdue update:
The R1 has done about 10k now. She's running well and had a couple of irritants looked at during a service camp two weeks ago.
Cost of service: Rs. 5xx for the oil filter.
Oil: 3 litres Yamalube 20W40.. 2xx * 3.
The work done was fast and efficient, although a few niggles remain. I am supposed to be checking and giving them feedback for the resolution of the problem. Haven't been doing too much riding lately though.I'm normally not a praying man, but if you're up there, please save me Superman.

Damn had to pull this thread out of oblivion. Just realised how irregularly I am updating the thread
Updates: The R1 completes 12.5k of service. No major headaches to report except for fuelling issues at the top end of the RPMs. Finally went in for a new tyre, ahead of the TWO Racing school at Kari. I wanted to track the bike with a new rear tyre so that an old tyre won't play tricks on my mind while going into the 80 kmph C1
I wanted a Michelin PP soft tyre, but the dealer had Pilot Sport which was slightly harder than Pilot Power. So I bought it for Rs. 12000. It was only at the trackday that I realised that the Michelin showroom in Bangalore stocks Pilot Power 2CTs which would have been perfect. Guess I'll kill this tyre with a couple more trackdays and go for the 2CTs.
In the meantime, on the touring front, there was a quick weekend dash to Kerala and back, as well as a couple of blasts to Chikmangalur. Good fun, and am in love with the R1 more than ever.
Will also be upgrading the stock lamps to Osram Nightbreaker soon.
That's about it for now. Will keep updating more frequently."Tough times never last, but tough people do." - Robert Schuller

The guys at Ducati wouldn't take my money and suddenly jacked up the prices almost 60%. To me that is very unethical. Plus lots of people warned me about the pre-sales practices of the company that Ducati has authorised to sell the bikes, so am putting my money where it should have originally gone.. Into my bankOriginally posted by satyenpoojary View PostNice to see you having time now to update us about the aaargh one! What happened about your Ducati plans saar?

Nice to see this thread being updated again, has the after sales service really improved by Yamaha and would you recommend anyone to buy the new 2010 R1 with the fiasco you had with them or you think there attitude has changed. Could please elaborate with fuelling issue. Also would really love to the pics of Phowar when you were at Kari.Four wheels move the body. Two wheels move the soul.

@Ken: I know!Originally posted by Raoul Black View PostNice to see this thread being updated again, has the after sales service really improved by Yamaha and would you recommend anyone to buy the new 2010 R1 with the fiasco you had with them or you think there attitude has changed. @Raoul Black: 1) Fuelling issues : The engine seems to be running very lean at the top end, where most of the power is developed. At the track, this was a major irritatant as the engine would stop dead on me at the top end. Need to figure out a way to map the ECU properly to resolve the problem. I might also be getting a Power Commander to fix it.
2) After sales: My advice to a potential Yamaha CBU customer is.. Just pray that the vehicle you get is free of any possible defects, which would require special attention. If you do manage to get a trouble-free vehicle, then Yamaha India will provide you with the best after sales support compared to the other companies selling their CBU products.
As for some photos, here you go:

Really cool to see to you putting your knee down, i can only imagine how fun it would have been for you to rip up Kari with the One. As for the fuellin issue wasn't it there before and if it wasn't how could it develop now. As for the power commander, don't you need a dyno for getting the perfect map for your set up, i heard the maps you get off the internet are crap.
But i hope all becomes well soon.

Ken, I've told you 'n' times. Just put the One in a truck and send it to me, and fly down. The rest are all minor details.Originally posted by ken cool View PostAmazing stuff! Good to see you go thus. Can you see me turn all green!!!
Thanks man. And the fuelling issue wasn't present before the engine work. Which is what makes it a bit confusing. ANyway, yeah for a power commander setup and custom tuning, I do need a dyno. Which is why I am trying to see if the maps in the current ECUs can be changed. Let's see how it works out.Originally posted by Raoul Black View PostReally cool to see to you putting your knee down, i can only imagine how fun it would have been for you to rip up Kari with the One. You were the one that first posted sometime back that the Yamaha showroom sells 2CT's. The rear 2CT costs 10.5-11k here. You paid a bomb for the sport!Originally posted by rossiter View PostDamn had to pull this thread out of oblivion. Just realised how irregularly I am updating the thread

I would recommend the Philips X-treme power bulbs over the Osrams. I have installed the Nightbreakers in an R1 before and the Philips are much better. Honestly, my personal suggestion would be HID's (4300k or 5000k) in the projectors. Its just unbelievable light. My friends bike has HID's in all four headlights!
The full suit doesn't seem like it has a back protector in it. I remember reading that Alpinestars 'surprisingly' doesnt give one with the suit. Is that true?
