@Rossiter: For the first time, I felt Samarth has given a good&matured piece of advice. I would also say the same. Though its very frustrating, please try to wait for some more time as you have already waited for so long.
I also feel that sometimes it is just our bad luck that we get a faulty piece. Don't be biased, get this bike repaired&then replace it with the 09 R1 or Busa or any other bike that interests you! I'm sure your next bike will not trouble you at all.

I once had a friend who was bereft at the loss of a very dear iconic friend and wanted to sell off his bike at the earliest. But patience and persistence helped him become a very mature rider. I would suggest, give One another chance. An emotional roller coaster is not the best thing to ride in with. Everything will be fine. You losses can't be recovered to the same extent your joy that comes on excursions with the One. If you are still thinking why you, there are some people who sell 10 year old bikes and then repent why did they do on someone else's words. Don't believe me, see this thread...

BTW anybody tried finding out about other 08 models sold through Yamaha India? Whether they face similar problems?

And thank god for xbhp. I presume Yamaha officials do dig through threads here. Hope good sense prevails, because Rossiter's not the careless kind who'd damage his own bike.

i own an 06 R1 and it was bought secondhand and had it checked n test rode it by my dear friend n chief mechanic n till now by gods grace i havnt had a prob its now run abt 2000kms in 3 months....i wud say the good mechanics who work on SBKs r beter off than these so called" trained service people" who would have only studied some manuals and would have probably gone for a weeks or months course in japan or someplace and they would only know about the text book kind of problems!! my frnd (he is older than me) has been working and riding on superbikes from as early as 94 but then it was mostly the Hoda CB750 n ZZR1100 n such bikes but still imagine the level of experince he would have thats 15 years of superbike repair experience!!!!!....i would trust my R1 abytime with him more than an official yamaha service guy even if they offer me free of cost......i just hope my fellow R1 ier has his bike up and running in a couple of days....

i would advice you not to sell your bike, i think you have seen the darkest days, it will only become better from now on, i would suggest you to at least wait to ride it once & then take your decision. i also wanted to know if you had gotten in touch with other official R1 owners, if these bikes are of the same batch they might be also be experiencing the same problem and are not on forum such as these, it can help you to make your case stronger & everyone can know how YAMAHA treats all its premium customers

I will share this with you. This is the Yamaha GTS that was lying for about more than 6 months. The problem was brakes. And this is owned by a brakes manufacturer from Pune! Can you believe it?



Edit: Why don't you shoot a letter to Autocar India? They are good at this.They have brought Audi and Renault to sense! Also contact other magazines. I will try to contact my friends at Bike India. What about Consumer forum?

Like they said in the SKODA thread. Don't take them to court, its no good. Hit their weak areas - The Media. Expose the weak link in Yamaha through media.

Although it may not be relevant, you may also want to take the same route for your Barolo Red Metallic CLS.
