yea Rongom ,the new 14r is stupid fast. Someone i know went to the dealer (USA) to check it out and he was simply blown away by the torque that thing made. They got one on the dyno just to see what is it making at the rear wheel and they got a figure of 191. That is unheard power for a completely stock bike right from the showroom floor. Amazing piece of engineering i would say .If only we had it selling in India !!

Yeah man, was really hoping for it to be available here... officially... I rode it in S'pore & quite liked it. Its become even more rider friendly... but i would also add that all thanks to the electronics, the new 14R feels way too easy & restricted at times... I'm saying this because I tried a few tricks to push it but the electronics got a bit irritating... However, I'm getting mine by October

My Monster 14 shows a figure of 218bhp via the data logger i have, however i havent been able to get her on the dyno (there's only 1 for honda only) to see what she's making on the rear wheel. I suspect it'll be a figure which will put a big smile on my face, considering the upgrades i've made over the years...

Did i hear correct !! You getting the 2012 14r this year . that is fantastic news buddy. And you right , with all the electronic aids its really easy to go fast on the new one. I have a friend here whose got the zzr1400 with the baffles out , a full leo vince system and running a base pcv map. Though not perfectly tuned that thing still goes like stink and after 4500 rpm has a mind of its own. What all do you have apart from these ?

did wana hijack roanq's thread anymore so have PMed u a brief list... yeah the new one should be in my hand by October as you can see the list of mods done are quite a few... wonder why Kawa would restrict it so much & then make it so easy for owners to do those mods...

Why are you guys discussing ZX14R when it doesn't even sell in India? What's the point if ZX is faster than Busa or vice versa?

              1. About handling issues - I am a short stature guy with height 5'8" and weight 70kgs. I’m comfortable at riding gt650r which is lighter in comparison to 260kgs of Hayabusa. Is Hayabusa difficult to ride? To Drag?
              2. About heating issues - I have heard Hayabusa generates more heat than R1. Is that true?
              3. About Fuel - Last but not the least the city - I live in is a small city and we don’t have access to high octane fuel, the best fuel we have here is speed and xtra premium. I have no problem using it in gt650r but Haya and R1 have much higher compression ratio. Will my bike be fine if ill use these fuels?
              1. You should be able to handle Busa fine.. By drag do you mean pushing it? Well, get a 50 kg pillion seated on your GT and try pushing it to know whether you can push 260 kgs. Jokes apart, its usually not a problem for people with average health.

No, Hayabusa is not that difficult to ride generally, but its obviously a sports tourer so its better manageable at higher speeds, than the commuting speeds. Although, its known as a good commuter too, thanks to its torque spread. Shouldn't be a problem at above 30 kmph from what I perceive about it.

              2. This is not exactly computeable unless two guys ride both the machines side by side. And the notices the temperature difference on the console.

              3. It should do fine normally with the common fuel. Yamaha recommends 95 octane for R1, but 91 also does the trick for few R1 owners that I saw.

If I had to choose among the two, maybe R1 would be it, but my needs and area roads are much different from yours.

If you are still doubtful about the Busa, I suggest that you don't go for the controversial R1. Its main strength is that crossplane crankshaft, which is more useful on a racetrack. Otherwise, this kills its engine performance. Those counter-balancers and crankshaft parts enlargement (don't know what they call it exactly) has taken its toll on performance. Although yes, R1 feels good on corner exits, and sounds even better.

But, get a Honda CBR 1000RR or Suzuki GSXR1000, and you should do better.

I dont know much about superbikes and how they handle and whats the seat height & blah blah, in front of my 150cc bike it seems 1000cc and 1300cc are both heaven and thus directly comparable.

But THIS I know: Loved your choti si love story and if it is anything to go by, no matter which bike you get, it will be loved and that somehow ends the matter for me!

and the question remains why do i race?

@ Samarth619 - The thread stater is looking to buy a superbike. The options he has given and the ones suggested by fellow riders all form part of the discussion. Just like your recommendation of a Honda 1000rr or a gisxerr 1000 does not border on being absurd considering the thread starter is confused between the busa and the r1 , we talking about the busa and the 14r fits the bill just right.
So in short " Whats your point here ?

If you don't mind sharing, what's the OTR of a 14R in India, I mean we all know the cost of a Busa or R1 since they are available through the official company dealers........ And do you really think the 14R could make it to India soon??

Hello...I thought the guy had made up his mind on the 2 bikes in question Busa or R1.... and the answer is simple
If he wants comfort the Busa wins....If he needs a precision tool the R1 is the way to go. I believe the Busa is lower than the R1 in terms of rider height but once you are used to it 5'8" should be enough for both but still the Busa would be more comfortable....all SBK's will heat up in traffic but if you keep moving its manageable.
Most of us mortals can never fully use the power available to us but should make a choice based on usage .... I like my rides to look good and stir my soul and be able to fly when I need to....figures are just something we can rarely use. Just my humble opinion.
It would be best to test ride both the bikes as it will surely give you a better idea. Best of luck on your choice and may you enjoy the rides.

Thanks a lot to all the members of the forum for their valuable suggestions and advices.sorry couldnt reply earlier due to some personal emergency.
As rightly pointed out by the members of this forum that both the bikes are equally good and it is matter of personal choice to pick one. Hence I'm thinking to go to Delhi on saturday to see the bikes in flesh before deciding. Any idea if the bikes would be on display in the showrooms? Last year Yamaha did not have r1 on display and a used haybusa was available at bittoo suzuki. In case the bikes are not available in showroom would a member of this forum be kind enough to let me have a look at his bike. I do not want to ride, just want to sit on it and have the feel of the bike. Please let me know I'll be really grateful.thanks.
