Totally OT + hijacked the thread

please note below is from the old proforma invoice that i had collected when i was still hunting for a SBK

2008 R1 - 10.5 Lac Ex showroom bangalore Jan - June - 12.75 Lac
2008 R1 - 11.75 lac Ex showroom Bangalore July - Dec - OTR 14.6 Lac

2009 Hayabusa 1H- 12.35 Ex showroom - OTR 14.5
2009 Hayabusa 2H - 12.75 Ex showroom - OTR 14.75 - 15 lac based on insurance Co you choose

Busa prices moved from 14.5lac to 15.93 range between 2009 and 2011 recent rupee deval raised it to 17lac in 2012.
ABS model was release at 1 lac more the OTR price is about 18.93lac in bangalore (can buy a flat in outskirts of Bangalore - my Mom expression)

2010 GSX - 14.16 lac Ex showroom didnt really follow it much as i am a busa convert ever since the gen 2 was launched in 2008.

Fellow bikers, need your input..
I have a pal heading to Boston this Friday and return within 10 days. Based on my weight and height (103 kgs and 6'3 feet'inches), the Euro size is 62. But do not wanna end up either in a loose or tight fit, should I take my chances?? I believe not to... but rather get some brake pad sets F+R of Kevlar, EBC or Goldfren (Want Gafler but too pricey for start!) and frame sliders.

Further I myself may travel to US anytime post April 14, which one do you guys recommend out of Technik, AGV, AXO or Sidi Race Suit. Meanwhile for these 3 months can I acquire this as the store is in Bangalore itself:
Race Wear, Race Suit - N Series - Race Grade Genuine Leather

Definitely don't take the risk of a loose jacket, at higher speeds, the fit does matter.

If you plan to do a lot of track days, it is worth getting a single piece. Otherwise, for practical purposes, I would go with a good 2 piece leather. As long as they are the same brand, they usually zip up to be more like a 1 piece.

I love Teknic gear (I have the Teknic Chicane Leather Jacket and Pants), but Teknic is out of business and so getting hold of one is going to be a challenge.

I started at 22 mate and still needed a personal loan to fund a second hand busa. Nearly 11 years to get a sbk dream come true. Am enjoying every bit of owning the bike.

Buy it if you can maintain it.

Second hand liter class bikes (well maintained) start right from 7L onwards. 10 days back, a Suzuki Bandit - 2010 model was sold for 7.5L overall (formalities included).
A CBR 1000RR would cost 10L, same lines for R1 and GSX and the likes. A Busa would fall in the +2/3L range.

(I'm talking about legal, well maintained/worshipped bikes). Not through a dealer. Also, these are BLR prices for bikes not more than 2-3 years old.

P.P.S - Since you say you're from a middle class family. I'm too and have been saving for that one bike for 2 years now. I don't want the 650's as a hint. As per my data gathered, there are NO free services on SBKs. Each service is 12-15k + at the minimum. This is because service intervals are high. (10k kms)

Tires (both included) cost 25+k, sprockets about 20+k, fairing/vehicle protection kits cost 8+k etc. So, as per me, I must earn enough to sustain my family along with my passion. Say you take a loan to buy one costing 8-9 odd lakhs, will you be able to ride and maintain it? If the answer is yes, comfortably; then please go ahead, else take your time.

Sorry for being so frank!
@Divya Sharan Its ok and in fact I love your frankness :thumbup:, btw I can maintain a bike and maintenance is not a problem the only thing that bothers me is bank loan. I am 24 years old and I have lost 7 years of my life plus I have got only one life so want to enjoy it. And I am not going to get married for another 30 years so don't have to worry for anything life is full of bright colours and it inspires me to enjoy them to the fullest

kingzeeshan - just one request from me is to put in at least 20-25k km on a smaller bike prior to taking a 650+cc multi cylinder bike. You need this to understand the basics of riding and unforseen situation that life generally throws at you.

Bigger bikes are ridicoulusly fast and viloent / brutal accelerations. When i first got the busa i used it for 4k km in the city in c mode, the a mode would just make me pee in my pants use to hit 100 in a blonk of an eye.

harish.krovvidi Bro I have already ridden a Bajaj Spirit gearless scooter and I have a fair idea how a bike will ride and handle. Don't worry I am not going to push the bike to its limits at all. And I have come to respect the guidelines that are set by xBhp .

PS: Harsh I need an ownership report of your bike its important for me I hope you can help me yaar please man I need your guidence.

@TS : Congrats on the SBK, the looks are awesome. I have a question for all the sbk owners here.. Inside India how much we will be able to enjoy the power of these machines? I don't know how long will one be able to stay at 150+ speeds in any roads. I have never seen a freeway with out a random pedestrian or cattle crossing lethargically. Investing something like 10-20L and not able to be enjoying it fully is pain in the a##.
Its crime to ride a car alone, so I ride bike :).

0 to 100 in 9.63 secs - Machine Name : Usain Bolt :)

You don't need to spend 10L for this realization bro. A humble Karizma/P180/Apache will make you realize that you can't do even 100 kmph for long.

But there has to be a compromise, right. Nothing beats SBKs and super cars at acceleration. We get that high for a few seconds. People like Harish tour on the SBKs. He doesn't even have another bike! Its all about passion and patience.
Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.
