I have got the delivery of my HD Street 750 on 11th of July in Chennai. Have clocked close to 700 kms till now. Will keep on updating this thread with my ownership experience of the bike. To start with here are some pictures from the day of the delivery.

On a side note.. Have been following XBHP since the year it came into existence. I don't know why I've been so late in putting up my first post. Hope, I will be able to contribute in some way.

Please feel free to ask any query you have. It will be a pleasure to answer.

    Ride safe! Cheers!

Congratulations!! This was very much awaited!

                Now for the questions :

                1. Heard that the bike is plagued with quality and fit-n-finish issues(especially the exposed wiring). So much that people have gone and cancelled their bookings. How much is this true from your personal experience?

                2. Is the braking bad? like really bad?

                3. How is the exhaust note? Is a screaming eagle required?

                4. Being a Harley, how is the road presence?

Heard that the acceleration and handling are top notch. Would love to ride it!

                    HUGE CONGRATS Wayfarer7

I have recently ridden the Street 750 for good 40 kms which involved good traffic and open roads.
                    1. I was quite ok with the fit and finish
                    2. I did touch 110 at one point. The brake seemed pretty good to me.
                    3. Exhaust note is quite mild. I loved it. If one revvs it, it does produce a good sound but while idling it provides a mild but distinct multi-cylinder engine sound. Never heard a HD on Screaming Eagle exhaust so can't comment. Yes, it's milder than some "modded" Bullt
                    4. I was stared at/discussed quite often while waiting at stop lights and while riding slowly through traffic.
                    5. Acceleration and handling is indeed very good. Though I did scrapped the footpegs few time but it was fantastic zig-zagging through New Delhi traffic!!

Thanks man. Yes, it has the GO I don't think I am supposed to quote the speeds achieved, but i hope you get the drift The "GO" is definitely much better than what people are claiming on some other forums.

The Dynamics is what made me get this bike. I absolutely love the way it handles both the straights and the twisties.
The seat is a bit too soft, as in, it's good for small stints but I needed a break after every 70-80 kms as I started digging in the cushion.
Braking isn't razor sharp. To me the feel is more of a drum brake. You got to squeeze the lever to generate the required braking effect. But it's definitely not bad. The bike stops without any unwanted drama. The other thing is that when you are going at 80-90 km/hr you feel like 40-50 km/hr. So, it's more about getting used to the perception of speed and applying the brakes accordingly. I am still in the process of getting used to it.
Nothing great to write about features. I was just sold on the engine and dynamics of this bike.
For 70% highway and 30% traffic it gave 21.85 kmpl by tankful method. The traffic part was bumper to bumper.

The quality part depends on the benchmark we are taking. For me there is nothing wrong in the quality. I got what I paid for. Some parts don't look/feel like they do on the Superlow or Bonnie, but they function the way they are supposed to.
                      2. Is the braking bad? like really bad?
The braking isn't sharp if that's what people call BAD now a days. You have/need to give yourself some time and get adjusted to it.
                      3. How is the exhaust note? Is a screaming eagle required?
The exhaust note is not like the Harley we have been hearing. But to me it sounds pretty fine. Infact, I am not a big fan of the SE.
                      4. Being a Harley, how is the road presence?
The road presence is subtle yet attractive. It does not have the "bling" of the bigger boys but it does stand it's own ground.
Heard that the acceleration and handling are top notch. Would love to ride it!
Yes, the acceleration and handling did blew me away.

I can feel you regarding the brakes but it will take time to bed in properly.. After about 1000 to 1500 Kms the bike should perform at the peak of its abilities..

                            Thanks Man.

I would like to mention how I ended up in buying the Street 750. Here it goes: -

I have been riding bikes since some 15 years now. The bikes I owned include the Discover 125, Pulsar 150, Pulsar 180 and a RE Bullet Deluxe 350(1983). Out of these the first bike I got from own money is the 180 which is with me for the past 5 years. I was and am happy with what it offered for what I paid for it.
Lately, I got opportunities to ride some big bikes as well. This included the Ninja 650, Suzuki GSR, Triumph Bonnie, Kawasaki W800, Harley Superlow, Honda Shadow and also the BMW F800GS. And I loved all of them. For me, every bike is designed for some particular purpose and to cater to some specific requirements. And I end up in liking some or the other thing every bike has to offer. But, after getting a feel of all these beautiful machines, an itch started to own something more powerful.

The problem was the investment would be a big one considering my bank balance and I had to justify that.
The bike had to fulfill the following criteria: -

                            1. I should be able to retain it for a long time - touch a few heart strings.
                            2. I should be able to ride it more often - talk about practicality.
                            3. It should come in a budget which won't require me selling my body organs.

None of the bikes till recently fulfilled my requirements. The Ninja 650 came pretty close but I have a block with faired bikes. I just don't feel comfortable with these type. The Bonnie is also a nice bike, but, it just didn't touch the right chords for me. I hope you guys will agree, some bikes are just made for you, and you know that as soon as you sit on one.

So, some one and a half month back I got an opportunity to ride the Street 750. I sat on it and it felt nice. The sound felt strong but subtle (by Harley standards). As soon as I moved I was totally overwhelmed by what a gem the engine is. It accelerated wonderfully, and even while pushing showed no stress at all. Next was the handling, and boy, does it love corners! I mean if the foot-pegs wouldn't have interfered I might have done some knee scraping there. It felt powerful and stable. And it looked cool too.

After the ride, or may be during it, I had the plans and calculations started in my mind. I knew I was overwhelmed, So just to check, I took couple of more rides to confirm the above points. I was sure, except for the financial part.

I visited the showroom and was pleasantly surprised by the HDFC collaborated deal on loans. I booked the bike on the same day.

The booking was done on 31st May and the bike was delivered on 11th July.

Just to add - I was not a Harley fan and the reasons for which I got the bike were totally individual. Yes, being a HOG member now, I feel it's a bonus and I am enjoying it.

Will Keep updating the thread with the other experiences.
