    Accessory Update:

Tank Pad : The green one has been changed. Rs 7/- has served me a couple of weeks and now lay in its deathbed, the dustbin. The adhesive was pathetic and it decided to leave.
Replaced with a Keiti from Orion Motors. Put the 2 bits, that are meant to be beside the main part, near the bottom part to reduce contact with me. Great quality 3M adhesive on a very good looking tank pad. Replacement was never an issue for the adhesive. The main part was adjusted, at least I tried my best, to put at a position where it reduces contact with jacket if I was crouching a little and the bottom end to be in a position where the angles from the black cowls would end if they were extended. Again, ignore the pink hue.

    Riding Experience Update:

Well, I have started to commute to my office regularly on Roadbuster now. Things are getting easier and more fun. The seats are rather comfy for short city rides. Width allows movement. Stepped rear allows a little support to lumbar area which feels great every now and then. The posture is comfortable and makes quick movements very easy. I am still holding the left handle grip a bit too much towards the left and keep searching for the horn switch every now and then. Realised I am seated pretty high up and that is a good advantage. Before, on my R15, if I was trailing a car, I would have no idea what was going on ahead of the car but this seat allows me to look over the car. Also helps in looking further ahead and decide whether to take the side lane or not if there is too much traffic

      Hi Sourjya,

I was reading your post at Team…. And didn’t noticed you write-up the here as well. But as I didn’t not have an active account there, couldn’t reply. 1stly congrats for the great machine and for the awesome write-up!

I’m too a SBK lover and started looking for a liter class bike and at the end I found Kawasaki Z800 is reasonable and within my budget. Actually I wanted a 1000cc sports bike, not a naked, it was my 1st choice. But they are unreasonably costly. My reason for choosing Z800 is, its close to 1000cc. Then its price compared to other bike in this segment and respect to CC is best, I mean triumph etc. My best choice was Z1000, I’m not amazed by Z800 design but Z1000 on road price is almost same as other 1000cc bikes. I've a lots of questions and I will try to make in short.

      So I wanted to know:
      # Do you have any idea about Kawasaki showroom in Kolkata, I know you’re not from Kolkata but still if you know or if any other one knows. I found two Kawasaki showroom in Kolkata (VIP road and Chowringhee), can anyone know which one is the main dealer? Or which one have good feedback?

      # I will drive it rarely, maybe a few km in a month. So when buying it can I take 3rd party insurance, I will buy it at full cash down no loan. Because for someone like me Insurance is always waste of money. Couldn’t take its advantage since many years for cars and bikes as I drive safely.

      # Can anyone provide the actual onroad price in Kolkata, with breakup will help. As from many users I saw, they are saying different rates. I know its varies states to state.

      # Also Z800 weight is 230kg and I’m slim and 5feet 8inch height, would it create any issue to handle this bike?

      # Kawasaki recommends 95octane unleaded fuel for Z800, what is the octane rate of the regular unleaded fuel which sold everywhere. If I couldn’t find 95 octane fuel in my city and use regular unleaded fuel, will it create any issues?

      # In India does Z800 have any variants in models.

      # is there have any option in the console to disable the ABS temporarily?

      # I know it doesn’t comes with Reverse gear, but somewhere I saw its included, so just to confirm?

Also I saw your accessories list and I want the exact same stuffs, as I was looking for the same engine guard and the same type frame sliders, I’ve seen few online but the frame sliders are not long enough (Horizontally) like the one you have, so less protection if falls. Did you get those all over online order? As I don’t have any time to look into market, only I can do it online and I know Showroom will charge way too high for those. Can you please PM with their price details and with links from where you brought it? the same list you’ve provided in Team… That will be very helpful. Thanks

Thanks ! Much Appreciated. It is great fun indeed.

CC to Price is not a good measure of VFM. The Striple has amazing cycle parts and hence the price. 1000cc means nothing. First, make sure what you want. Try the bikes and then decide if you are not sure. I was certain on a naked because of driveability. I believe you should put in much more effort to know what you want and what suits you.

Though I hail from Kolkata originally, I am not sure about kawasaki. All I know is that the dealerships are not very old. Well, there is a youtube channel to some 'majumdar' guy. He keeps all info near Kolkata. Maybe you can ask him. I don't think there will be any difference if there are 2 dealers. Buy from the one nearer to your home.

        # I will drive it rarely, maybe a few km in a month. So when buying it can I take 3rd party insurance, I will buy it at full cash down no loan. Because for someone like me Insurance is always waste of money. Couldn’t take its advantage since many years for cars and bikes as I drive safely.

As a recreational motorcycle or as a daily machine, I don't know if you are rich enough to get a 3rd party insurance. A fall causing damage to the protruding engine will set you back by lacs. I would suggest, get the best bumper to bumper insurance you can get. Don't think of saving thousands and suffer with lacs later. Consult the SS as which insurance company provide hassle free service.

        # Can anyone provide the actual on-road price in Kolkata, with breakup will help. As from many users I saw, they are saying different rates. I know its varies states to state.

Taxes will vary the ex showroom as well the OTR. Call/Email the dealers and ask for it.

        # Also Z800 weight is 230kg and I’m slim and 5feet 8inch height, would it create any issue to handle this bike?

I cannot say since I don't know how much riding experience and on what you have. On the move it should not be difficult if your basics are right and you are riding for sometime following the basics. Moving around in parking, yes definitely unless you are super strong and long legged.

        # Kawasaki recommends 95octane unleaded fuel for Z800, what is the octane rate of the regular unleaded fuel which sold everywhere. If I couldn’t find 95 octane fuel in my city and use regular unleaded fuel, will it create any issues?

A very common doubt. BSIV pumps serve 91RON and BSIII serves 89RON (I think??) . So you would need a reputed pump at all times. Most of the pumps have big adulteration levels which would affect adversely. I have been using SHELL 91RON and haven't faced any knocking. I am about to try 97RON soon. Why don't you consider the Striple if pumps are an issue near you ?

        # In India does Z800 have any variants in models.

Nope. Just the top end ABS variant available in black and green colors.

        # is there have any option in the console to disable the ABS temporarily?

Nope. Striple has the option. Why would you want it ??? IMO, only track bikes should get it.

        # I know it doesn’t comes with Reverse gear, but somewhere I saw its included, so just to confirm?

what !!!! Reverse gear !! Do some reading man ! I am starting to think now that I shouldn't have replied at all. Do your homework first.

Also I saw your accessories list and I want the exact same stuffs, as I was looking for the same engine guard and the same type frame sliders, I’ve seen few online but the frame sliders are not long enough (Horizontally) like the one you have, so less protection if falls. Hmmm. I have spent hours and hours finding each and everything you see there. Counting every penny and searching everywhere possible. I don't believe you have checked properly if you say you have not found 'loong' frame sliders. You need to search more. I never went to a shop for any accessory, except the tank pads but all are bought from shops. As u mentioned you have read the other thread, I believe you know the sources as well. Check with them. I will pm you the prices I got them at.

And again, rethink and reconsider and make an informed and appropriate decision suitable for you and your situation.

Thanks for your feedback. CC to Price measure means I checked with Triumph and the Daytona as a 675cc it will be around 11L onronad, like that.

I know big bikes like Honda Goldwing and many more have reverse gear, but while doing my homework somewhere in specification of Z800 I saw it was marked was “Yes” for Reverse gear. I couldnt find that link otherwise I would show you. That is why I asked if there have more variants like Daytona.[/QUOTE]

Yes I know its hard work to find those specific things you loves, and I really appreciate you sent all the details over PM, this is why people ask helps to others, but these are easy to get as well with a quick search, like

There have many good branded product over the market, 'loong' frame sliders means if you see the bellow ebay product this length is not that long for those. That is what I meant. The longer provide more protection.

The daytona produces more horses than the 899cc benelli TNT does which costs around 9.5 ex showroom. More cc, lesser price, lesser cost for the Benelli.

R&G racing are the only company whose protectors allow discount in insurance in the western countries. And the sliders from them are not as long.
Longer one might as well get stuck to lose ground and topple the bike. shorter one will slide better even though it might transfer a bit more to the bike. Aim is to save the frame and the engine and not the plastics.

            Please choose wisely.
Please get yours soon and all that you need with it. Enjoy the journey and the ride !

Haha.. Thanks for making me feel like Bangalore evening load shadings

I ride her from N S Paliya, Lake road, silk board (your's truly ) , ring road, bellandur main road, Yamlur road to my office. Believe most of it has one of the highest traffic concentrations in the city and add to that this lovely heat. My arms probably get more heated up by the sun than my legs by her. Since the day I got her, it has been this deadly hot Bangalore. Trying to test my to-commute resolve I suppose.
Well, Yes the silk board traffic is infamous but nothing you cannot bust I am at ease as much as I am on my R15. Guess, the note helps in clearing traffic around.

BTW, filled her up with SHELL SUPER this time. 181 kms for 10.5 litres of SHELL normal, 17.2 kmpl (Decent IMO). All city riding. Most highway I did was 1 NICE road from Banerghata to ecity in heavy traffic and one elevated way two way trip in normal traffic.

Yup. More than 17 in city including 2 days of deadlock traffic.
Not sure about how much would it give but surely it won't moan you to happiness at the slightest command of your hand. 😀
Yemalur is next to marathalli towards the left.
Just took a ride of the R15 after almost a week to the cinema and back and boy was I disappointed as I missed 😁 The quality. The power. The music. The brakes. The lights. The horn. The size 😝

Heavy arms depends on posture. If you put too much weight on the wrist, like I did for the first couple of days, right wrist went a bit numb after handling too much traffic. I have changed posture so that my hands are slightly bent at the elbow.

+175kms to 655kms on the ODO is here. A trip to Nandi with another 6 bikes. Great fun as I held them back with my break in speeds, save a couple of 6K bursts
Forgot my bag at the food place which added around 20kms :P
Great fun returning as 3 of us were lead along another way that took us back to Bangalore via KOLAR highway.

Awesome fun in the hairpins and curves at Nandi. Did the entire stretch in 5th and 6th gear (Boy ! Oh! Boy ! The Torque !! ) with a few with lower gears corners, thanks to cars with big egos. Missed couple of curves, on the road between Bellary road and Kolar highway, and went, just, into the opposite side. Controlled mistake. Did not expect the curve to be that long.

Avg mileage showed 21.5 kmpl at the end of the trip.

                            Photos:

500 KMS Didn't want to stop for the photo only but as destiny would have it, I reached the meeting point, opposite esteem mall, at, precisely 500 KM

And there was a Benelli TNT 600. Sounded great. Looked well built as well. Yet to be registered.

150 KMs to 6K RPM limit
