Well, here is the list about Depreciation Method:-->Originally posted by kar1zma View Postu see
say the bike u bought was for 10$ it wouldnt matter cause when u come to india they have a book with all the prices of the bike when bought new for any year they would have prices for a 1999 cbr or 1998 ninja etc etc upto till 2009 models
so then they calculate depreciation from that year till now i dont remember the formula
so u will end up paying quite a lot

I think Rachit Kohli has a point. I mean, R6 for 550 USD or some 25,000 INR??
Damn, even My P180 came for some 1500 USD...
Even after 90-100% tax, should it cost so much? I think in around 4.5 Lacs INR, the bike can be transferred & owned, right here in India...---

^^ yes samarth... thats what just fascinated me too much..! just look at the difference here & there.. its a wide angle. Also it makes me think, if this is possible why i have not come across people who have bought sbks this way rather then getting it for lakhs of ruppees

Biggest thing is that this way it's legal - it would be via Transfer of Residence.Originally posted by rachitkohli View Post^^ yes samarth... thats what just fascinated me too much..! just look at the difference here & there.. its a wide angle. Bad part is that taxes are more, upto 150% too, since the vehicle is registered abroad.
Personally, I have seen some guys with Transfer of Residence Bikes in India. But, do they have to own it for 2 years in other country or not, I don't know exactly.
Look at that R1's condition man! Just 4700 miles, and he wants only 2300 USD... Wish I was in US, or Customs would have been linient!---

PLEASE GUYS DONT GET SUCKED INTO SCAMS
IF SOMETHING IS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE THAN IT PROPABLY IS.
NEVER BUY A USED BIKE UNLESS U CHECK IT OUT URSLEF OR SOMEONE TRUSTWORTHY DOES IT.
buying a sbk is not an easy task. u need to know about these beasts just price isnt alone the deciding factor.
plus if ur gonna pay 4 lakhs alone in customs tax then y not spend a anpother lakh and get urself a nice cbr600 or r6 in india itslef will save u a lot of headaches

yesterday&today I see a thread on it. Now can someone please comment on this? I have written to the owner who says he has now shifted to London&the bike is in the custody of a shipping company who can ship it free of charge!
Now, whenever something sounds too good to be true (2800 USD), it mostly is!
Here is the link to another such bike priced too low: 06 Honda CBR 1000 RR Fireblade for Sale at Bikez Free Motorcycle Classifieds
Dude,
I guarantee you this is a scam. Please please please dont go ahead with anything. Ask seller following questions,
1. Send me the toll free number and physical address of this shipping company.
- I guarantee you he will not return your email.
2. Ask him how he wants to be paid.
- I guarantee you he will ask for western union or wire transfer.
3. Ask him why is he selling this bike for a too good to be true price.
- I guarantee you he will say, that hes moved to London for work and he needs cash right away for some needs there, so selling his bike. If a guy is shifted to London by his company, he is well paid, he doesn't need cash by selling his bike.
Many bizarre stories they will cook up to lure you to send money through western union, once you send the money you will never hear from him again.
There is no shipping company in the world who does this kind of middleman business.
PLEASE DO NOT PAY THIS A!@#$$%%% ANY MONEY, THIS IS A SCAM, MANY WEBSITES IN THE USA ARE NOW COMING FORWARD AND PROACTIVELY ADVOCATING THAT THESE KIND OF EMAILS AS SCAMS AND PUT UP WARNINGS.

Thanks for the inputs guys. I know that there are many online scams like this. I have also seen some people being fooled with lotteries etc. However, bikez.biz is a genuine site. Anyways, my analysis is:Originally posted by kar1zma View Postexcatly dont be fooled ull see a lot of these on a lot of boards and websites
Apart from the scam guys, sometimes there are genuine sellers who sell off at rock bottom prices, for various reasons (immediate need for money, lack of knowledge of market rates etc.), but even if we do buy a 2nd hand bike which originally costed say 12000$, we would have to pay up the duty based on the original price, with a depreciation of 3-4% every quarter, based on the rules in the link posted previously by Samarth. So, even if someone buys a bike for say 3000$, duty would be more than 6000$, which ultimately does make it outrightly expensive. So, IMO buy a bike where you stay-importing does not make sense!Quench my thirst with gasoline!

this things are really skeptical, a normal guy without any suggestions can easily get dragged into this scams.. I got a reply from a guy whos selling his R1 for 2300$ (including shipping), from his mail hes so much supportive, as if am his very close cousin.. :P .. chek the mail.....
"Hello,
The bike is near new, has only 8827 miles ... nothing wrong, not wrecked, never layed down, never dropped, adult ridden, not out on rain ... clean title, first owner and all papers come along with the bike ... The price is $2300 shipping included, to your address because the bike is located in Jupiter, FL ... I am in Leeds, UK with some bussiness for the moment, but this is not a problem because my wife can handle the shipping ... We can use a shipping company to protect your money and my bike, it's up to you if you want ... I will handle the shipping, so this will be free of charge for you. Also, a refund policy will be included ... Looking forward to hearing from you.
I have attached more pictures for you.
Waiting ..."
