I totally agree. As for the line in bold, I hear an MT-01 almost every sunday at work. Im based at a hotel facing marine drive and the sound of that burbling Vee twin is really intoxicating. Makes me wanna go out and buy it. Just like one of the reasons why you bought your baby.Originally posted by gsferrari View PostFrom an Indian perspective it is absolutely fantastic. Air-cooled...no issues in traffic and an absolute dear in city traffic where you don't have to worry about fairings. Plus it doesn't intimidate me...a Busa with a sliding rear-end is a brown-underpants moment...MT01 is so manageable.
Yup...which is why in India we are lucky to get it for the same price as the R1!!
I was grinning like a bugger when the pricing came out...it has an exclusivity that cannot be matched by anything this end of a Ducati.
Done
I wish I had the money though. Would absolutely love to hear these monsters with the new pipes!

True dat...they can try...but I'll blow them away with the dual cannonsOriginally posted by winzeee View PostNO one will ever think of tailing you

That is just one end can - this bike uses two. The performance increase is noticeable but not a giant-leap ahead. The bike revs VERY freely now and I am sure that with a Akrapovic header, Y-pipe and ditching of the Exup, it will rev even quicker. I'd have to stage-II the bike in that case...maybe later.Originally posted by inder.cool View PostOhh man..its huge..

It revs faster, accelerates harder and reaches it's top speed with ease. 89 to 205 kph in 5th gear is very quick compared to the stock bike. Yes...this bike goes from 89 all the way to 210 in a single gear
Not getting into details but the Akras are in excess of 1000 GBP shipped to India. Shipping is a BOMB if you're getting stuff from the UK.Originally posted by Raoul Black View PostCongrats GS, would really love to hear both the beast side by side.
How much did the Akrapovics put u back?
Coming up - been rather busy ridingOriginally posted by Carlitos View PostKudos on the Akrapovic pipes. Quality first.

Update...
Left Mumbai on 24th morning for the 1000km ride to Bangalore. Achieved this distance within 13 hours with a 1 hour con-call midway near Davangere.
From Bangalore I rode 550 kms to Kodaikanal and back to BLR.
Finally this morning I rode 360 Kms from Bangalore to Chennai.
2500 or so Kms done in 5 days and Thor has hit the 13600 mark on the Odometer. It is just a matter of time before the 15000 KM service will have to be done and I need to get the Yamaha service center primed to carry this out.
Tires look good and will probably be usable well past 15000 Kms. I will take a look at the condition at 15000 and decide if I should replace the rear.
No problems whatsoever with the bike...after fitting the Akrapovic exhaust system it really has turned into my dream machine. Loving every Km I spend with it...

I think it is unpardonable that my thread be relegated to the backwaters of superbike tomfoolery on this new and revamped Xbhp forum. I think an update is necessary at this time and I am glad to let the Xbhp populace know that I have just covered 22000 Km on the MT01 named Thor.
Thor has been an outstanding companion through all those miles and ever since he was equipped with the Akrapovic exhausts, I've sported a smile as wide as my ears will allow. I am a sucker for a good exhaust note and I think Thor's is one of the best I have ever heard and usually I am sitting on the side of the road going "Oh that sounds good!" and "Wow what a noise that bike makes"!!
This time the noisemaker is right between my legs (no pun intended...or maybe
)
Buying an MT01 was the best decision I've ever made and thanks to Rossiter who saved me from getting lost in the cloud of Busas and R1s and Blades. The MT retains it's exclusivity and wife-beater looks to this day.
Long live Thor!
The MT has the most comfortable saddle I have ever used. Saddle soreness will still crop in at about 500 Km but I've got techniques to counter this problem. Liberal application of nivea creme on the backside, crotch and thighs keeps saddle-soreness at bay. Trust me...this works.Originally posted by tanay View PostSmall Q... don't you feel saddle-sore after so many KM's in so few days?
Is the MT seat very comfortable?
Also what average speeds do you maintain on the highways?
My highway cruising speed is 130 - 140. Occasionally when I feel like a hooligan I hit the 2 ton mark but it is very briefly and only when I have an absolutely clear view of the road and road-side. The only place I have hit 200+ is on the Kolhapur - Hubli highway. Anywhere else and my top-speed is limited to 150 - 180.Kriss : 15.06.1981 - 11.10.2009

I have seen a grey MT-01 at a Cafe Coffee Day on the Bangalore - Mysore highway once. The guy was with a girl on the pillion and had come along with a Suzuki B-King (
), an R1, a few gixxers and CBRs... Damn, its a BIG BIG bike! Congrats on your purchase! Happy Riding!

Some pics from my recent Mumbai - Hampi ride

Older pics from my Bangalore - Maddur ride:

Riding from Mumbai - Bangalore. Caught up with Rossiter @ Hubli and we "time-shared" Thor all the way back to Bangalore.

A ride to Kamshet on some ruddy awful roads!

Stopped at Lonavala en-route to Pune from Mumbai. Caught up with a few SBK riders and my Enfield buddies

Stopped at a Yamaha dealership in Batalakundu off Dindigul road from Bangalore to Kodaikanal

Rossiter's bike was leaking coolant so we stopped to top it up

Finally at Kodaikanal

This was during a ride to Lavassa with Swapnil Jadhav

Still have the stock exhausts on this ride
