Oh, it is a basic RS Taichi Rain suit (separate jacket and pants) which can be worn over my regular clothes. And the boot cover is made by KISS racing (local Japanese). Give me some time, and I will update this post with pictures.Originally posted by ashtorque View Post@Bluevolt, which brand? Post some pix
I think this setup should last me this year when riding my Ninja 250 in the rains!

I completely disagree with above. The other day, it must have been mostly dry with some water on the road. That is a recipe for disaster. But during monsoon when every road is completely wet, your sbk tyre will stick as good as in summer (except when there is standing water on the road)Originally posted by TenHut View PostRiding SBKs in rain isnt frustrating...its scary.
Its just downright risky sometimes.
Just the other day there was some water the road and I had the biggest wheel spin of my life..
Ofcourse if one is careful with the throttle and in the right gear it can be avoided as no one is running on slicks here. We do have grooves but hell when your wheel spins like theres no tomorrow you do tend to think twice about riding a 1000 in the rains.
Now add a small dash of oil spills, slippery/muddy surfaces, concrete roads wet sand (either of them or ALL of them together) to it and you have a perfect recipe for disaster !
Ninja touring in the rains all the way !!!! YooohoooNever argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and then beat you with experience.

I dont want to sound like a chicken here, but whats your opinion on other issues like:- muddy sidelines
- pot holes
- hard sticky mud in the radiator
. Acid washing the radiator isnt fun
Dok, with such ongoing discussions I am tempted to buy something like a RE or anyother small capacity bike just to experience riding in rain. And hey, you come back soon man. ash --i don't know about sbks but touring in the rains I have done plenty on the puny bikes.
seriously there's no other fun equivalent to that.
it's a given that you cannot rip the bikes & have to take it gently but that only enhances the spirit of touring as you get to experience things at liesure.
the r15 too has a radiator & there hasn't been any problem related to mud which cannot be washed away by a simple wash.
also as vishwas mentioned when it rains completely than all the grime/dust/paste on the roads get washed away & the grip that you get is same.
again this is left to the individual's taste & may not appeal to someone whose idea of fun is to constantly test the top speeds of the bike.
but be sure to try mahabaleshwar once during rains on your banshee & give a feedback

boy, you seriously are missing something, don't be a cat, enjoy the fun, you can be aggressive with the throttle input on Indian motorcycles though not with brakes, get a proper rain gear, a water proof pouch to carry phones/wallet and a good helmet and don't crib when the water droplets start entering your under-wearOriginally posted by ashtorque View PostGuys
Is riding in rains real fun or is it just macho-boast?
It makes me think whether I should experience it
and the guys who have taken a plunge have never looked back,
my one of the best rides was in '04 on a P-180 with Pirellis

you disagree with what ? that its downright risky sometimes ?Originally posted by trustvishwas View PostI completely disagree with above.
Thats like disagreeing with the fact that riding a motorcycle is inherently risky.
You say Ninja 250R is more than necessary for indian roads ( even in dry conditions) and then you disagree with the fact that riding a superbike in wet conditions is risky ? Your disagreement may be stemming out of your inexperiences with wheelspins and wheel locks. Sorry, I know thats blunt.
I swear to god I am gonna ride the Ninja in the rains but riding a 1000 cc especially with our traffic sense where you do need urgent braking manevours on our pothole and mud filled streets 24/7 is throwing caution out the window.
One becomes very vulnerable when visibility is lessened. You not only need a heightened awareness of the bike but of altered traffic
situations also. Your control actions and the thoughts behind them also undergo a transformation due to the traction equation. Smooth inputs are the name of the game in everything you do, from the throttle to the brakes to your steering, your body positioning-all your control actions are geared toward maintaining that tenuous footprint on the pavement that is about the size of a half slice of bread.
Your safety margin is obviously trimmed because of the traction deficit, so you widen that margin by looking farther ahead and using more of your peripheral vision to scan for danger signs. Riding a superbike on our streets is a moronical idea as it is. Now riding it in wet conditions is no joke..and has nothing to do with testing top speeds as someone else here said. No...

Having learnt my SBK riiding in Scotland where it rains every day, if wet riding was dangerous then nobody would ride in Europe. I have ridden extensively in Monsoon and friends who ride my bikes were very apprehensive initially in wet riding. None of the bikes being dropped have happened in the wet. They are all now hooked in dry or wet riding. You need to change your riding style, but it is not dangerous. The more you ride the more comfortable it becomes. I look forward to the rains.

riding in decreased traction conditions can teach you a lot about traction and sharpen your skillz. That same reason also may add to that extra amount of adrenaline fun and stuff..
Its the pathetic unknowns on indian roads that will keep me off the roads on an SBK in rains.
Also scotland conditions != Europe conditions. My first interaction with an SBK was in Germany. I have been brought up there and I can assure you every single soul avoids riding if it rains there ( it never rains there like it does in scotland though, so germans can just await a dry day..which the Scotts perhaps cannot
)
I am crying out loud right now that I wont ride the Blade in rains but I doubt if i can stay away from her for an entirety of 3 months. I very well know I am gonna end up eating my own words !sigpic

Worse part of riding in rains is mud.. on radiator and on nooks and corners where you can only see it, and you cant even get your finger inside or anything else to clean it.. imagine how sad that is .... ive banned myself from taking bike out on wet roads.... even if i encounter any wet patch, i reduce my speed to around 10 kmph to avoid it being sprayed all under the bike...May the torque be with you..
