The bike has enough excitement and thrill even when one is in his limits....A little sub-3 second blast from 40-120kmph can give your orgasmic feeling The BHP is capable of increasing BPM (beats per minute) in no time

      new SparX Lid

Bought this new lid from PRS. Vicky was all praise for Sparx and it actually is a good helmet.

Its a SparX S-07 Rebel helmet. Summary is as follows:
      • DOT and ECE 22.05 approved, which combined are probably two of the best motorcycle helmet safety standards going
      • Nice paint, graphics and design
      • Very good fit for neutral shaped head
      • Good venting and air flow
      • Visor is about average in optical quality. The two opening vents are a bonus though. And yes, I got an extra shaded visor for day time
      • Very good noise control
Good value for money. Especially considering that this is a stop-gap arrangement for me till I buy a cool one for post-monsoon rides.

I noticed Ram has also bought SparX...Congo buddy.
      To each his own karma!

          khambatki ghat ride

Well, we went till the foothills of the khambatki ghat that leads to Wai...

Sunday @5.15am I was in Doktor's parking lot. He was waiting for me and we left for our common meeting spot. We were the first one to reach there Soon to follow was the cbr600rr limited edition. Then 3 golden busas. In all we were 6 of us which was a very poor turnout because of some people ditching us. Nevertheless, the starters were hit at 6am and the surrounding got filled with thunderous sound. We cruised till Chandni Chowk from where the throttles were twisted hard. I was taking it easy as it was my first long-ride...Couple of guys were very kind and they ensured that I was always either in their rear view or in front of them. Awesome gesture by fellow riders...We re-gathered at a Shivapur MacDs...

          Nevermind some posing

I was given some clear instructions while leaving from here. They said, we will regather about 40 kms from here. Enjoy your ride and dont rush through. It actually meant, the roads from here onwards are superb and we will be riding at Mach speeds. You can take your own sweet time

The roads were really very good. There was traffic at times but overall there was enough room for hard twists. I was loving the ride and was doing steady 130. At times I was surprised to see how well the blade handled at turns @100 ... However I was very cautious about everything...it was concentration to its fullest. Again, I saw one of our busa rider doing 30-40kmph odd speed. He was actually waiting for me to catchup Finally I reached at the Khambatki ghat foot hills where everyone else had settled down. Everyone had a smile on their face as we had Misal, Poha, chai/coffee/cold drinks. People gathered to take snaps of the beauties that were lined up in front of that little joint.

We were supposed to head back when 2 of the busa riders decided to go on the ghat and come back. We were at that joint taking some pics and chatting.

Doktor's beast: Note the Jardine, Pazzo and Arai.

Me gear resting on my bike:

In about 20 mintues we all were ready to head back. The 2 busas came back and we all got going. There was more traffic but again the roads was good and there were lot of patches to try that little-bit-extra type of adventure. I saw 150+ on my Odo for 3 times. That 150 never felt like a 150. (time to update my "Maxumum Speed attained on a motorcycle" section on my profile The busas did 200+ !!
Before the ride i was preparing myself for some small mistakes, some rear tyre slip while downshifting etc etc...Luckily nothing happened. The thing that I liked the most is the acceleration from 0-120 odd kmph...That feeling is unbeatable...

We all came back...regathered to say good bye, after which I took her to the service station for a wash...I just go crazy looking at the bike after shez had a wash

Looking forward to my next ride...

Motorcycle Diary - Road trip 2

I think I will write about my road trips every time I go for one. Apologies for the dejavu

Finally the much awaited Sunday arose. It was going to by my second long ride. The sleepless night before the ride is awesome. Its full of planning, imagining and smiling; while the night after the ride is simply an experience of NIRVANA...well a temporary one; only lasts for a week .

On Saturday, me and Doktor went for a tankup and to check the air pressure etc. We were kinda late and the Shell outlet was suppossed to close at 9pm. I called the petrol pump guy and told him that I must tankup my superbike tonight and it will be nice if he can wait for me Listening to the word 'superbike' he instantly agreed. So we went for a lil spin and what a fun it is....always.

Come Sunday morning and I was up at 4.30am. I wonder why getting up early was so painful during those exam days back then . So, had a shower and wify made nice coffee. She is equally excited about my rides. The jacket was ready and the helmet visor was cleaned a night before the ride. So went to the parking lot, lifted the cover and saw her...I skip a beat everytime I see her.

Then as usual went to the common meeting place where riders were gathering. One fellow rider has a CBR600RR and had bought Jardine just a recently. So on our request he did a few laps on the road just to treat our ears. Man! at high revs the jardine sounds like the F1 cars on TV. Its superb.

The rest of the ride description is similar to my last ride report except that this time I did the ghat twice The ghat ride is indeed a learning 'curve'. The best place to learn cornering, albeit, at lower speeds. Also, this time I will have to update my top speed from 150 to 165...It is not my intention to go faster but I guess it automatically happens with the comfort factor going up. So here are some pics from mobile camera. Actually, when we returned back from the ride, one of our friend was waiting for us with his SLR (camera, not the merc ). I will take the pics from his camera and post it here asap...

The first stop at MacD for coffee and if someone wants to tankup.

A little regathering so that the slow riders like yours truly can catch up with the rest.
