Question(s) regarding Yamaha RX100 engine overhaul

Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan I have never pushed my rx beyond 60 KMPH it has always been sticking with 45-42 kmpl. I have adjusted the idle speed screw according to Yamaha's specs shown in the workshop manual. Its just that the substandard 2t oil killed the engineOriginally posted by aargee View Post

@Dafc - I don't intent to argue, but the point is all the motorcycles have their own limitation & has to be according to manufacturer's spec for the engineering that it has been designed.
I know a guy in my locality who's also a Rx fanatic. He's has an Rx100 & boasts of 48 Kmpl & used to smile (sarcastic) when I say I don't measure.
Once I heard through a common friend that his Rx is bleeding. Did you think about this - if you've tuned the vehicle according to company spec, then why is that you're not getting the mileage according to company's spec?Skill is what keeps you on a Motorcycle

IMO, its from 35-39 or may be upto 40. Those days no manufacturer talked about mileage except HH because of 4S.Skill is what keeps you on a Motorcycle

its true one has to agree,even my RX gives me a avg of 44kmpl its obvious its single hand used and does not exceed a speed of 55-60 u see it also depends as to how u ride it,unnecessarily accelerating in heavy traffic,continous braking,changing gears just to be ahead of others and again stopping,results are 30-35kmpl

guys what are the effects of a wider tyre on acceleration and top speed? I am considering going back 2.75x18 because this tyre is giving me a lot of headache, for starters the tyre won't stop touching the chain cover and it has already got wear marks on the side

^^^ Wider tires or not, I once heard that using heavier tires in the rear will weaken up the crankshaft. Since I have been always using 2.75 X 18 on my rears all the time, I'm unable to give a concrete info.Skill is what keeps you on a Motorcycle

Hey guys I was researching on engine break in and I found these slightly discombobulating links. They are what an avg guy like me would call "loco", basically they are advocating everything that the manufacturer hints at staying away from. Please give them a read and post what you think?

I dont think any where in the owners its mentioned about the tyre size but when i bought my new RXG in 1997 the bike came with front 2.50x18 rear 2.75x18 which was quite slim considering the bike,its for sure that it makes the bike light and handling is easy,but when i shifted to 2.75x18front & 3.00x18rear thats Ceat the bike felt a bit heavier but there was a great difference in road grip was better this time i did not concentrate on the avg the bike was giveng after changing the tyres as my RX does not run much in a day say 10-15kmpl,it depends person to person what you feel good but these are the common sizes for RX.
Besides these size's if one goes for a bigger size like the rear of a CBZ/PULSAR/RD i guess he is sure to screw up his engine

@dsfc - Buddy its hard to say whether it requires a rebore or not simply by looking at the cylinder walls or piston. Do a compression test & find out if it requires a rebore.Skill is what keeps you on a Motorcycle
