I would have tried some other way to get my job done, least would wait especially when there is there is no ETA of the painter!
Hmm... makes sense. But the whole bike is with him, so need to get it done from him. Can get it done from elsewhere, but am not having time to do all that

I did ask him to look for another painter and get it done asap. But then the guy who was doing it initially does a quality job as per the mech. So I really don't want to compromise on quality. I have anyways been waiting for a little over 5 weeks now. So, one more week will not hurt.

Buddy, his garage is in the petrol pump exactly opposite City Pride, Satara Road. Just go to the petrol pump and ask anybody or if you look around, you will find a lot of RD's and RX's. There it is. Hope it helps

One to two month for perfect restoration is acceptable. And i must say, you have got the perfect mechanic(looking at pics) to work on the bike.
I got my Dec 1991 fiat done in 2005. That fella took 75 days, but then it was in showroom shine condition and well tune state (which i refined to perfection afterwards ).
There's lot to it other than saddle....

If you know that painter would be back in a weeks time. Cool

I was just watching your posts where the first post said, painter's return is not known. The second post says, you had waited for 5 weeks already, waiting for one more week would not harm. So let to the confusion.

                Peace

Aah I forgot to mention that the boy in his garage had told me that the painter should be back by 1st. I had that in my head and assumed that I had posted it here... My bad.

Sure buddy. Will try to get the list of parts changed and their cost from him.

@All: I did take some closeup pics of the block(attached in one of my previous post). What does everyone say? Is it fake or original? If you find it to be fake please let me know soon..

Congrats on the rebuild process. What i would like is, you to list down the parts which were replaced & parts which were re-used. As far the barrel goes, it seems Original to me. Hope you can do it. Plz consided the major parts only.

Thanks buddy for your wishes Will surely try to get the list of parts and their cost from him. AFAIK, he has changed everything in the bike except the chassis and the engine(only block & piston changed).

What about crank shaft, engine bearing, clutch bell assembly, Spark plug, reedvalve, air filter? Were they also changed?

The 2-T oil tank seems old, i can understand new ones are very difficult to find, but you would have got the RX135 2-T oil tank, but ofcourse it doesn't have the guage. Also why was the petrol tank being repainted? Couldn't you source a new one? New is anyday better, same hold good for side shields too. I am not saying what you have done is worng, but for future plz keep a stock of Petrol tank, atleast of RX135, if you can't find the RX100 one.

I believe, all of the above marked in bold have been changed. The engine casing and carb remains the same.

The 2T oil tank has not been changed. I asked the boy about it and he said that the tank is in good shape hence no need to change. About the petrol tank, I am myself not sure, why we did not get a new one. Probably the new one being expensive? And we wanted to paint it differently too. Am just guessing. Not sure what the mech. thought.

@Karthik: How much do you think a petrol tank would cost? It would have the company paint right? Or do you get these tanks blank on which you can paint?

Its not too expensive mate. The company tank comes painted with stickers, similar to side shields. Very difficult to match the company painting, but yes nothing is impossible. When available in showroom the RX135 tank used to cost around Rs.3500/-, i remember as i had picked up a RX135 5-speed design tank for my friend in 2006.

All i am saying is, try to learn more during the rebuild. There are many Mechs in India who do the rebuild, but many such rebuilds dont even last for a year. Good rebuilds should last for atleast 8-10Yrs.

Below i am attaching the pic of my friends bike which was restored in 2006 & the picture was taken during April this year. 4 long years & just look at that bike. Its an RX100 converted to RX135 5-Speeder.

Also i am attaching my bike pic taken just few days back (Which was rebuilt in April 2008), in the backdrop is my dad's 1987 Fiat Padmini which was rebuilt in 2004.
