recently bought a 72 jawa 250, not really in emaculate condition. crank bearings were screwed, which induced major play in the conrod, thus seized the piston. was already bored out to the max, so had to source out another bore. still with the mech, hes tuning the carb. rode it after the new bore, feels quite good. is extremely loud, am running on half mufflers, think i need to get longer ones. carb is jikov, with major mseal work. fettering at low revs now, working good at higherish. had a yezdi deluxe in ahmedabad a year back. bullet carb. fortunately, engine was in decent shape. had dumped those awful monkey bars for a flatter jawa unit with those really pretty lever mounts. think ill dump the jawas headlamp fairing. dont like it one bit. planning to do up this bike a bit. farfeched dreams include a cafe racer stance. trying to figure out how to work out the linkages or whatever for the kickstart gear lever. very primitive tech solution would be to move the footpeg mounting bar from where it stays to a couple of inches behind, and welding an additional arm directly behind the present gear lever, allowing for a linkless lowtech reversed shift solution that can also be used as a kickstart. ideas on this welcomed wholeheartedly. btw, the chap who rides my deluxe painted it cobalt blue. its in brilliant shape, but does look a bit off tho. cant imagine what my jawas previous owner shall say if he gets a wind of my plans on his bike.

finally i got to see this pic. Looks like its an RK. Though the pics doesnt show that its a CDI unit or not, but almost all RKs on road today are CDI equipped so i assume that this is a CDI version. I am 99 % sure about it.

I have had a Roadking in the past. It was a beauty of a machine. The engine was really strong. It had this "raw" kick in it. Sadly I sold it a few months back and still regret that.
I then bought another RK a couple of months back. This one handles like a beauty (relatively speaking ofc ! relative to other Yezdi bikes vonlee..) and has a decent engine.
My experiences with Yezdi bikes have been positive thus far. Very simple machine. Next to nothing maintenance - all you have to do is learn the art of starting her properly in the mornings, and learn the art of using the throttle and (no-)brakes while on the road. A crucial element in taming this beast, is to utilize the three neutrals and the gearbox shift points.
You have to learn how to kick with the left leg ! if you have a weak left leg or even the right leg (most ppl would have been used to letting their weight down on the left leg since the other bikes have a kicker on the right, hence you might not be having the same strength in the right leg to bear the weight as you try starting the yezdi)...then you will need to build it up. Strong legs are essential - otherwise, starting the bike will be a physically draining exercise initially
It takes time to learn all these things. Once you learn the tricks....its a joyful bike to ride. Take out those mufflers and blast down an empty highway at 70Ks...nirvana...

CDI unit will be inside the clutch case, a round motor kind of thing. The Family-

As Srini mentioned you need to open the case in on the right side. The cdi or points rest inside it. Its a round thingy. Alternatively you can just look at the model of the bike. All bikes post 1990 were cdi.Originally posted by manubhat View Posthey guyz here is a pic of yezdi roadking....

Completely untrue. The Roadking was in production for 15 years (possibly more though pre-1980 models are pretty rare) without the cdi. The cdi Roadkings were in production only for 6 years (perhaps with just a handful rolling out in 1997). So there are tons of Yezdis on the roads which are point-set.Originally posted by marvinpatrickgray View Postfinally i got to see this pic. Looks like its an RK. That really is a beautiful collection Srini. Who is your mechanic in Chennai and how reliable is he? My dad's 1979 Type B has been gathering dust in my Grandfather's garage for 20 years now. Its the bike I've been eyeing since puberty but for various reasons couldn't get it out. I now want it restored. Suggestions would be great.Originally posted by srinikasyap View PostHI all, this is Srini from chennai, i own a 94 RK, 89 Deluxe, and a 78 Model B.
nice to be here.
I have a 1995 Roadking which I picked up a few months ago here in Bangalore. Its on its first rebore and runs beautifully. Have a few issues to sort out but here's a pic for you guys.
Cheers
Rahul
