The RX100 has a smaller carb so theres no point using it on a 135, isnt it?

Ok, then how about the jet changes & interchange of carbs between 4S & 5S?

Rx 135 5 speed has same VM22 carb as 4s(with different jet size)?
I saw ucal website which says 4S has VM22 where as 5S has VM20.
How can 14bhp be generated using smaller carb?upjetted version of rx100?
Is this true or is the website info wrong?

                Here is the link,

I had my doubts on this one, as the 5-speed carb looks smaller compared to 4-speed carb. As to why the company has gone for a smaller carb for a higher BHP bike, that only Yamaha knows the answer. Also IMO, the carb sizes matters based on Port timing & the design (Especially transfer ports) as well. The 5-speed barrel design is completely different as compared to 4-speed.

It is very difficult to point out as nothing is written inside, but for VM24 & VM26, the numbers are punched inside.

Another thing worthy of making a note is, the RX-K which makes around 18BHP & the RX-Z 6-Speed which makes 20-21BHP both use VM26, so BHP has not too much affect on Carb sizes in the above cases atleast.

@ Doc, if you have any info on the above topic kindly share.

                Thanks.

Did some models of 4S also come with cat con silencer?
Any other cosmetic difference between RX135 4S and 5S?

Yes they did; one such rare piece is what my Uncle presented to my cousin a month ago.

^^ not really. 5S was till 2004 only iirc. the last year they sold some funny Tiger model which had crux meters, crux indicators, and engine covers of the 5Speed, but was a 4 speed inside ( 12.5bhp + 4 speed gearbox ).

This is what makes the 5S so rare ( 14.5bhp and 5 gears )
