Hey all. I know it's been a while since somebody has actually used this thread. But I think this would be the best place to clear some doubts about my beloved rx 135. The bike was restored 6 months back but the work done on it was subpar. Which means I(rather my dad) had to spend more money on making the bike run well. It's been a continuous struggle these past 6 months. Something or the other would go wrong and would lead me to lose my sleep . Now the bike runs fine without major hiccups but I'd like to clarify some doubts .
1. Currently the bike even though a 135,is running on 100 sprocket (39teeth). The bike's top speed have been checked on different occasions and it's never more than 95 (gps speed). I've read on this thread that a stock 135 4 speed will touch 105 true speed. My bike has been slightly ported too and yet it doesn't touch 100 .could this be because of the sprocket?
2. The bike FE is very poor even for a two stroke . It returns a mileage of about 25 km for every litre. Sometimes less but never more. Can't blame it on porting because this was the case even before that. Why could this be?
3. If the sprocket is infact the limiting factor ,which would be the best option .using a 37 sprocket or 34 sprocket?.

vijaydeep is a reboring shop , depending on the pump setting , you can run about 5-10ml/lit of 2t

Yes i am from Bangalore, i will certainly look into contacting the said people with regards to piston,

I am using Autolube also since i am running in the bike i add some amount of oil to the petrol tank as well, Any pointers on the quantity?

I series bore is same as the older ones , you can source any brand of piston as long as you are ready to pay for it, for running infor the first 500 kms or so take it easy , after that you should be fine, assuming you are from blr try vijaydeep/microtec they usually have a decent collection of pistons depending on your budget

Thanks for the reply KB, i do have the original bore, however i have stored it for future use, Also is the I series Bore as god as the E series?
also another reason i did not use it was i was not confident about sourcing an OE or something close piston.
Any advise about the running in?

you can use the 5 speed bore in the 4 speed , no issues , it will be even better if you can source a 5 speed head too, btw what happend to the 4s bore, if its seized just get ir rebored to the next oversize and use it

My Query may be very idiotic however i just wanted some clarity on a few things, kindly bare with me please.
your responses will be greatly appreciated
recently i inherited a 2003 rx 135 model which was purchased from pacer Yamaha back then and was still with my cousin till her left the country.

the bike had not run for 7 years or so hence i with the help of my trusted mechanic and friend ( who worked with Farid Yamaha for the better part of his life) bought it back to life.

however the piston rod was kind of wobbly and the bore was seized.

although the mech assured me that i could use it in the same state for some more think, i had sleepless nights thinking of the consequences of running a not so well engine.
i planned to buy and install a new bore and reset the piston rod, however i was unable to find an original 135 4 speed bore.

some time ago had bought, used and sold a 135 5speed and thinking i would keep it forever had bought and kept an original yamaha 5speed bore and std size piston.

my mech suggested that we use that bore and piston on the 4speed, although i was not convinced, i gave him a go ahead.
as per him he used a couple of gaskets to secure the 4 speed head on a 5 speed bore and from the looks of it, it works.

now the queries are,

1- has anyone ever tried such a thing (5speed bore on a 4speed with 4 speed head) FYI i am running vm26 carb on the bike.
2- since i have never run in a 2 stroke ever, although i have owned most of them and sold them off after completely restoring them , namely rx100, 5speed, a shogun and an rd350, how go i go about it as i am not really clear if i should just ride it at 40kmph.

first ting to do is to swap a working CDI and then the rest. I had a similar issue and i went ahead and changed everything including the reed, last thing I looked at was the CDI and it was the culprit.

after changing the HT coil the problem exist, i think the problem is with the starting coil in magneto assembly itself.

Bought new spark plug. so the problem is within the coil plate itself.

Hi guys,
Me and my friend working his rx100(bought 2 months ago). it has been kept at backyard for long time approx(3 years). now we are trying to start the engine,
i flushed the tank, cleaned carb, new spark plug, changed gearbox oil, new air filter. when i try to start it again there is no response, then i removed the spark plug and when i try to start it there is very low indication of spark.
so i opened the magnet and coil i was shocked to see that it has rx135 coil and cdi, the wiring has been altered to accommodate that. i think the magnet belongs to rx100.
so my friend sourced rx100 coil(some local make), new wiring harness and when we try to install the coil & magnet, the magnet inner side has touched some portion of coil.
so he grinded the points which touches the magnet but again there is very low spark from spark plug.

i want the wiring to be stock:

1.now what are the options we have?
2.why doesn't the new coil work( may be due to grinding)?

when it comes to electrical, i am a loser
