i own a shogun before moving onto pulsar. riding a 2st is something that can be felt only after riding it, on the limit. 4st bikes on the other hand are much smoother and silent. the rush of blood that i have experienced on shogun is missing on pulsar, though pulsar has a better top speed than shogun but what the hell shogun is a small 110cc bike and pulsar a 180cc bike.

    i luv both of them.

yo we have some very environment conscious ppl around, not to mention the flow of luv for mother earth, nice to see that, its very diff to have the best of both worlds dude,u either have it or not,yep I am one of the guilty folks who luv 2 strokes but nuthin I say is gonna ease ur mind cause ur right in watever ur saying abt the 2st but for some folks like me and other proponents of 2st,the overriding factor is thrill of speed, the rest is a buckload of ****,sorry for that .

jus picture this ,everyone of the folks here have done some kinda racin or drag, everyone of u wants to win, dont tell me ur goin to be thinkin abt ur environment allignment when ur gettin ur pants blown by a puny smoke emittin rx and trust me they do ,so either u ride for a cause or u r cracker for speed.....,u decide where u belong and kick butt in ur own way

Well the two strokes need not die...it has its advantages and as all things in the world it has disadvantages as well... btw i had read an article in some auto mag some time back (maybe a year or two) i found an article on it...it shows that two strokes still have life in it..
Only thing required is more research..btw here's the link..

It is abt a 50cc engine..but i believe with enough research the same tech can be used for higher capacities as well..

              Hi all,

Just chill. i read someone's reply for this topic saying 2s & 4s shouldn't be compared. AND HE IS ABSOLUTELY RIGHT.

common guys, what's carrying u all. And please stop abusing ZMA. if someone does not like this bike then do not buy it, it's simple. But there's no denying the fact that ZMA is THE MOST composed bike in India (and i know that some one will not like this phrase). and also please understand that comparing a 2s with a 4s is as foolish as comparing 4s bikes in India with that of abroad. really guys grow up.
if u r talking about heavy 4s in class of 500, 750 & 1000 then also please understand that they make these bikes because pleople there have purchasing power and also they have cutting edge technology. And nobody will disagree with the me that if we would have both (purchasing power & such high-tech) then we would also buy those 4S bikes and also make them here in India. ALRIGHT. so just don't compare two things which u MUST NOT. and it seems that this topic was posted only to abuse wonderful INDIAN PRODUCTION bikes like pulsar, CBZ * ZMA. Just chill...

              Happy riding to all

                hi shadow
dont worry boss this thread is for all comments.. i am sure no one can abuse a bike(its just a m/c lol) and
not everybody is a mechanical engineer in here to grasp the fundamentals of 2 stroke and four stroke concepts in
one shot by reading these forum..but i wont deny the fact that threads like this is a good start for the learning process..
so guys go ahead post your doubts and get it cleared by the experianced members instead of flaming the bikes and members..
                cheers

2st and 4st are two different category so I think there is no use in comparing the two different engine
                  Rulez I care a s**t for it

but then its not ppl who r ditching the 2-stroke bikes but its just that they r not available now as the rules do not permit to buy one.so no point in arguing on that.

Hey dont think that no work is being done on Two Strokes! I read in some mag, a while back some ppl are working on two stroke tech n have developed a 2000CC engine that gives as much torque as Two suzuki gsx 1000 at full throttle at barely 2500RPM!!!! besides having more power n less pollution than a comparable four stroke engine!!!
Talking in indian context, i think two strokes are on their way out or rather out already!!! till something really wonderful comes up!!!!
And ehud u gotta be behind that 2 stroke autorickshaw for just a minute to understand what pollution is!!! U simply get choked!!! As serious bikers we also have to care for the enviroment n how many 2stroke riders u think have modified their machines even one bit! besides the usual cosmetic stuff! U see these modified bikes only at Drags meets n events like that but then they have only 1 aim n thats Speed n Acceleration!milege, comfort, enviroment be DAMMED!
                      Lets go vrooooooooooommm....

YEAH RIGHT, What will all this modding cost???
                          look at this..
                          take a stock cbz
put a ramm intake cone air filter, (you will have to build the ramm intake with stuff lying around. the cone air filter is made by K&N), use the old style big bore stock muffler, performance plugs (like the bosh power of 4), make the carb jets bigger.. watch the needle shot on a cbz... and i am sure this will cost a lot less than all the stuff youve mentioned..
if you want more, then we could look at adding a supercharger to this package.. want more?? NOS??? will do that job also.. hmm ,, look at reboring the engine next....
                          oh
and 4 strokes better than 2.. any day..

look at the bare basics.. a standard 2 stroke engines have higher energy losses, making them less efficient, that is why we have moved to 4 strokes. 4 strokes being cleaner are more efficient also. by efficiency i do not mean fuel economy but the power she pushes out also.

there is a perception issue also involved.
in India we have grown up seeing only 3 performance bikes, the Java(Yezdi), RD2350, Yamaha RX series, all on 2 stroke technology. all the 4 stroke bikes we have seen have really been economy/commuter bikes..

why do you think most motogp bikes are going 4 strokes? .....

wow..and exactly how much of an increase in power do u think these mods are gonna give a cbz ? (forget NOS...thats not somthing we have the right to discuss when we cant even pull off far less complicated mods)..if you dont have the advantage of higher cc's / mutliple cylinder high revving machines, whatever mods u do to a 4 stroke will give u only miniscule increase in power

dude, get this straight. 2 strokes outperform 4 strokes period !they may have been stopped for whatever reason, but get a 2 stroke motogp bike out there of the same cc's as the 4 strokes and my friend there wont be anymore 4 strokes on the podium....a 4 stroke needs to have roughly twice the cubic capacity of a 2 stroke for both bikes to be even...thats the only reason the 4 strokes were beating the 2 strokes in motogp (above 500cc class) towards the end when they were phasing out the 2strokes..even then the 2 strokes gave a good fight...also in motogp what bikes do u think they race in the 125cc and 250cc classes ? TWO STROKES !!...heres one more li'l bit of info..look at the lap times of the 2 stroke 250cc class and compare it with the 1000cc fourstroke class in motogp...u will find that theres barely 2 to 3 seconds difference...

basically the long and the short of it is when it comes to racing...2 strokes rule..and just coz they're being phased out doesnt change that fact.

Theoretically, a 2 stroke engine should produce twice the power a 4 stroke engine, but even in reality, it produces around 1.7 times the power a 4 joke of the same specifications.
