The engine on samurai and max100 are detuned versions of the ax100 engine. Supras are a more powerful version to take on rx. Honestly, i have been itching to try out doc's supra.

Supra was before the Samurai was released. They were always more powerful with different porting, bigger carb and a resonator on the powerup. Yes the Powerup was launched against the RX100 and in two years they came up with the ultimate RX killer- The Shogun.

Then you are restoring a piece of history, Shogun was indeed an Rx-killer but somehow the shogun itself got killed in this attempt, as shogun was not at all that reliable.

Piece of history? Yes definitely. Its one of its kind in the whole world actually.
About Shogun being killed etc etc. you have got totally wrong info on that Kusmaker. I have owned the Shogun since new from 1994 and the first time i had to opennup the engine was at 50k kms cos of a dry 2T oil tank. The clutch plates also lasted that many kms. Another fact id like to add here is Shogun was sold for 10 years and it sold in fairly large numbers till they had to stop it production due to pollution norms and four strokes taking over the market. I still like it better than my RX.

Re: Suzuki Supra Powerup reborn- History revisited!

What killed the suzuki 2 strokes is not lack of reliability or innovation. Infact their mix of lowtech induction system and hightech gear box setup created a near perfect bike. Not to mention, shogun was the only indian bike to come with an expansion chamber.

What has killed off the suzukis is the severe lack of spares created by tvs. If spares were as easily available as they are for rx i am sure they wld still be killing other single cyl bikes even today.

Case in point: see how long max100s have survived. They go unnoticed on roads due to their demure stature but their longivity is remarkable.

Ok, yeah shogun was sold in pretty healthy numers, even i also once went to Tvs-suzuki showroom to buy shogun, showroom guys were giving Test Rides of shogun, and i asked a guy who came for the servicing of his shogun, he was not at all happy with the bike according to him clutch was creating some problem and he was repeatedly visiting the ASC to fix the issue but to no avail, and some other owners also were complaining about something or the other seeing so many owners complaining and the unprofessional service factor got against the shogun and i purchased Rx-100, pollution norms was the biggest factor in killing all these little 2strokes.

Tvs has still got this spare supply problem, even for there newest bikes like the phoenix they are not able to provide spares properly, and you are damn right if the spares of shogun or samurai were available they would have been ruling the 2strokes even at this time also.

Nitesh, wonderful restoration of Suzuki Supra and for me, its like a new world and took a closer look at the pics. Great job and very very detailed. That seat cowl metal fabrication is fantastic. You had not only thought about the durability but it's going to last really really long. This thread is educating me about the Suzuki line up.

Wow! a wonderful thread. Some how i am more attracted to Suzuki 2 strokes because of the fact that the first bike i rode was a Suzuki Samurai. Absolutely love that bike. And Shogun ya it is truly violent and that thing will scare todays kids to piss in their pants. The shogun and shaolin would have truly ruled the roost if it were not for pathetic Tvs spares supply.

Excellent rebuild yamdoot as usual. We want a photo of all your pride possessions in one shot standing together, please. We had a samurai in family and morons sold it off.

Now we have an RX100 in a pity state which i will restore.

Thanks for the apreciation Sibun. Yes Suzuki 2strokes have their own charm. Samurai and Ax100 particularly being hot favorites and very very reliable with practically no maintainence. Yes ill try to take pics of my bikes together once i get some quality time .

Oh yes. i had to persuade him quite a bit to do a job that doesnt pay much now a days as against rebuilding four stroke engines and earning quick bucks . Thankfully he was patient enough to listen to me and do it step by step as instructed.
