Congrats for owning the beast i had privilege to own 4 RDs i know the feeling when you see the bike for first time long after you had agreed to buy that it happened with me also as i had to part with princely sum of 8K for RD back in 2009 & saw it later how the bike was

Guys there are a million updates. The chassis is back from powder coating and it's amazing. My PCs are dead so I will upload some pics when my pc gets sorted(most likely tomorrow). New cylinders procured along with pistons. Paint bought. Body work is over.

Brand new cylinder kits from Hyderabad, guys I know everything about those pistons so let not go there.
In the mean time we selected the color, British racing green from the lotus catalogue

Tried my hands at buffing, Ian not than bad either. For now just stripped paint, tomorrow a busy day.

In the meantime time I put this for sale as Iam upgrading to disc brakes, more on that later, sold the hub for a complete rubber kit and wiring loom.

          continued.,.,,

          To be Continued........

port correction is not required, there are no casting flaws. I measured the ports and they are fine.

Some bits and bobs back from powder coating, the finish could have been better for the money i paid, but who cares

will post the pics tonight, also gave all the knick knacks for zinc dipping. Gave the meter pod for chromming, boy its comming out well. The rear hub is also at the buffing guys very productive day so far. Now 4 items are pending chromming, 2 tail lamp brackets(yes i have 2) and 2 scilencers. will start the assembly by next week end(3rd Jan).

understand that you are happy & excited to get your machine completed , the RD tai lamp bracket never came chromed since you have 2 pieces you could paint one black & other chromed ( just my suggestion) but be carefull on chroming the exhaust , chrome them only when U R sure your engine is almost rebuild & perform well. WHY? bec after chroming the exhaust there is some amount of acid gets trapped in the exhaust so that can damage your precious exhaust, after you get them chromed keep them standing so the fine drops of acid trapped inside comes out , or install them on bike and kick start your bike.

My idea is to retain 1 and sell the other off, i bought another one as the one i had did not have the brackets for installing reflectors.

I will ensure the bike starts running and i will install it then. I know the acid drip issues.

BTW, a piece of advise for all if you are restoring an RD/RX be patient, dont just jump on the first sight of spares, the prices have come down, the moment people know you need parts people start calling you. Please stay away from RD god men.

Got the seat done on Friday, the work is simply top notch and the price was the icing on the cake, just 400 for the seat cover and 127 for the beading. Got a rx 100 beading instead or the RD beading.

Got the illusive avenger hub at just 655 inr(brand new), had to drive 50km for it, but who cares

The apache rtr disc are perfect match, but bought a avenger disk just in case. Gave the hub and a bit more stuff for plating. Will get the stuff by next weekend.

Few quality issues, most of the spares I bought today are cheap Delhi stuff, I have no other option, the market is flooded with Delhi spares.
