Re: Which Two-stroker to buy?

Samurai gives the best mileage in the 2-stroke 100-150 cc category.
Samurai can get a little bump in power by upjetting and porting.
The upjetted and ported Samurais easily defeated the 125cc 4 jokes.

Retro, Yamaha is better any day ! Availability of spares is not a big issue, atleast in bangalore. I have procured most of the spares for my RX 100 at YASS and some from local auto shops. RX 135 is a good option. But can you think of buying a RX 100 ? It is relatively cheaper to buy and maintain. Also serious fun in riding ! Just look at the prices quited by Rx 135 owners, they are between 35 and 45 K. Whereas you can get a RX100 for half of the price and you can be restore it later.

Cheers

Suzuki Shogun anyday !! A pure RX Killer.A stock Gun can can kill a Stock RX anytime and anywhere.I know many will oppose me but C'mon 2 strokes are old and Spare parts are tough to get on both RX and Shogun.Make it as an Experience.

You are correct when you say that a shogun can kill an rx. However you are wrong that its tough to get rx parts. Even rd parts are easier to get than shogun parts. The kind of prices people quote for shogun parts these days is ludacris. Another thing is you can still get an rx serviced and repaired in a yamaha svc. I wanted to start a shogun rebuild but droped the plan when i saw the kind of prices people were quoting for parts and many critical parts were simply unavailable. Today, rx would be the easiest to obtain and mauntain 2 stroke bike. However, shogun is more fun.

One of my friends tried to procure some parts of the Shaolin owned by his family. Unfortunately he was made to run to the Suzuki dealership from the Tvs dealership and vice-versa several times. Both dealerships were telling him to go to the other one - don't know why. He got that done at last but a lot of time, effort and money was drained. But I have not heard anything similar till date for an Rx. for Rds, it might not be easy though.

Tvs stopped manufacturing gun parts ages ago. The svc would not even acknowledge the existance of the gun. Some spares which are common to other suzuki 2ts, like oil seals, clutch packing, cables, body parts and some clutch and carburetor parts are available. But all major parts are in the black market now. Gun and lin blocks command a price upwards of 12k.

Rx, on the other hand, you can find spares for in the svc. Most parts are easily available. Rd parts are costly, but available internationally.

RX Parts are much easier to Obtain and also they are alot cheaper. This appeals for the Yammie. But if you wanna go for RX,Then It should be Yamaha RXZ 5 Speed with Discs.Restore it,Remove Cat Con and place a Custom tuned FFE with Expansion Chamber,Polishing of Cylinder head and Piston,K&N and an Upjet can see you at near 16 Bhp on Crank. If you do the same on The Boss,You will achieve near 20 Bhp on Crank killing even its Own Son,The Apache RTR 180.Shaolin is a 140cc Block which produces 12 Bhp but you can unlock its true Tuned Potential which TVS used for Motocross in Good ol days

Thank you very much for the mod lesson. I am sure your shogun makes 20 bhp. But here is the thing.. The day u blow even a head gasket, you wld be running piller to post for a replacement. We are talking about restoring bikes and ease of running not moding engines.

Suzuki shogun is the best among them all but it's spares are difficult to find and it's costly too .
Well both the rx135 and rxz are good , but the boss smokes them all . If you want easy spare parts go with yamaha .
