Hi guys!

Sorry for the delayed reply. As anyone who has attempted a restoration of their bike from the previous millennium would confirm, the restoration is a painfully long process.

I made a trip to Kolhapur last week, where the bike is being restored and met up with my mechanic Rasool Kaka (the elderly gentleman in the picture) to get the status of the restoration. Murphy's law is completely at play here. First kaka's wife underwent an angioplasty a week after I kept the bike with him in December. Then last week, just as things were getting settled, the other gentleman in the picture (the painter) lost his mother in law. The bike had been in a crash ages back and the chassis had a bend, while removing the same, some other part bore the brunt. Now that has got sorted. The extended frame you see at the back of the chassis is to prevent the rear mud guard from getting bent when the pillion sits.

I spoke to the mechanic just today evening. Apparently the dent removal and painting for half the parts is done. He has also received the parts which were given for chroming. (The place where the chroming was being done, was closed the day I went there) The remaining painted parts will be given to him on Monday evening. Waiting for some other parts to come through. The old block will be sleeved and given a standard size piston.

Are you also planning to change the original Bore of 65.0 mm?

No. Will not be changing the bore. The vehicle had been modified to have CDI (Bajaj KB 100), having it changed to Hero Honda electricals.

Once it is done and I ride the bike without any problems, then I'll consider the project as good, hell even great. Right now it is a pain in the neck. Treat, sure! If I don't get ripped off. Slim chance of that, so cross my fingers.

Thanks Prashant and Jon. The work is still going on and hopefully will be done by next week. Electricals being done now. Engine nearly done.
