Well! The bike is very very smooth, touch-wood!
The tail-lamp glass had cracked, replaced it.

Beautiful bike you've got there. It must get a lot of attention. I test-rode one of these in Bangalore back in around 2001/2002 maybe, it was a 1968 model if I recall. A second-hand dealer had it, quoted something like Rs8,000 I think, which seemed an exhorbitant price at the time. Later wished that I'd bought it. Always loved the sound of these Jawa / Yezdi's, they look good and handle superbly, have ample power, and of course they are becoming more valuable now.

Glad to hear of someone who'd consider taking such a classic on a 400km road trip. The bikes, old as their tech may be, have aged well and are certainly up to the task.

          Thank you.

It does get a lot of attention - appreciative gestures from uncles & envious glances from youngsters.

In 2001/2002, 8K was expensive. They do have a great feel & handle fairly well.

Trust my bike & God, not to let me down (pun intended).

After the restoration, I didn't trust the Railways to bring back my bike unscathed, hence drove it back. It felt as if I was driving a brand new bike directly from the factory.
I am having my fun with city driving now. [emoji2]

I appreciate all the positivity and motivation provided by all here in this forum.

@rk1685 Always been a huge fan of the Yezdi - Roadking and its forefathers the entire Jawa line. This love started when my uncle picked up his Classic around 25 years ago when i was literally a very small child. I can still hear the Exhaust roar in my ears and it feels so fresh and they used to give me goosebumps every time he pumped and started the bike...

It's always so pleasing to see and hear people say and talk about restoring bikes...moreover the feeling becomes ecstatic when someone actually gets it down; like what we have here in your case Sir...Great Work

            ATGATT !!!

            Cheers,

              Re: Renovation 1972 Jawa 250 (353/04)

              Hi guys.
A surprise of sorts in the update, imported some tools from Czech Republic. Chain cover, Exhaust pipe Nut spanner, Steering Nut spanner, Front fork Nut spanner, Speedometer cable cover, Thrust washer of the seat (i.e. rubber padding under the seat), Main stand (Aluminium), Fuel tank sieve & Rubber hose pipe (connecting end piece between carburettor & air filter).

The tools really work and are compatible. The quality of spares is simply brilliant. I was just trying it (ordering online from Czech outlets) out, so I didn't order much.
I just stuck to the stuff I wasn't getting here.

I had thought my battery was conking out, turns out my horn was shorting it. Getting a new horn tomorrow. Using an old self-serviced horn from my CT100 currently.

Attaching the pics of the cable cover & thrust washers.

Changed the headlamp glass (could not get a focus on the ground with the old one - thick glass), Osram Halogen bulb to Philips M5 Bluevision headlight bulb
              (both are 12V 35/35w)

The union nut between the bend pipe and silencer was loose / leaking fumes, tightening it.

The Jikov sprung a leak, changed the washer.

Changed the Rubber sleeve with flap, inserted the fuel tank sieve.

Made some craft after many years. The last pic is that of a felt pad of fuel tank cap. Now no more petroil stains on the fuel tank.

                  Hey thanks!

I found an old Jikov Carburettor among the old parts on the loft.
Looked further into it. Cleaned it etc.

It is a 2926SBD11b, which is a really old one (pre-1962).

                  I am extremely happy .

Going to check it sometime later next week. Need to get the pin thing which keeps the slide in place sorted.
The engine side opening looks oblong but that profile lies flat against the table surface.
The float chamber is sealed with M-seal, which is holding well.

                  Attaching pics.

The Chain Cover I had ordered came in Jawa Maroon, so I had to paint it Black before use.
So long story short, I tried to do it on my own. Not a bad outcome overall.
Others may disagree, but I am cool with it.

                          Re: Renovation 1972 Jawa 250 (353/04)

I had purchased some spares including drum plates, liners etc.
                          Assembled them yesternight.

There are original shims underneath the cam.
There are 10mm circlips securing the liner at the other end.
Was after my CT100 saree guard issue, so didn't get to the shock absorber replacement yet. I will update once done.

In the interim, the Aluminium Mainstand spring wasn't holding it well during rest, sorted that issue out.

The chain cover was rubbing against the chainwheel, dissembled the entire rear wheel and put it back after smoothening the chain cover area which came in contact with the chainwheel.

Got a steel grille horn. It is good. Some battery issue due to disuse.

Some rusting on the tank, rims, silencers, leg guard & saree guard before I could get to it.

This restoration process has taken a lot from me in terms of time, money & even emotionally.

My dad passed away in December 2016, after the 1st half of the restoration.

My mechanic kaka passed away this April 2018 after the 2nd half of the restoration.

Now the bike's welfare rests entirely in my hands...

But all is not bad, it seems that God decided enough is enough. I have taken a lot from him.

I had a baby girl in June. The same day within an hour, I got the M. D. results, both my wife & I passed our final M. D. exams. This Friday we got posted together in the same institute that we wanted (only 2 seats were there and we got them both).

Anyway the work on the bike will go on, at some level. I will update as and when I am able to.

I thank you all for the love and support you guys have shown.

I am thankful to God for keeping me safe during my rides on what is now a 46 year old bike.

I am thankful and grateful to the Late Rasool Pathan kaka (my mechanic kaka) for building my bike and dedicating so much time and effort in getting original parts at pretty much discounted rates (most of the time).

Last but not the least, I thank my dad for giving me his bike, for having faith in me every step of the way, for having my back always, being the perfect dad.... Well I can go on and on....

I dedicate this restoration to my dad (Love you Aannu).Click image for larger version

                              Some changes:
                              1) I put the Speedometer bulb on battery.
                              2) Installed New turning indicators (RE - original), had to get new brackets made for the same.
                              3) Installed New LED fog lights from scratch.
                              4) I have a spare tail lamp where I have recreated the set up.Click image for larger version
