    Re: Renovation 1972 Jawa 250 (353/04)

    Minor update.
Some progress on the assembly front. One wheel is done. The other expected by tuesday. Wiring planned to be done tomorrow. Hopefully by Wednesday should hear the bike start. I have a pic or two more. But the fun is the wait too. I can say that now that it is drawing to a close. The touch up n line painting to be done once bike is up and running.

Work in progress. Need a Old Jawa tail light, ceat tyre, original Tank cap. The last two are not much of a problem. Any help in this regard will be appreciated.

Yup rxfan. It is a very special bike. Lots of memories attached to it.

A few more updates since last time.
Good news first. The bike started in the first kick. It is slightly more complete than it was earlier. Got the guitar seat and chain cover. Couldn't source the round one.

Bad news Fuel tank has sprung pin holes . Getting it back by Wednesday or Thursday evening.
Tail lamp still has an issue with availability. Ceat tyres not available. Will look out for dunlop a.k.a. falcon tyres. or similar.

            Apologies for the picture quality.

Hi. Thanks Prashanth. I had checked c@r*****.com, but seller response is poor. Jawashop, I didn't find anyone who had ordered from it on the forum, hence do not know about trustworthiness and quality of spares.

                    Bad news :
Piston is seizing after 10 mins.
Jikov is struggling to perform as well.

Thanks bro. The tolerance has been kept intentionally low, for getting a better snug fit when it gets its seat. Jikov is not letting in fuel as much as required even after changing the jets, so kaka rectified by putting in a Pacco P47 Carburettor (Rajdoot) not the Pacco P47Y (Yezdi) citing availability issues. Anyway it is a stop gap arrangement till we get either a good new Jikov or Original new Pacco P43 Carburettor. By the way the engine starts on half kick with the Rajdoot Carburettor, something the Jikov didn't do. The vehicle will be run in now with this Carburettor , to better utilize the time, till the new Pacco P43 becomes available. Kaka has assured me in strictest terms that he will not hand over the vehicle to me unless he is completely satisfied with my bike's performance irrespective of how much I pressure him to work faster.;-)
