By default decarb will be done before chroming. People don't put a dirty silencer (or any part) inside the platting tank.

Are you planning to go for wine red? Also check out the original cherry red colour of 100. I guess wine red came with 135??(experts correct me if i am wrong) there are very few cherry red ones now. Attaching pic for reference.
Very well pointed out Sanjay. Its true that there are some instances I too heard some mechanics replacing RX 100 parts. Not to blame anyone hence decided to keep my hands-on this rebuild.

Regarding the color, you are right cherry red was the stock color but looks too flashy for me so planned to go with wine red or Maroon.

Outlook - This is what I desire for, after rebuild look. ( Treat for Eyes)

Beautiful! Yes the cherry red will be a little flashy. However try to get the cylinder head, brake drums etc buffed instead of painting silver. As you can see in the earlier picture which i posted, the spare parts list, it did come with the buffed look. Many people nowadays paint the head too, in silver which no doubt looks good but buffed look would be definitely better! Keep updating.. looking forward to this one! All the best buddy!

Thanks a lot Sanjay !!! Planning to do the build slowly as the weather here in Chennai going to be rainy and cold for couple of months. Overcautious on rust prevention !!!!! Point noted on parts to be buffed.

          Scheduled of Structure Approach :

          1. Collection of information on restoring the bike to stock model. (Exclusively from XBHP threads & folks). - All time lookout

          2. Strip or dismantle the bike to overlook the parts condition and life. - Hopefully by end of Sep'16

          3. Pre-Inspection of parts before Painting & Plating. ( Check with Sriram for source on Frame strength & Rigidity check) - (Oct'16 - Dec'16)

          4. Procure OEM Parts from various sources. (Consultation required from xbhp folks) - All time lookout

          5. Planning to touch the engine at last. (YTD on Engine re-boring) - Jan'17

          6. Perform assembly & fire the engine. - Feb'17

Well planned! I too did the same thing. Finished rebuilding the engine 2 days ago. Currently breaking in.. making sure she doesn't go above 40kmph
You are gonna have a spanking new 2017 RX100 by feb then!

6 Months for a restoration? too much time bro. Dismantling the bike will take only a day max. Once dismantled you can give the parts for external works like buffing, chroming, painting, wheel alignment, Reboring etc whch can be given at a time as it does not depend on each other. All the above process may take a week or more depending on their busy schedule. Meanwhile you can procure the parts also. As you know RX 100 parts are very easily available in market. These activities can be done on weekends and within 2 or 3 weekends your bike will be ready to roar....

3 months Pre-Inspection? Could you please elaborate what is planned for this 3 months? IMO a detailed durability validation shouldn't take 3 months of time.
The part which you inspect and validate to be "OK" for painting / platting by beginning of October may corrode and turn scrap by end of December.

I agree with you Vimal. Since the monsoon in approaching shortly, wanted to do build slowly. Don't want to take any risk as we were already flooded last year with heavy rainfall.
Carrying on the procurement part first. I am very keen on understanding the restoration part thoroughly which will be helping me to maintain the bike for a longer duration.

3 Months Pre-Inspection was planned inclusive of procuring all OEM parts Sathish. As I will be held with my work schedules and commitments for next couple of months will be doing the build slowly.

                  - Check and search for Genuine OEM parts.
                  - Inspect parts with available of any equivalent quality parts or higher.
                  - Try to see if I could do any corrections with any faults or upgrade like electrical systems,

Brief Update After A Month :

Frame Fabrication - After great difficulty the frame has got restored to its original shape as there were a lot of corrosion on it, the joints were weak. Had to replace some tube joints in rear area. Now it looks almost new with Patty tinkering done.

Engine Rebuild - Condition of bore is very good and the buffing job is completed. New Piston & Bearing Kits are yet to procure.

Chrome & Nikel Plating - All Hardware's are done, Planning to purchase new Bolts and Nut Kit for backup stock. Handle bar, Back Carrier, Headlight Holder, Swing Arm & Silencerare plated

                    Paint Work
: Completed for Frame, Tank and Side Shields.

Change in Paint Theme : Black Color with Red & White Stripe (1994 Model)

                    ----consecutive posts auto-merged-----

Help Needed to buy "Duck Type Tank Sticker" (Red & White Stripes).

Unable to find it in near by shops. Can someone confirm the availability of this sticker theme below ?

Congrats Boss for the handsome bike.. Wishes and support for the restoration.
I don't encourage buying nut bolt kit, but u can find some surprise parts in kit which would be missing in the bike... Head light holder better use new one, as it get rusted easily..

Take the tank and the picture of the theme you require to a sticker artist. you might get a better one than the one you buy which is non OE.
