                • The new engine is almost set up. The new crankcase can now accomodate a bigger XL super bore. The stroke has been revised to make it scream. The flywheel, conrod(obviously) and most importantly the clutch assembly are no where compared to stock.

As you read this, the carb issues are being sorted out. If all goes well, in a week or two, I would present you guys a humble looking TVS XL .

P.S: I cannot share pics of the internal works done due to obvious reasons.

BTW, take a look at this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qBd296fSh48. 50cc race bikes(mostly Kreidler make) screaming upto 20k revs with 16-18 gears to hold the bike in powerbands which were as narrow as 500 to 1k revs. Just amazing.

                    • Update

My mates took the bike to a cop free zone for some set up and tuning ( I personally couldnt make it). My mech says the bike 'flies like a sparrow' and did a 90kmph+ (an RX was running in parallel to compare the speed) on opening the bike partly. Looks like the engine needs a bigger carb and its being worked on at the moment.

                      • 99% complete : Our family moped

19th of July 2009, I decided to breathe in, a new lease of life into our 26 year old "moped". Countless spares, a new re-engineered engine and six months later, guys and gals(if any ), here I am presenting you all my mutated race spec TVS XL. Got a word from my friend that the issues with carb and other stuff are sorted out, so we decided to put the moped to the test.

We went to a road which I had never seen in my entire life. Unloaded moped from the 3 wheeler and straight away running-in and stuff. Call it my bad luck (heck with my broken forearm), I had to be a silent spectator and watch the moped blaze trails on the isolated make-shift drag strip road. The engine coupled to the expansion chamber was revving like crazy. The exhaust note, ah...Nothing like it. BADA$$!!

Once again, I had my Victor for speed comparison like the last time, except this time around, the victor was a 130cc high comp set up bike. So catching up with the victor was something I though was close to impossible. Time for an unofficial drag. First 150-200 mtrs both bikes were neck and neck, once the moped got angry(read revved into the powerband) screw the Victor, this baby left it in the dust notching speeds well above 105kmph (Will plonk the sigma next time around). And this was just run-in with a fluttering rich setup at throttle part open, not to forget in the earmarked 400 mtrs. Now my brother wants a victor which can out run the moped .

The moped attracted crowd and we had to vacate the spot earlier than planned.

Next up, IRC tires, paint job/chroming, hand made cowl.

Enuf of me going ga ga ,here are some pics. Video to follow(Victor 130cc and TVS XL side by side) ...

                        • Good Lord!

A fine job there with those inverted handle bars mate! Would look cooler with BSA SLR's bar inverted. (Just my humble opinion ) Phew, with that output must say thats some rocket you've built there!
I am toying the idea to invest in something similar. Here's a peek

Not sure if it will be road legal though!

                              • @Varun : Tks for the appr mate..

This set up is just the beginning (you can call it stage-1 ) and almost there. Most of the set-up is still stock and there is always room for improvement. I am targeting a reliable set up (touching wood ) which can do true 120kmph.

Now guys what shall we name here?
