At last, I got to read the entire log. Beautiful pictures and nice trip log. I don't know why you called the trip a fail. Things don't go by schedule all the time. In all my rides more than 3 days, I had to adjust and rework on the plan based on situation. You can do the rest of the coast ride next time.

Just wanted to give an update that, I was able to complete more or less the entire route of the plan as stated in my first post (http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/tourer/2...tml#post798878) for the distance from Trivandrum all the way up to Mangalore & then back to Chennai.

So, more or less this dream has shaped up nearly true...

Barring Manavalakurichi, Poovar, Kovalam (which I'd been several years ago), Kasargode & few other unnamed/isolated beaches, I've been to almost all the beaches in the East & West coast. Thanks to HV Kumar Sir for the guidance.

Re: Is this a Coastal Ride?

Figured out that, it's time to tease/provoke a few people...err...post some picture hehe

Finally got a chance during March 2013 & it's also quite unexpected; true that life is full of surprises. Until I start the trip, the entire trip was confirmed less than 16 hours before I could start the trip.

Per the original plan, Wife & kids had gone to their hometown for vacation; I couldn't join them because due to work. Two days after they'd left, I got ease with work, which means, I got that desired vacation I asked for but only for a limited 4/5 days.

Immediately I dumped things into my Viaterra CLAW & jumped on to my CBR. After visiting Wife & kids, I couldn't do much there sitting idle. Called up HVK Sir, asked for guidance & then kept aside about 3 days to ride like this...
Day 1 - Trivandrum to Kodungallur
Day 2 - Kodungallur to Mangalore
Day 3 - Mangalore to Chennai

What happened eventually is another surprise, true, life is full of surprises. Here're some pictures...

Towards Azhikode (Meenkunnu beach) I guess; it was a wonderful site & sight. The entire road was awesome, after riding through this, I feel ECR is nothing. But again, we can't compare ECR's delight, as each place has got it's own charm.

The big surprise; Imagine a big cliff where you feel you can jump a little high & touch the sky & you see Water on all three side & can swing your head 270 degrees to see only the water & at horizon the sky & water mate each other. I was absolutely spell bound

aargee, I'm too naive and inexperienced in comparison to say this, but your travelogues make me burn with envy (in a positive way).

You source accurate and reliable info and follow it to the tee. Also, the way you manage time for rides off of office work is amazing (too many "ofs" in that sentence eh!)
Keep riding. I hope 1L kms would come up by mid next year at max.

You've a very good motorcycle, make time & start riding. You are your only limitation.

Well no; this year riding is way too less; last year it was way too much. I'd put about 6K km in just 6 days on account of GQ, then, couple of 2K km in 3-4 days & several Sunday rides. This year most of these things have come down. Barring Karur to Namakkal, Kadayanallur to Rajapalayam to Srivilliputhur to Madurai to Usilampatti to Bodi, Madurai to Pudukottai to Tanjore to Sirkazhi, Salem to Namakkal to Karur stretch, Valparai, Mettur & Meghamalai, I've covered most other main route in TN

Likewise, barring, Tamarasseri stretch, Vandiperiyar to Kattapana to Rajakad to Idukki, Ranni, Parambikulam, Nelliyampathi, I've covered most other main routes in KL

And I don't intent to do any of the above on account of touring. So this year it's going to be very less on ODO. If the ODO reaches 65K from currently 49.5K, it's a big deal.
