But I dint get this, why do we need permit to travel to Arunachal pradesh? its a part of india right? or even india believes its disputed territory?!

      Day 2 - Senga - Sela - Jang - Tawang - Sela - Senga

It was clear and shiny morning, all the dark clouds from the evening were nowhere to be seen.Packed my stuff and started for Tawang at 05:00 AM.

Mighty Sela Pass was just 27 Kms from the place,It was very cold out there. And due to no sign of Sun,my hands started to freeze. As i approached towards Sela, the height increased, road became narrower and slushy.

Brown mountains capped with snow,Bunch of clouds scattered between the tall mountains,no sign of vegetation,in one corner sun is spreading its golden charm and the winding roads which looks like scars on the mountains given by the Human intervention. The view around the climb to Sela was extremely beautiful and enigmatic.

Finally i made it to Sela,it was 06:15 in the morning and the tea hotel was still not open.Being at 13700 ft i was shivering in the cold very badly and a small walk/effort was causing lot of breathing.

Somehow managed to take a photo with the Sela Gate

And just when i crossed the gate i witnessed the two most beautiful lake i have ever seen in my entire life.Sela Lake and the other lake - I forgot the name. Its something like a Oasis in a desert,In the tourist seasons the lake is in frozen state and the area in and around Sela is covered with huge chunk of ice, since i was here in the wrong season coudn't get to witness much ice.But the crystal blue water of the lakes and the mirror image of the neighboring mountains snow caps. The view was just WOW !!

There are many stories associated with the pass, the most interesting one being that of sepoy Jaswant Singh. Its said that in 1962 Indo-China war, Jaswant Singh fought a lone battle with the Chinese near the pass. A tribal woman used to bring him supplies and food during this period and its said that she killed herself when she saw the dead body of Jaswant. Jaswant Singh was awarded Mahavir Chakra, a coveted gallantary award, by the Indian Republic for his extraordinary act of courage.

After few clicks i moved ahead,as it is not advisable to stay at the high passes for long .Now the climbing down part starts.

      TO BE CONTD

      Cheers
      Biru

I moved ahead towards Jaswantgarh following the winding roads. And the road condition went back to Slushy and slippery.

A beautiful waterfall on the way.

Few kms of run and i was there at the Jaswantgarh Memorial. The famous memorial of 1962 war between India and China at Jaswantgarh stands taller than even the 14000 ft high Sela Pass along the steep, serpentine mountainous road to monastery town - Tawang.

Complementary tea is served here. After a bone chilling ride from the morning,i rushed to the tea counter for some refreshment.Had few cups of tea and went to pay my Respect to Jaswant Baba. The place which is testimony to an Indian soldier's unparallel bravery. It is more of a temple than a war memorial for Indian Army soldiers which gives them inspiration and strength in guarding the frontier with China.

I came back at the tea stall,Garam Samosa's were there for sale for just 05 Rs/pc.The taste of the samosa's was just awesome, best samosa's i have tasted so far.Had another cup of Tea and moved ahead for my next Destination Jang.

Few Kms before Jang, one can see first view of Tawang town.As far as i remember..Tawang is 40 kms from the point.

My cell has been switched off from past two days,as there was no Vodafone coverage.Only BSNL network is available in that part of Arunachal.Friends & Family would have been worried,so after reaching Jang..First thing i did is to look out for a STD/PCO.Sadly i was not able to dial the numbers from STD/PCO's

I talked to one gentleman and explained about myself,Expedition and situation i am into.He happily gave his phone to me to do any number of calls.Informed Friends and Family about my whereabouts and thanked the gentleman for the much needed help.I tried to pay him money for the recharge, but he rejected the offer.

I continued towards Tawang,Did some non stop stretches and made it to Tawang in the afternoon.

Was feeling very hungry as i hadn't ate anything properly from the morning.Went to the main market area for a proper restaurant, but everything was closed. So i moved towards Tawang Monastery.View of the monastery from the distance is just terrific.

Just before Tawang Monastery,Saw a restaurant in the left hand side. They served me very tasty Veg momos and Vegetable Maggie. My hunger was finally satisfied.

Tawang Monastery in Arunachal Pradesh is the largest monastery in India,Infact It is said to be one of the biggest Buddhist monasteries in the world outside of Lhasa, Tibet.

The monastery holds Eight-metre statue of Shakyamuni Buddha. The monastery is also known by a Tibetan name, Galden Namgey Lhatse, which means 'celestial paradise in a clear night'.

I simply loved these paintings which were there in the outside walls of the Monastery.

View of the Tawang Town from the Monastery.

                    TO BE CONTD

                    Cheers

Pics speaks a lot about your travelogue no explanation needed as such
Replace the words "I have to" with "I choose to" and notice the difference in how you feel.
