Trip Log:


It was the itch to ride before getting into Corporate world that made us explore western ghats..

I had never visited chikmagalur before,so wanted to ride there…. Some of my friends had done a ride to this place last weekend and posted few wonderful pics,it made my decision easier..

Bikes and Riders:

Suzuki GS150R(Manu-Beastrider)
Yamaha FZ16(Vikram and Girish)

It was 3 days ride and this was the route we took….



This route was the most challenging one..
Am still figuring out whether we took this route or some other non-existent route in gmaps...

July 6th 2012 Bangalore-Hassan-Belur-Charmadi-Kedremukh-Hornadu
July 7th 2012 Hornadu-Balehonnur-Bogase-offroading to Mullainagiri-Chikmagalur
July 8th 2012 Chikmagalur-Kemmannagundi-Arisikere-Bangalore

We initially planned to leave on satuday morning and be back by monday afternoon..But had to change plans and start on friday morning.. As usual like any other ride packed up all the necessary things the previous night and got ready early morning around 4.30am and left home to join my friends.We were 3 on 2 bikes and we had planned to ride pillion on FZ and tie all the lugguage on my bike(gs150r)..

We wasted lot of time tie-ing up the lugguage and left Bangalore around 6am…Reached nelamangala around 7am and took the road towards Hassan..The roads were butter smooth and we were cruising at a constant speed of 80-90kmph for another 80odd kms and stopped for Breakfast………..We Had yummy tatte idlis and started riding towards Hassan…With multiple breaks we reached hassan around 1.15pm..

Then it was belur and towards Charmadi…We were enjoying the twisties and the smooth roads…..

Mountains Ahead!!


Then found a nice Coffee shop in the middle of ghats and stopped for coffee…



As we rode ahead we were welcomed into charmadi with a drizzle…The view was breaktaking….I had a wicked smile inside the helmet,I knew it was just the beginning and we were going to encounter many such mountains,forests ……...........The water that came from the mountains tried to make their way downwards creating beautiful little water fall one after the other……….

i too had planned the same route [offroading] on jan 7 from athudi to bagose but i was on 4 wheels and guys at nature nirvana warned me of danger consequnces if i go .. so backed out and went to kemmgundi and then to agumbe .. do put the rest of log i wana see the that route ..

Sorry for the delay guys.I did not have access to internet from few days.
I will try to complete the log by this weekend.

The route from bogase to attigundi is "ultimate offroading" + we had rains to make it even better..Unfortunately we couldn't take much pics in this stretch as it was raining.
