Mumbai to Tarkarli

NH17 is the one of the most notorious NHs and plus we were riding in monsoon. So we were all excited and equally nervous too for the ride. Pavan, Rohan and me decided to meet by 5 at Airoli Chai tapri and Sushil was meeting us at Ghansoli. I had my night shift on Friday, so I came to office fully geared along with the luggage. I was in office but my mind had already started riding

Pavan and Sushil messaged that they have finished packing and were dozing off to bed. I knew nobody would be able to sleep but they were trying hard. Got message from Rohan at 9pm that he is still in office might have to stretch more. If he stretches upto 11 or 12, he might not join for the ride but thank god he was able to wrap up by 10. So we were all set.

I had planned to get at least 1 hour nap in office. I tried to finish off things fast but my clients were in mood of giving me more work. I was able to just take a power nap of 10 mins

We all met at our respective meeting points and so the ride was finally started. We decided to halt directly after Vadkhal naka.

NH4B --> JNPT Panvel Intersection


The moment we reached Panvel, rain gods started showering on us. Roads upto Vadkhal were all screwed up and are always screwed up. Finally crossed Vadkhal and yes now the real fun of NH17 was about to begin. Gave our butts lil break and had cutting at an chai tapri.

All were feeling hungry but we decided to halt for breakfast at Mahad. Rohan knew a good place in Mahad. As we started from Vadkhal, the roads started becoming smoother and we were riding 90+ at most stretches. Covered good distance and finally reached the dhaba. Ordered the usual stuff namely onion bhajiyaas, poha, etc. Few pics...

Tummies full and yeah all of us were feeling the fatigue but the mighty Kashedi ghat and its curves were waiting for us. Geared up and started the ride towards the Ghat. Rode upto the mid of the ghat and took a small break for some pics...







After quick fotoshoot, our next halt was at the top of Kashedi ghat. It was not raining so we were enjoying the curves to the fullest. Reached top of Kashedi and decided to spend some more time so that our butts get a big break and so our babies. Few pics...

It started raining heavily after the above pic was clicked, so geared up immediately and started towards Parshuram ghat. Took a break at an stall just after crossing the Parshuram ghat...

After this break we didn't take any pics. We reached Lanja by 5 and we were very hungry. It had started raining cats, dogs, bulls and what not. We were fully drenched. Took shelter at an roadside Chinese stall and gulped some starters. There were only 60-70kms to cover so we could have made to Tarkarli in day light but later upon confirming the distance with the hotel guy, we came to know that we had to cover around 150+ kms. It was raining continuously and the day light also had started to dim. Hotel guy told us that the road conditions are worst for 35-40 kms. We knew that this was going to be test of our limits and night riding skills

Roads were solid screwed up and sure shot rim benders. We were riding at sane speed of just 30-40 kmph. Heavy rain, foggy visors, extreme bad roads, Z black roads, dense jungles and finally we covered the bad patch. Finally after reaching Kankavli, we took an butt break. All were super exhausted. We had to cover 25-30kms more but that felt like it was more 250-300 kms

Finally reached MTDC resort Tarkarli at 11, booked a 5 bed room bed, had dinner at resort's restaurant and dozed off to bed. Food was not good and also expensive too...

Saale sab ghode bech ke so gaye after lots of Bakar and also after very hard core riding. I told everyone that we should wake up by 6 so that we could have some fun on the beach. Fishermen also return early morning so it would be a good time for getting some good clicks. First explored Tarkarli beach off the resort, did some tp and later left to Malvan beach...

After the fun and dhamaal, everyone was hungry. I wanted to try out famous local dish "Cut Wada". Enquired few people as to where we can get the best. I guess it was Sawant's hotel. Just one pic...



Tummies full and returned back to the resort. Plan was to relax for some while, hit the famous Bamboo hotel for lunch and later visit Angnewadi temple and Sarjekot port. There were few shacks on the beach attached to the resort. We all decided to spend some time there and so the bakar started. The bakar stopped after some time. It was soooo calm and silent. All we could hear was just the sound of waves splashing and cool breeze. Rohan and me immediately went into Hibernation mode. Sushil came and woke up and both of us after 15-20 mins but trust me, that nap was so refreshing and we just didn't wanted to move from that place. At the same time, we were very hungry and the delicious sea food was waiting for us at Hotel Bamboo. Sharing few pics...
