A nice, neat & crisp travelogue, good presentation!! Sittin' in office, jobless, I read it in one go and now I feel deeply inspired. That was some serious off-road ride
, despite the hurdles. Kudos!!

Re: Western Ghats Solo
@chaosaddict Thanks a ton for those kind words. I used to love my bike. Now I am obsessed with it by seeing the way it endured tough conditions for which probably it was not born. Bikes breathe. Bikes live. Bikes reciprocate. Bikes emote. So bond with bikes is what I realized. May be sounding like a sentimental fool hereOriginally posted by chaosaddict View PostA nice, neat & crisp travelogue, good presentation!! Re: Western Ghats Solo
The pictures are truly awesome especially the bike on sand stances. Not that I own a red Avenger
honestly the bike's red color blends superbly with the background color. Good pics there mate!
P.S. Any photoshop work on it???My DIY(s) - Sprocket bearing change | Paint job | Custom speedo dial
Getting angry at somebody is the same as getting angry with a bike that just won't go. You should stop and start thinking.
A good mechanic will let you watch even without charging you for it. |
It is funny to know that we've been imitated and copied so well and surprising when we notice our mistakes are copied as well.

I was so happy after riding through Kudremukh National Park. Headed towards Kalasa. Near Kudremukh saw three bikers one on RE CLASSIC, one on HONDA CBR250R and I could not see the other one properly. Original plan was to first visit Sri Kalaseswara Swamy temple, then Horanadu Sri Annapoorneshwari Devi temple and then head back to Bangalore. And, can not return without having meals (Prasadam) in Horanadu temple.Hence headed straight to Horanadu via Kalasa. On the way stopped near tea estate near Kalasa which has become like a must-stop for everyone passing through this route.

Headed straight to Horanadu. Love the place. Love the meals given as prasadam in the temple. The best food I have ever tasted. I always relish the food here. For me (purely personal opinion on a public forum) no five star hotel food can come close to this. An absolutely deligthful temple. Just being there fills me with abundant joy and energy.

After paying my obeisance and humble offering to Sri Annapoorneshwari Devi, had the best prasadam meal and headed to Kalasa. An old gentleman who has a shop, which serves tender coconut and tea to vistors, near Sri Kalaseswara Swamy temple, was kind enough to keep my luggage in his shop, just like the last time. I noticed that good man has not changed a bit in last one year. A nice, humble guy. Paid my obeisance and humble offerings to Sri Kalaseswara Swamy temple. A very calm and peaceful temple. Replenished my beast and myself. Started towards Bangalore. After sometime I regretted that I forgot to take a picture of Sri Kalaseswara Swamy temple. Roads were under repair. My beast's suspension and front forks were badly hit. I rode on with minimal breaks in between.

I could not wait to reach home. Moreover, I do not like riding on Hassan-Bangalore Highway, till the four-lane NH starts, as the four-lane work is going-on on half of the route forever and seems like to be continued forever. This single lane NH, to me is horrible, especially in the nights because of reckless overtaking and countless diversions. Hence, wanted to get over with this stretch at the earliest. Was cheered by and given thumbs-up by a few which pepped up my energy. I kept riding with few shortest breaks in between. SMSed my brother that I would be coming home for dinner and asked him to have something ready for me. In the mean time, I noticed that my left palm wound was getting worse and was beginning to pain. My brother replied stating thunderstorms in Bangalore. I was totally surprised. With 70 K ms to reach Bangalore, started seeing lightning in the sky. Kept riding. Fueled up and resumed. Slight drizzle became light shower and then it just rained cats and dogs which considerably reduced my pace even on a four-lane highway. Pushed through terrible water-log. I was totally soaked. I reached home, by 11.15 PM, as a tired, hurt and overwhelmingly happy person.
I must say bro you had a awesome ride... and you know its never boring reading some one's travelogues.. you not only see places through their perspective apart you also learn from their mistakes.. Great ride bro.. hope you have recovered from those wound.. God Bless you.. Ride safe>>
