Re: I Miss You - Indirapuram, Delhi NCR to Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu
12th June 2014:
Alright. I couldn't sleep.. You know, those sleepless nights when thinking about the next day rideplanning on how much we can complete.. I was trying to sleep and the time was some 11 PM.. since I couldn't sleep, I decided to make the plans for the next day on how far to travel and the time frame to cover the distance.. I opened up my Android Device and opened maps.. entered Adilabad in from field and Coimbatore in to field..
I was so sure I can make it to Coimbatore the next day
I decided to make it to Hyderabad and have something to eat.. then move on to Bangalore with minimum breaks.. I turned on the Alarm and set it to 4:30 AM so that I can leave by 5 AM and slept off..
I woke up in between at 1 AM and noticed that the fan and the A/C were not working.. Then I got up from the bed to turn on the lights only to realize that there was no electricity.. I opened the door to find out what happened and there was generator sound. I shouted "Bhai, Kya Hua?" they said nothing sir, the generator just started. The electricity was back and I went back to bed and slept. Again, I wake up at 2 AM with the same problem. This time I just got fed up after waiting for 10 minutes and got out of the bed, went to the washroom, took a bath and God Damn It. I got ready, packed up my bags, wore my safety gears, put on my small back pack and took the luggage down along with my helmet and gloves..
Those guys were playing cards fully drunk.. I asked them to do the Check out formalities and while they were doing it, I brought my bike out of the parking lot and started tying my bag to the saddle and I got myself ready. The time was 3 AM by now and for me to reach Hyderabad (310 kms) it will take me some 5 hrs. which means, i will reach by 8 AM.
I went out of the Hotel. It was dark with no one on the road.. went on to NH7 aka AH43 and filled up the tank once again just to be on safer side as it is too early in the morning and I didn't want to take risk early morning when most of the Fuel stations will be closed...
The highway was a beauty to ride at night.. reflectors everywhere guiding me the path I have to follow without making a single mistake.. not many trucks on the highways at this point of time to my surprise.. there were a couple of things running all over my mind.. 1. Drunk Truck drivers over-speeding 2. what if something goes wrong with the bike? No one will be even there to assist me in case I needed some assistance..
after riding for some 150 kms, time being 5:30 AM, i felt the bike wasn't smooth as before.. the bike felt like it was consuming more fuel as the Real Time Mileage Indicator was displaying very low mileage figures.. I thought it could be the Air Filters which needed cleaning so at around 6:15, I halted at a Dhaba and ordered a cup of tea as they didn't have anything else prepared (too early) and meanwhile, i pulled out the Side panels and the Air filter, tried to clean it to an extent and put it back in place..
I just washed my hands and my face and started off to Hyderabad again...Last edited by rreneav1987; 07-16-2014, 10:03 PM.Splendor - 2k to 2006

Re: I Miss You - Indirapuram, Delhi NCR to Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu
So I started from the Dhaba at about 5:50 AM towards Hyderabad hoping I will get a better FE.. but it didn't improve and this made me abuse myself for not changing the Air Filter in the previous service.. I was still some 100+ kms away from Hyderabad and I was hoping to find a Hero Service Center in Hyderabad to change the Air Filter but my bad luck, no Service Center opens at 7 AM
I continued further and this time I felt lot of friction.. as if something is rubbing against the tire and I slowed down and stopped the bike to the side to see the rear tire.. I was surprised to see the side walls of the tire being rubbed off by the chain guard.. i didn't have the tools to tighten the chain and hence I badly needed a Mechanic who can tighten the chain for me.. as I neared Hyderabad at about 7:15 AM, I started looking out for mechanics.. alas, it was too early for any mechanic to wake up.. I finally reached Hyderabad at 7:30 AM, went to an ATM and took out some cash.. what I hated about Hyderabad was.. "NO FREAKING DIRECTION BOARDs" Instead of going through the highways, I went into the city and I was stuck inside the city for more than 1hr and 30mins.. by the time I came out of Hyderabad, the time was 9 AM and again, there was not a single mechanic.. like I said, the avg was a lower than how much I was getting the last 1600 kms.. I had to fill up the tank once again as I didn't want to take risk.. I was on a look out for a Fuel station who accept credit cards.. but priority was a mechanic..
As I hit the Bangalore expressway once again.. I found a mechanic who tightened the chain and once he tightened it, I lubed the chain. Now the tire was moving free without strain.. I paid him and I checked the Real Time Mileage indicator and this time it improved drasticallyI filled up the tank in the next fuel station and hit the highways.. riding at constant 100s was a pleasure with little curves here and there.. people staring at me was never new to me.. People in cars overtaking me just to see if I am really crazy to ride from New Delhi.. I sure was
No pics today as I had to complete 1300 kms to my destinationI will update the log tomorrow..

Re: I Miss You - Indirapuram, Delhi NCR to Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu
I had another 570 kms to reach Bangalore.. the excitement in meeting my fiance was growing more and more.. This thought only gave me enough guts to complete the ride to Coimbatore today itself.. I had 12 hrs in hand to complete another 950 kms.. isn't that possible?? Lets find out
Till now, I have completed 350 kms from 3:30 to 9 AM.. another 570 kms to Bangalore and 950 kms to Coimbatore.. with the excitement, I continued on with my ride.. went further at high speeds of 100 - 110 kmph.. constant speeds with Minimum breaks.. the highways, however was very very dry.. hot sun started climbing above my head... I was worried about dehydration so I bought 1ltrs of water and kept it inside my bag.. didn't bother about the water getting hot, I just didn't want to take risk of getting sun strokes and dehydration.. the Direction boards directing me towards Bangalore made me more excited making me to forget about my Sore Saddle and pain in my Butt
as I was speeding up, there was a Mahindra Thar following me with KA registration.. he overtook me and asked me to stop.. I stopped hoping I wasn't going to get robbed.. they started conversing with me in Kannada.. I was like.. sorry, I dont know Kannada and they started conversing in English.. asking me if I am riding all the way from New Delhi. They were eager to know and that was the reason for them to stop. then they asked for how many days you were planning, how much is the expected expense for this ride.. if I am riding alone and what is the reason for this ride.. they offered me drinks and cigarettes, I said no thanks, I don't smoke or drink.. and they clicked a couple of pics of me and my Black Pearl along with their Jeep.. then they wished me and asked me to ride safeSpent some 10 mins of my precious over there :banghead:
so I continued my way to Bangalore and as the distance reduced, the eagerness increased.. I was expecting to reach Bangalore by 4 PM and as expected, I reached Bangalore by 4:30 PM.. I had 2 possible routes to reach Coimbatore.. 1. via Mysore 2. via Salem..
Via Mysore, the route is shorter by some 50 kms and via Salem, the time to travel is almost the same.. I was in a dilemma on which route to travel. Initially, I decided to go via Mysore and something came to my mind and stopped me from taking the Mysore route.. I have never traveled through Mysore and in case I get lost and if it is dark, I will be stuck.. also the mobile battery was about to die.. so after going a few distance towards mysore, I turned back and started asking for directions to Salem
now the problem again arouse.. directions.. damn.. a metro city without any direction boards to Salem was simply annoying... Though people here helped me with the directions unlike in Hyderabad, it would have been easier with directions here and there if not everywhere.. Finally, I hit the Hosur highways and by the time I reached Hosur, the time was already 6 PM.. How can I forget the heavy traffic in Bangalore.. Phew.. One heck of an in city ride it was... I took a short break once I reached Hosur.. called up mom and told her my training was going on fine and blah blah.. then I called up my Fiance just to confirm she didn't have any other plans over the weekend..
She planted a Bomb on my head.. she left her hostel to her home to spend time with her parents.. I was like &)*#&)#**)$#)*)#($&*# at myself and then I controlled the emotionsI asked her when she was planning to leave to Hostel and she said she will leave the next day itself and now I had to change my plan accordingly.. Now, instead of going to Coimbatore, I had to go to her Home Town which is some 60 kms before Coimbatore..
I started going towards Salem at pretty high speeds.. there was traffic here and there as it was on weekdays.. it was getting dark and I still had some 280 kms to her home town and this would take me some 5 hours.. the time was already 6:30 PM.. According to the plan, I will reach by 11:00 - 11:30 PM.
after crossing some 60 kms, I took a small break to buy myself some water.. I removed all my gears, helmet, balaclava and my backpack.. I just looked at my helmet and this is how it was
The people in the store started asking me if this is a new bike from Bulleti was like no, it is a Karizma from Hero Honda
then they started asking all the usual questions and after I finished explaining, I decided not to say I am riding from New Delhi
I left the place and now Salem was some 100+ kms from where I was and the time was already 7:45 PM.. from Salem, I will need to ride another 90 odd kms to reach her Home town.. so i decided to stay over at Salem.. I could have gone further, I didn't want to ride till Erode as many of my relatives stay there and I could get caught..
after riding for another 1hr and 30 mins, I finally reached Salem.. Found a decent room but no A/C.. I felt that it would have been better with A/C but then after I entered the room, I realized I didn't need an A/Cthe room cost me just 450/-
I unpacked my luggage and went to the room after all the check in formalities.. went and took a bath and damn, my Ass was sore... It was paining like anything.. I just spoke with my fiance for some 30 mins.. got the information that she will be leaving from her home at 6:30 AM, she was saying her dad will drop her. i convinced her to travel in bus saying don't disturb him blah blah and she got convincedagain before hanging up, I just confirmed the time when she will be leaving.. I set the alarm for 4:30 AM, so that i can leave by 5 AM and reach her place by 6:30 AM.. I had another 90 odd kms to travel.. I was sure I will make it there by then.. I slept off after a tiring day
Total Kms Traveled - 1193.6 kms
Time Traveled - 3:30 AM til 9:15 PM which comes to nearly 18 hrs including all the time I wasted in Hyderabad and Bangalore..
This is the longest I completed in 1 day in my touring lifeLast edited by rreneav1987; 07-17-2014, 11:47 AM.Splendor - 2k to 2006
