  • I Miss You - Indirapuram, Delhi NCR to Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu

It all Started when my fiance and I had a chat early morning on the 9th of June 2014 (Monday).. I have no idea what happened, but we had a small argument and I still don't know what the reason was.. I woke up early morning as usual at 5:15 AM, sent a Good Morning Message to her and left to Gym. Came back home and we had a small argument.

After few hours, she called me up and we were speaking over the phone. She cried and she said "I Miss You". The tears shattered me and the thought of meeting her struck my Crazy mind..

I checked the Google Maps for Distance from Indirapuram, Ghaziabad to Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu and the results were as below.

He tried to convince me that it is not possible to complete 5000 kms in 7 days and he asked me to extend the time period which of course I couldn't. Working as a Software Engineer, you guys would know the pathetic working conditions.

He was kind enough to provide me with the details.

Just to ensure my fiance doesn't have any other plans during the weekend. I checked up with her and she didn't have any plans AS OF NOW.

My bike was recently serviced and I completed some 50 kms after the service.. had the tank filled as well.. Both of these were just coincidence

Yes, as they say Love is mad. Must not forget, it is the bike that makes all these crazy ideas possible. It is the machine which gets us past every hurdle.

It was for sure the craziest thing I have ever done in my 27 years on this Planet I couldn't bear the tears she shed that day so I wanted to surprise her and that's the only thing that was striking in my mind. Nothing else was running in my crazy mind..

It sure was mate Though I couldn't enjoy the scenery and other stuff due to time constraint

                ===

Well, let me continue with what was going on in my mind that day (9th June 2014)

going by the distance, I had lots of calculations running in my mind... if I ride at 90 kmph speedo indicated, the actual speed in which I will be travelling is some 70 kmph.. so if I ride for 15 hrs straight, I can complete 1050 kms per day.. Ehh.. just calculations you see.. Like I said, nothing was running in my crazy mind other than how to reach there.. and reach there safely.. well come back safe too

Ok, then I had to make a plan to say something to my parents.. think think think.. well.. i got an idea of saying i have a training in Hyderabad, client side.. I already told mom that I will have some sorta training outside Delhi - NCR (Not fake) as I was suppose to go to the client side for a couple of weeks

So that evening after I reached home. I told mom that I might be going for training in Hyderabad and I started packing up.. one backpack completely filled with Tools and stuff for bike and the big backpack was stuffed with cloths and other things from the check list

The next day, I got up as usual, woke up at 5:15, hit the gym and then left to office a little early as I had some additional task to complete so that no work is pending from my side..

The same day, I thought why to delay the ride when i can leave the same day afternoon by 3 PM and reach as far as possible and take a halt.. I can ride upto 10 PM and then take a halt. it will save me some 400 kms and an evening ride is always a pleasure

Now, my duty was to call mom and tell her that the tickets have been booked for today itself and I will be leaving in the evening..

so handling mom wasn't an issue at all.. well, then comes the Man of the house, my dad.. I called him up and informed him the same.. He was smart. he asked me for the Soft copy that the manager will send. I managed by saying they have just informed me and I will get the official mail in some time..

I had to think again on what to do. Then I figured out, I will draft a fake mail and send it to my dad and I did

So I completed as much task as possible and noticed the clock hit 2:45 PM.. I acted as if I got a call and I got out of my desk, went out and came back with a serious face.. told my manager I have to leave to Chennai immediately due to some emergency situation. he asked if everything was fine and i said no and he said take care..

I left to home that day.. Picked up the packed bags and came to the basement.. tied the backpack to the saddle of my Black Pearl.. picked up the Knee guards and elbow guards from my friend's place where I left it the previous day.. No jacket as my parents would definitely doubt me and I will get caught..

Reset the Trip meter, clicked the pic of the odo and found my Black Pearl was about to complete 35000 kms.. odo read 34995 kms.. I smiled and I turned the ignition On and started the bike.. the engine roared

Re: I Miss You - Indirapuram, Delhi NCR to Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu

So, I come out of my Society Building.. People staring at me like I am an alien wearing those elbow and knee guards.. I was just excited and more excited as it was my first Long Solo Ride..

as I reached NH24, I realized I didn't check the air pressure in a long while.. I decided to get it checked on my way.. I also had a huge confusion on which road to take towards Agra.. Noida Greater Noida Expressway and then Yamuna Expressway or via Faridabad and Mathura..

I was still in a confusion and decided to hit the Yamuna Expressway via Noida Greater Noida Expressway.. I didn't cross 60 kmph and I got the air pressure checked.. the guy asked for Rs. 5. I had only Rs. 10 and that idiot said I don't have change, either get the change and give me or give me this Rs. 10 and go.. I had no other choice as there was no other shop nearby.. cursed him for cheating me.

so I hit Noida Greater Noida Expressway and as Planned, I didn't go anywhere beyond 90 kmph.. I stuck to that speed til I saw the wide open road I opened the throttle and zoom.. touched the 125 kmph mark.. there was a p200NS going ahead of me.. as I overtook him, he probably felt I am racing him.. he picked up speed and caught up with me.. I raised the throttle a little more and I was like WTF?? my bike was flying at 131 kmph.. the fastest till date.. I just saw to the side and that guy was riding along with me crouching the same way i was.. i noticed the speedo showing 141 kmph on his bike

that went on for few kms on the open road.. and I had to take a left to hit the Yamuna Expressway..

I never liked the Yamuna Expressway for many reasons.. the concrete road which isn't good for the tires was a major reason.. and the temperature was very high, I was worried that my tire might burst.. this expressway is known for number of accidents..

As time passed by.. I felt the bike was riding at 80s and the moment I noticed the speedo, I was doing 100s.. the bike was a charm to ride with 10W30 grade engine Oil

people kept starting at me as I overtook them and as they overtook me.. probably looking at me as if I am an alien or something.. some cars I overtook, overtook me just to have a glance at I have no idea what.. they then slowed down.. so I hit the Toll Plaza and paid 150/- to Agra..

It was a boring stretch.. too hot, no shadows.. i wanted to cool down the tires without having to stop as I didn't have much time.. to my luck, there were guys pouring water on the grass and water was spread on the road.. I was riding on that water for almost 200m and hoping this would have cooled down the tires.. I saw this huge bus in the RVMs and I didn't wanna get hit so I slowed down and moved to the left lane.. where a very slow moving car was about to stop. I was receiving calls from office so I had to attend them as I asked my TL to contact me in case they needed some assistance.. so when I was overtaking this car, I honked and there was no sound.. damn.. I thought the Relay got cut off and I was screwed and had to ride without horn.. after the 2nd toll plaza, i stopped by to get cold drinks and I had a look at the Horn Relay and the wire was disconnected.. I tried to plug it back in and it kept coming out.. i pulled out the plyer and tightened the clips and fixed it back with the insulation tape.. Pressed the horn button and it worked.. viola

This break was for almost 10 mins as the sun took away all of my energy.. nevertheless, I still had the opportunity to head back home then I remembered those 3 words my fiance said with tears "I Miss You". that gave me the will power and I moved on.. My Destination point Jhansi and I had high hopes of making it till there.. Till I reached Agra..

No directions boards were a huge problem in Agra and the other major disadvantage was, people don't know the way to Jhansi. Infact, they provided me a wrong direction.. then I remembered Gwalior and I asked them directions for Gwalior.. Adding to this headache was the heavy traffic.. the engine heated up because of the bumper to bumper traffic.. This almost killed an hour of my time and The time was somewhere around 6:15 PM.. This traffic and heat killed me already just completing somewhere around 220 kms.. and another 220 kms to Jhansi with just 3-4 hrs of riding time left for the day.. I just wanted to have something to drink and that too cold.. but on seeing the straight road, I just wanted to pick up speed and go as far as possible.. but by the time i crossed 100 kms, i was simply too tired and exhausted.. probably because i went to gym in the morning and didnt take rest till now..

I just enquired about how far Gwalior is and I filled up the tank after the tank showed half tank. I didn't wanna take risk on highways without fuel being a Solo Ride.. Gwalior was just 10 kms.. I somehow managed to reach Gwalior and found a decent room for 1200/- i had no other choice but to stay here as the other rooms didn't seem as secure..

Spoke with my fiance over the phone and slept for the day.. She was a little upset as I didn't speak with her in the evening which I always did.. It didn't take much time to convince her she is sweet enough to understand when I say I have lot of work, i will talk to you later..

I kept alarm at 4:45 and plan was to leave by 5:30 in the morning

will come back with more tomorrow..
Sorry for the less number of pics.. I didn't have time to click pics on my way to Coimbatore..

11th June 2014: I woke up and checked the time, it was 4:15.. I couldn't sleep further. It was too cozy and the AC kept me from getting up, but won the battle.. did all the morning chores, took a bath and the time was 4:45 AM, the alarm rang.. everything went better than planned

I went down to the reception and the guys were sleeping. I didn't want to wake them up, however I had to with no choice.. did all the checkout formalities and by then the time was 5:00 AM.. I asked them to open the gate to where the bike was parked.. I started settling the backpacks to the saddle and dusting off the dusts from the bike.. I checked the maps to Jhansi and it was pretty confusing so I decided to ask my way to Jhansi.. My Destination point for the day was to ride as far as I can.. at-least 1000 kms today..

Till now, I have completed 335 kms from home..

So I finally reach the Jhansi Highways (well, not really highways though it was a 2 way 4 lane road the roads aren't that great with lots of potholes here and there causing you to apply brakes often.. though I was able to manage average speeds of 80-90 on the speedo.. Ahead of me, i saw trucks getting diverted to the other side of the road..

I didn't understand what and I just moved on to realize after a curve, there was a heavy collision between 2 trucks and that was a nasty sight.. I had to take a U turn and go back to the point and go the wrong way..

The road was free. was cruising at 80s easily and I just loved the curves there.. every time there was a curve, I used to bend as much as possible and people looked at me as if I am a crazy guy.. I reached Jhansi by 7:15 AM and the roads were confusing again without any direction boards making me stop often to ask for directions.. I was asked to follow Lalitpur direction..

I had 2 possible routes which I can take.. Bhopal and Nagpur.. I was inquiring the route to Bhopal and then I realized going via Bhopal would increase the distance and time consuming so decided to go via Nagpur.. The roads were frankly few of the worst roads I have traveled through in my biking life.. I stopped to have a short break for 5 mins.. then I started the journey again, the road conditions were poor for almost 10 kms and when inquired the truck wala, they said the roads will be fine in another 2 kms.. Hearing this, I was pretty excited and started riding..

I hit the highways soon and the road was simply perfect.. Straight roads, no curves as i see ahead of me at-least for the next 4-5 kms.. boring though without curves.. I kept riding as fast as I can to cover as much distance as possible before the sun hits me hard..

The roads were too boring to ride.. I decided to stop at a small stall and have some cold drinks as I reached Lalitpur.. (I didn't have any food throughout the ride except for the time I spent with my Fiance) cold drinks have high energy and gave me the energy though the half ltr bottles became Hot drinks in a matter of 10 mins during this small break, I decided to check the oil level. I pulled out the plyer and opened the oil level knob.. found the oil level was normal though it was 2 mm below max level. I pulled out the oil bottle and filled up few ml of oil and kept it back in my small backpack on my back (not sure if the ASC guys filled up the required amount of oil) I pulled the zip to close the bag and the zipper broke off.. doomsday.. screwed.. I didn't know what to do.. I pulled out a Handkerchief (the huge ones in the size of bandannas.. and managed to cover the bag and it helped prevent the stuff from falling off of it..

Meanwhile, people as usual kept staring at me as if I was some sorta thief (i was wearing a Balaclava ) kids surrounding me and the bike.. phew.. managed to get out of there as soon as possible (spent some 10 mins there because of the bag and checking the oil level)

So I started the journey again and the time was around 10 AM.. before i started, i checked the maps to see how far is Nagpur from where I was.. it showed around 500 kms..

As I went further, the highways was free.. as in no one was even travelling.. no small stalls or whatsoever.. doing 100-110 was simply nothing on these roads.. had my Black Pearl had more power, I could have done 150 constantly on these roads.. thats how straight they were..

I just kept going and going and going.. by the time i completed around 300 kms from Lalitpur, the fuel indicator showed half tank. So I started looking out for fuel outlets where they accept credit cards.. finally found one and I filled the tank..

The sun was right on my face and I just couldn't take it any more.. I took a break for 5 minutes after filling up the tank.. then I started for the ride again and the time was 10:54 AM..

I thought I should reach Nagpur by 4 PM and get the engine oil changed.. Back on the saddle after completing roughly 400 kms and another ~300 kms to go til I reach Nagpur.. I started riding the bike at 90-100 kmph and again diversions.. this time it was really irritating.. horrible roads in between.. every now and then I had to bring the bike to below 10 and by the time the bike reaches 60 kmph, i had to apply brakes again.. the roads were not laid properly.. (on highways, I usually don't go WOT) and finally I saw a direction board where it says Seoni to the left this is where I was suppose to stay tonight had I started today morning

The roads were just close to perfect with very less traffic.. I was easily doing 110s constantly and when I saw the below Direction Board, i was very happy..

Seeing Kanyakumari on the Direction board made me realize how soon I am closing up on Tamil Nadu Just 1827 to Kanyakumari which is somewhere around 500 kms from TN border.. This just got me excited and I couldn't continue without clicking a pic.. Oops, Is that my glove on the road

I will continue with the remaining later today
