Re: Day Rides
These set of pictures are from various weekend breakfast rides over a month's time-frame and all of them to our usual destinations. My wife joined me for one of the rides to Lonavala and braved the heat which especially tends to toast one past 10am. One on occasion, Gurpratap wished to stop and test ride the Triumph Speed Triple which he did on the return leg from Lavasa. We also wanted to test ride the Benelli 600i, but unfortunately a customer of theirs had crashed the bike previous evening. On a separate occasion, I stopped at Kawasaki on our return leg from Amy Valley and spent a chilled out hour with the guys over some tea discussing our favorite topic "bikes".Ride To Live

Hey Akshay. You should check out The Twist of the Wrist. It's a book on cornering. They also have a Two part DVD for the second Book that's really helpful. You will enjoy reading it and applying all that in real life, especially since you do so many rides!Don't matter what it is: Touring; Racing; Commuting. All I know is, I belong on the saddle.
Rides : Honda CB Twister(Feb 2011 - Present) | TVS Apache RTR 180 ABS(Sept 2012 - May 2016) | Honda CBR250R C-ABS Repsol(March 2017 - Present)

Re: Day Rides
You can check out the video which is a compilation of our recent rides. Last weekend's Saturday ride took us to Kashedi Ghat on NH17 a 400km round trip and then on Sunday to Lavasa accompanied by our daughters amidst a cool cloudy and very foggy peak when we reached the top.
Excuse the soundtrack on the video which I think is crappy but I had not much choice due to YouTube policies of infringement.

Re: Day Rides
Riding buddy Gurpratap took a toss on his bike Saturday 4th July and broke his knee. A lowside after his front brakes locked, the front wheel slipped and the bike fell. Following surgery, where a titanium plate was inserted and ligaments repaired will see him out-of-action till at least September. Whilst these are the pitfalls of riding motorcycles, it also gives us time to ponder and answer the question - why we ride?
I caution my fellow bikers to be that extra careful this monsoon as roads become treacherous. My heart goes out to my buddy and I wish him a speedy recovery.
I made a quick solo run for breakfast to Lonavala last weekend which was amidst rain going but fortunately dry on the return leg. Caught up with a rider testing the final production version of Mahindra's Mojo which he said is being launched on 6th August. I wasn't able to take any pictures or shoot a video this ride.Last edited by akshay; 07-15-2015, 10:34 AM.Ride To Live

Re: Day Rides
JP and I, late the previous evening to Independence Day, made a plan to ride next morning to Tamhini Ghat, a round trip of 200km. With around four-and-a-half hours of sleep, we began a tad late at 8am on a cloudy Saturday morning. There were numerous bikes out for the day as we passed the Triump showroom and saw a good turnout getting ready for their "ride for a cause." The KTM Baner branch were assembled enroute with over 50 bikers and eventually also rode to Tamhini. This was an easy going ride, as we wanted to video-shoot and take pictures and generally spend time together, which after our last ride to Goa, was long overdue. The road conditions on this ride do not make for high speed riding as the surface is a mix of bad patches and a narrow approach road past Pirangut. The vada pao at the stall located at the Ghat foothill and where the road forks is a must-have. We also caught up with a fellow rider on his R15 from 100kmph whom we usually meet at Lavasa. On enquiring as to why his jacket had two rips in them, he said the rips were from his last two crashes and served as a reminder for him not to repeat the same mistakes! The Monk and I hit a heavy downpour on the return leg and before I could don my rain liner I was drenched right through. Ugh! We also spotted the Benelli group on their ascent to the ghat, where we stopped at a local restaurant on the way back to pick up a parcel of chicken handi and mutton fry, the smells of which wafting up from my tank bag made me make tracks for home.Ride To Live

Re: Day Rides
You can watch a short video of the Independence Day ride to Tamhini That. JP's GoPro didn't work, so the footage has been taken from my SJ4000 camera. Hope you enjoy it.

Hey Akshay, I am sorry as I am missing on the videos due to office firewall but just wanted to check if you've changed your exhaust. I could catch faint glimpses in some photos. Also, if yes, is that a Yoshi?

Re: Day Rides
Yes I have. That's a Leo Vince Carbon Fibre exhaust which has a super sound and fortunately also comes with a db killer should one want to keep the decibels down.Originally posted by chaosaddict View PostHey Akshay, I am sorry as I am missing on the videos due to office firewall but just wanted to check if you've changed your exhaust. Re: Day Rides
I headed for Lonavala last weekend Saturday morning, for a solo breakfast run. Fortunately the weather was dry and I made quick time to demolish the 150km roundtrip. I then visited my friend Anji, who showed me his new RE500, only 13 years old - Ha!
Separately, Sherman tested out the Augusta Brutale on behalf of BS Motoring and he mentioned that the bike was too powerful for Indian road conditions.
Buddy Inder from Indore took the Benelli GT out for a spin on those fantastic MP roads and hit a giddy 190kmph. Whew!Ride To Live
