I think it would so well since it had very good Low and Mid range power,
but giving a cold start would be a big problem,
but if P-200, 220 can do it why don't a FZ,

but still I am waiting for more member's response for best bike for Leh

who all are riding from mumbai?

      list??
      1. Rachit -> zma
      2. razor -> rtr

we have rode on a rtr, ambition, p200 and a zma to 17100 feet with no problems at all.. you can ride any bike unless it is properly serviced by a good mechanic is what we learnt..
A good long ride can clear your mind, restore your faith, and use up a lot of fuel.

Always be ready (get geared) to fall and then think of sitting on the motorcycle.

@Anjit: Its more of the rider than the bike mate, i believe it has been made clear that any 100cc and above bike can make it. I have friends who did leh on a platina.
Actualy, its how well you are at understanding and handling ur own bike.

Guys, coming back to the topic, u would need atleast 12 days to cover the basics in ladakh, ex delhi. So plan accordingly.

          That's right,
          its all up to rider,

          BTW,
do we need to take some Permissions to go up to Leh?
          as its vary sensitive area,
and I saw in news today, one terrorist is arrested by BSF last day,
so do it affects the security issues?

All right... This is getting really tempting now!

Looking at 2nd week of June time frame - a quick Delhi - manali - Delhi dash with Khardung and Pangong included. My wife was really at me for not taking her along last year - this time I have to make amends.

Who is interested in coming along? Tentative itenary as below (have not included Hyd - Delhi - Hyd days for the convinience of delhi / other city folks)

Day 1: Start early from Delhi, ride till Manali
                  Day 2: Manali - Sarchu
                  Day 3: Sarchu - Leh
Day 4: Leh - Khardung La - Leh + travel in and around Leh (Thikesy maybe)
                  Day 5: Leh - Pangong
Day 6: Pangong - Leh (Try riding to Marsimek La )
Day 7: Start Early from Leh, ride till Jispa
                  Day 8: Jispa - Manali
                  Day 9: Manali - Delhi

I have a zma... What would i need to fill it up with for this massive ride.. Am planning to put in Motul. Do I have to get a better spark plug also..?? Anything else.!
Just 2 months back, i have put 110 MRF Meteor Tyre which is a hard compound, guess it should be good enough to handle the terrain..

^^ Rachit - did the ride last year on Castrol Power 1 20w40 and stock tyres - had no problems at all ! I didn't get the power 1 racing 10w40 as it had just launched.

                            OK here's my query/doubts:

As is said earlier R15 can manage too so thats a relief. If so than how important is the season as a factor in completing LEH successfully.

I have heard many a stories from people who have tried many times with all kinda of bikes but failed.

One of my close friend alongwith his 7 buddies had completed leh in Aug 2008 on 7 bullets and a karizma. After the trip the karizma was enirely screwed up with broken farings et all & a total reparing estimate of 30,000.so would like your comment on this guys.

Is it recommended to remove R15 faring or is june/july time safe enough to complete with the complete bike.

I wish only to take my bike. Also has anyone completed LEH on an R15.if so than experience shared would be helpful.

No time allocated for acclimatization and also for the permits???
From less than 10k ft to 16k feet in one day (Manali to Sarchu). You are asking for trouble pal. As said earlier and suggested to us in the forum when we were planning for the trip, don't underestimate AMS. Even if you are taking the medicine to fight AMS but still give your body some time to acclimatize to the higher altitudes.
Also you would require half a day for permits in Leh. So plan for that too.
