Nice reading it. Some lovely pictures. Tell me, you were not wearing riding gloves were you? Looks like you were wearing skiing gloves!

Yes dear, those are cramster. I was pretty satisfied with them, only problem being that water seeped in them couple of times when I had put my feet in the river. I thought they are 100percent waterproof. PM me know your requirements and I shall let you know how they are for that.

Thanks Ken Da. Well regarding the gloves, I was wearing the Yamaha riding gloves but I flet my hands were feeling the cold so switched over to these winter gloves.

Thanks for clarifying. So you were using skiing gloves. Yes, they do keep you much warmer.

Waiting eagerly for the next instalment!

                          Day 3 - 09-06-2009

Washed the bike and started off at 08:00 hours, some patches were good, others mostly under construction. Had the morning breakfast at Dharcha. Some awesome paraths and tea with lots of butter. Started again and we could see snow(lots of snow) again at Baralacha La. In fact I guess we had seen maximum snow here only. Had a photo session, and some playing with snow. To our surprise there was not even single vegetation there. For the first time we started feeling that we are getting more exhausted by doing less of physical, and the reason was obvious, drop in the oxygen level. One of the mates started feeling sick and had some vomiting. But because of continuous fluid and food intake was still having some energy.

                          Lovely snow

                          The white walls

They really worked - worth a investment for the trip

                          The foot prints

The are some awesome streches of road till Baralacha

                          Just after Keylong

The view from the Keylong guesthouse

                          The guesthouse

In the middle of the traffic jam

A day 2 pic. sometimes, had to plan carefully how to ride on the road

                          Baralacha La pass

A day 2 pic. before starting from Manali

                          Leisure time at Sarchu

Amit, your trip refreshed my trip that was done in the last year. but for the amount of snow....it was the same.
however, luckily, neither my friend nor me faced any kind of breathing problem despite we both being heavy smokers.. yes I had a bad headache at Sarchu but I might blame it all on the loads of Old Monk I had before hitting the sack.
good that you did the trip without any medical troubles.
                            Keep posting.
