)Day 4 : Jispa to Pang - Part I

Gata Loops mark the ascent to Nakeela Pass. 21 loops form the Gata Loops and is quite a steep climb. The engines would scream for mercy as we take it up in second and sometimes even first gear. Feeling nauseatic or dizzy is perfectly normal in this stretch as the road keeps on twisting and rising at an unbelievable pace. Sudden losses of orientation would also present as a mis-shift in a turn, failure to maintain the riding line as you negotiate a hairpin curve. Although traffic is very sparse at this time of the year, but safety should never be taken for granted. So we would stop every now and then to reorient and acclimatize ourselves, rehydrate with water and glucose and manage to gaze at the scenery at the same time.
The conditions of Lachungla were exactly as expected. Cold and dull. But yes at 17,500 feet, we have now officially crossed the third highest motorable road in the world. And it sure was a heart warming feeling. We were now one step closer to the magical figure of 18,380 feet !!

Tented accomodation at Jispa
