      Day 6 - 7: Leh - Pangong Tso - Leh

Just the night before we reached Leh and learnt that Vishwas's friend was heading to Pangong next day. We all had a discussion whether we should go to Pangong or get the bikes in shape..! If we decided to ride to Pangong next day then all our luggage would be transported via the cars and we need to carry just the tank bags which was a plus-point for us. So, we finally decided on heading to Pangong. Next day morning we got up and packed our bags and loded them onto the car and we too left from there after some time.

On reaching Karu, I spotted a mech and wished to get the bike prepared for high altitude. Gave the bike to the mech but that guy didn't do anything much just cleaned the carb and told that now it would be just fine.. I went for a test ride of the bike and found no difference..! Vishwas and rudra too got some changes done..ie got the filters and chain cleaned. So like this we WASTED around 2hrs..!

      Our hotel in the morning..!!

Nothing like a hot-tea in the morning..

      At Mechanic's workshop,Karu.

lol..he even had indicator bulbs for a Hayabusa in shop..

On continuing the ride from there we started climbing the ghats and at some point me and vishwas exchanged bikes. I was on the fz and he was on my karizma. Even his bike felt the same to me .. POWERLESS ..where as on the other hand he was all the more happy on getting my bike as he got more power as compared to his bike..

Later on we switched back to our own bikes and continued the ride ahead. On climbing some more the bikes were getting more and more sluggish bcoz of oxygen-less-air(just wished we had motor's breath .. ). In between me and vishwas stopped many times to adjust the "air-screw"..but nothing much effect on bike's pulling power..

Later..at around 15,000 ft. there was an army camp. There we showed our bikes to an army mech..he suggested to take out the air-filter and then ride. We took a test ride and it worked wonders for the bike..it was almost back to normal. I could easily do good speeds now.. and i was really happy now. So, we bid good-bye to them and we all continued ahead. Within no time I reached Chang-La and clicked some pics.

      Enroute-chang la..

      At 15,269 ft.

Within minutes rudra too arrived. And it was Vishwas's turn to arrive..we kept on waiting for him, but he didnt arrive. Then some tourist cars came from that side..we asked them and they told that they saw a biker down there and his bike was not working. Then we both started our ride back to catch upto vishwas. rudra left and i was following him..suddenly realised that my side stand was loose and was hanging and there was a lot of problem riding in that muddy/pothole-full road. So, i returned back to the army camp there at chang-la. Later i realised that i was feeling dizzy .. which army ppl too saw. So, they suggested to lower down the altitude a bit..where it may feel better. So, i started from there and climbed down to the next army camp which was a few kms from there. I Bid goodbye to those army personnel and went ahead. For the 1st time in our trip i was riding on ice and dunno what struck to my mind .. i was bit fast.. and i slipped there.. picked up the bike and again started riding..!! Till the time i came to the next base camp i was being very alert so as to reduce the possibility of a next fall ..

Finally, with all the efforts i came to the next army camp and waited there for rudra and vishwas to catch up...!! They soon came and heard their part of story..it was really bad for vishwas's bike that it didnt move forward from one point. From there i was carrying the baggage on my bike's saddle and vishwas was pillion to rudra. Admist that snowstorm we rode and i for particular had a tinted visor helmet so had to clean it every 5 seconds as snow was getting deposited on the visor every now and then..!! Somehow, struggling with the snow & broken side stand got down till tangste where we all made entry at police-check post. From there Pangong was around 30kms and the road to that was smooth. By evening we reached Pangong lake and since our room was already booked we directly head to the room and got into the quilt .. The scenery up-till Pangong from Tangste was simply superb. I really wanted to stop for the pics but physically was not in a position to take pics..

In the night also wanted to head to pangong lake and click some pics..but due to the climate there .. didn't brave to go out there instead thought of clicking pics the next day in sunlight .. For dinner we had maggi and slept early by around 9.30pm.

The next day we were supposed to ride back to Leh..and as per usual plan we head to Pangong for some pics..!!

      Pangong Lake pics..!!

      Enroute Pangong-Chang La!

On black ice at Chang La..

      pics above clicked by Vishwas.

In around 1/2 hrs time we were back to the hotel room..packed our stuff and started the return journey. The return journey was not as tough as compared to the as there was proper sunlight and most importantly there was not SNOWFALL..!! We crossed chang-la very soon(was stuck at chang-la again..a tourist car vala came to the rescue .. ) and went again to the army base camp where vishwas's bike was kept. He did some changes as suggested by Yamaha-delhi and it some-what it worked fine for him, he then test rode the bike and found it to be better than before. Then we all went off and reached Leh by afternoon/evening. Got the bikes in shape from a famous mech name "Juma Automobiles"..he was really good. went back to hotel and in the meantime met Aman at our hotel..there we both roamed around the market..and then we all met for dinner. There we decided that Aman would be going to Hunder/Diskit with vishwas and rudra via my permit and i would be going with spidy and gang to K-TOP with Aman's permit. Co-incidently both groups agreed and we all went back to our respective rooms and crashed for the day..

Next: Day 8: Leh - Khardung La - Leh

          1. We had a discussion about whether to go to pangong or not. We never had any discussion about getting bikes in shape.

          2. There was no snow storm. It was a snow fall. A storm needs heavy winds which were absolutely absent.

          3. Me & Rudra told you repeatedly to tie your side stand. you were carrying 2" duct tape on your bike.

          4. When I did some changes to the bike, it was better but it did not climb Chang La and it was not ok.

          5. I object to use of my photographs which I have already used in my thread. I can understand you using your riding photos which will obviously be shot by someone else but why others? At least give credit for the photos.

Hey why the change in the title Inder? At first I thought it's yet another Leh thread by someone.. Then realized it's the same thread

Yup, we did have a discussion about getting the bikes fixed first as I was having much greater problems than you two.

                      2. There was no snow storm. It was a snow fall. A storm needs heavy winds which were absolutely absent.

While on the bike you experience wind too!! Bcoz of which the snow flakes were getting deposited on the visor..i just mentioned that.

                      3. Me & Rudra told you repeatedly to tie your side stand. you were carrying 2" duct tape on your bike.

That you told only when we were leaving from pangong..and I fixed the tape then and there itself. So, why did this point arise?

                      4. When I did some changes to the bike, it was better but it did not climb Chang La and it was not ok.

                      Ok, fine..i'll change the text.

                      5. I object to use of my photographs which I have already used in my thread. I can understand you using your riding photos which will obviously be shot by someone else but why others? At least give credit for the photos.

I guess I already had a discussion with you over the phone on this that i would be using your pics in my log as i didn't click any. And as for the credit i guess its already there..check for the watermarks in your pics.
