Paaji : What a name to the thread

Dear All,

The name of the thread is given purely due to the fact that..

1) My 1st ride to the Himalayan mountain range..!!

2) My 1st LONG ride..!!

3) My 1st ride where in i could actually see and experience the capabilities of the bike and myself to the fullest. And i am very proud of my bike now that it performed flawlessly on the whole ride and supported me every km traveled on it.

The Beginning: During the end of the year '09 and start of the year of '10, the plans for hitting Leh-Ladakh were being formulated at my mind. I was simply blown-away by the beauty of the place so much that whenever i used to see any Ladakh-travelogue here on xBhp i used to get so tempted that "Let's hit the road now and head towards Ladakh". But, all these thoughts/dreams were shattered everytime bcoz i could never take so many leaves from office.

It was from that moment on, i had decided that in the year '10 someday i would surely be heading up there and experience the beauty of the place 1st hand.

Then finally the year '10 came..I knew at the start of this year that this was going to be the year which will convert my dream into reality, and our planning for the trip picked up pace. I was getting all excited since i was getting closer to my dream as every day passed by. The biggest happiness that came to me was that FINALLY..i mean finally my leaves from office were approved and that too 2-2.5 months prior to the ride. After that there was no stepping back and start with the preparations in full-force.

The Preparations: There were 2 areas where preparations were to be done were namely:
1) Bike
-> a big list of spares for the bike was to be carried.

2) Rider
-> winter wear .. rain wear(though i forgot to take the rain pants ) .. riding gear.

We already had the route plan in place, a basic idea of the places to stop over for the night.

The Start: We were transporting our bikes and ourselves (along with saddle bags, riding gear) via train. Here there was a twist, since i didn't get a train ticket reservation from Pune-Delhi so had to settle with a train ticket to Agra and from there ride down to Delhi.

So, finally reached the Pune Station some 3-4hrs. prior to the train timing and got the bike booked as luggage along with me up-till Agra. Since, this being a "Summer-Special" train..so it had to stop at every other station, give way to normal trains, etc. etc. ... due to all of this, my train was late by almost 6-7hrs in reaching Agra.

When I finally reached agra..took out the bike from luggage compartment. Inspected it for any damages n all..and luckily found it to be scratch-less *touchwood*

Went to the luggage room got the gate pass made and went outside to fetch some petrol for the bike!! Since the petrol pump was nearby only..it didnt take much time for me to get to the pump .. fill in the petrol .. and return to the bike.

Finally, got outside and started my ride towards Delhi. In the meantime, had a word with Prateek and informed about my status and when would i be reaching there in delhi. The delhi-agra highway was simply superb and smooth. I could easily cruise at the speeds to 90-95 on that pitch black highway even with the tinted visor down..

In around 2-2.5 hrs of riding, i had reached faridabad border and then moved towards the Ashram - Maharani Bagh - DND flyover. There met Shaan and Prateek from where we moved towards Gazipur at Shaan's place..where i was staying for the night.

When we reached at Shaan's place..messaged everyone about next day's plan and crashed to bed.
