Ankit wants to say that you guys look suspecious

@ Ankit, the min. value you can declare for a bike is 10k and that is what everyone shows to reduce insurance cost.
Never argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and then beat you with experience.

Hahaha..No no Shadow itna bhi khatarnak nai dikhta
Actually they were checking each and every fellas bags IN and OUT.After 15-20 mins of struggle and bribe they let us go,ofcourse they took the Lube with them.

You don't have to do anything, they didn't cross check if your bike is of 1 lakh or 10 lakh.So you can put as minimum as you can.As Vishwas told its an insurance charge,in case of any damages to your bike while loading-unloading-travel.You can claim the insurance, based on the amount you declared while parcel.
So whatever price you quote..... they charge 10 % of it as insurance sum.So the trick is to declare it minimum.

        DAY 2 - DELHI
5th June 2010, Morning started with the continuation of last day's royal treatment. Reached Delhi at 11:00 AM. One of my friend Amit Tyagi(BCMT member) came to pick us. We went to his place for the rest of the day, as our bike were supposed to come by 6 PM by Golden Temple Exp.
Had all refreshing activities at Amit's place followed by home made Aalo ke Parathes and Red Curry Chicken. Thanks a lot Amit ji for warm welcome and your hospitality.
Later on we had long chat on the trek's Amit has done. I must say this guy has got lot of experience in trekking. Met few more fellow friends, and it was time to say adieu to everyone.
        Pic courtesy - Amit Tyagi

Amit dropped us at a near by rickshaw stand and gave us a hearty All The Best for the ride.
In a matter of minutes we reached H-Nizamuddin station,i asked shadow to stay with the luggage and I go enquire about the train and procedure to claim the bikes. It was 6:05 Pm,train was yet to come. It was expected at 6:40.
So the moment came and I saw our bikes getting unloaded from the parcel van, I knocked and checked the bikes at few visible places for possible damages. It sounded ok,a big sigh of relief.

But it doesn't ends here, when I went to the parcel office I came to know that "if a bike is booked as a parcel, then it needs to be claimed between office hours 9-5...Now if booked with luggage then you can claim it anytime"
So more wait to lay hands on our baby bikes.
We checked in a nearby hotel, and paid 800 INR for the AC room. Had few canes of beer and slept in peace.

                DAY 3 - DELHI - AMRITSAR

In the morning went to the parcel office. Did all the clearance work on our own. Our babies were at rest at platform no 2.We were about to take our bikes outside the platform, a GRP guy stopped us. He noted our builty passes number and let us go with the 100 rs bribe and a long lecture on our touring spirit.
Some of his words "Kya zaruat he ee sab nautanki karne ki,pehle inti mehangi fatfati lo..uske baad usko dhoo ke yaha le jaao aur phir chalao..Maa baap ne isi din ke liye paal pose ke bada kiya he" and he continued for 30 mins, may be more

Thank god he let us go,Refeuelled the bikes and saddled up for the journey towards Amritsar.
Road was quite good till Ambala,it did not took us much time to reach there. At Ambala..you have to take proper turn from a bunch of flyovers.
Road from Ambala till Amritsar was also pretty good. But at plenty of point’s flyover construction, road widening work was going on.
Delhi to Amritsar, climate was very hot. One thing I liked very much about Punjab was..the free Rooafza and Rasana getting distributed in every 50 Kms.I had plenty of them.

Just before 100 kms to Amritsar we encountered very-very bad dusty crosswinds. Almost zero visibility and our bikes attempting to outflow with the winds stream.
We arrived at Amritsar before dark. To beat the heat, we had Kulfi inside the Amritsar city at a very famous joint. That Kulfi shop was 30 years old.
We checked into a hotel nearby named Hotel Diamond for 500 Rs.

                Our Hotel

We dumped our luggage and took a Shower.
Golden Temple was in walking distance from our hotel. We started for the temple around 8:10 Pm.
While walking I went into thinking mode , I don’t know what got into me.
4 days back from now, I was somewhere stuck in the crowded streets of Mumbai.Stuggling for small small things to survive.
And look at me now, walking on these amicable streets-lanes of Amritsar.Living, cherishing and enjoying every microsec of life.

                Galli cricket @ nite

I was enjoying the relaxed feeling and the essence of the atmosphere. It was Sunday and the place was expected to be crowded.

                Ah !! Almost there

After little bit of enquiring we reached at the temple.
                One of the entrance

Till now I had visualized this place in pictures and now it was right in front of me. Its beauty-bloom was increased to a greater extent in the Night time.
Getting inside and having darshan took hardly 20 mins.

                The Golden Temple

                Long and wide queue

I was instructing him about the angle and he.....

                Some super black African tourist

After darshan we went to Langar to have food(prasad). It was very appetizing.

On the right hand side, entrance to langar.

Went back to the hotel after having food, enquired about the Wagah border parade. Each and everyone advised us to attend the evening parade. The registration starts at 4:30 in the evening. In the morning time parade happens at 5:30 AM.

Me and Shadow arrived to conclusion that if we woke up early(which was highly impossible) by 5.We will try to catch up with morning parade.
With this promise to each other we crashed to bed.
                Cheers
